Rice won both reg season title and conference title, LSU didn't even make there conference tourney and they were 13-17 in conference play, if you can't make your own conference tourney then why should you make the NCAA tourney!!!

They swept Cal St Fullerton 3 games and beat Miss State 2 out of 3 to end regular season. The problem was the conference record. I'd be curious what the teams that got in at large would've done in SEC. I think LSU should've went before Miss St and about 5 other teams. The school that has led the country in attendance for like the last 10 years. Wow!

No way in the world St Johns is better than LSU! How did they get in over the tigers?

Also Rice got a national seed? I wasn't sure they would even host a regional!

Rice is good, 17 straight appearances, but no LSU is shocking.

They have a national seed resume, when you win your reg season title and tourney title and your rice your going to get that national seed, just how it is, I am with you on sec thing but LSU can't even make there conference tourney, they don't deserve a automatic bid, St. Johns went 18-8 in the conference and finished 2nd in the conference, and also they have one of the best pitchers in the nation!!!

How about A&M not getting a national seed and the reason given is because of the John Stilson injury. If the committee didn't think A&M was  a top 8 seed just have the guts to say so, but if they really lost a national seed because of an injury, well that is just wrong. You don't punish the team for someone getting injured!!

LSU has one of the best players in the nation in Mahtook sp?. They smoke everyone in attendance and travel well. I still say you take them before several of the SEC teams that went and a couple of others. Conference tourney isn't that big of a deal (It was for the selection committee), look at what UT did.

LSU lost 6 conf series this yr, and out of those 7 got swept 3 times, they had there chance but getting swept that many times and losing that many series tells me they are a inconsistent baseball team!!! I just feel the NCAA got this right here is a good article. Also in ncaa basketball if a teams best player is hurt or out it hurts the team seeding!!! so why not use it for baseball!! Everyone thought VCU this yr should have never got in ahead of V tech and look what VCU did in the tourney this yr, you can always say well this team wouldn't have did good in the SEC and blah blah but fact of the matter is you got 9th place in your conference and you were swept 3 times!!

You can say what you want to, but lSU got hosed this year. They lost series to Georgia, Bama, Vandy, and Arkansas. Thier ratings were crazy and they were ranked in the top 25. Give me a resume of the last five chosen that beats LSU and I might agree with you. LSU didn't have a good year, but I think they did enough to be one of the 64 teams. Even in a down year, LSU would beat half of this years field. If the committee is going to change thier mind on what they go by every year, how's teams suppose to schedule in the future. They said RPI wasn't the main factor this year, but in years past it was. It helps when a couple of the teams were represented with a member on the committee.

They aren't in the top 25 in baseball america,Kendall Rogers rankings on Perfect games,USA today poll, collegiate baseball poll either, so every poll has them out of the top 25, so your telling me these ratings are crazy!!!!!!!! Like I said don't get swept 3 times in conference series then LSU wouldn't be in the situation they are in, reason Miss st got in because they did what they needed to do and only got swept 1 time in conference play!!!

I'm glad you posted that site because it shows you that LSU was only two games out of first with only 1 or 2 more conference losses then first place. It also shows that LSU had the 22nd best RPI in the country, which is mainly what they went by for years until this year.We can just agree to disagree, but I still say if your down to 60 through 64th teams, LSU should've been one of those that was picked. Hopefully they come back strong next year!!!

No wonder you have so many smites!!! ::)

Well in my opinion you shouldn't make it in to the tourney if you couldn't even make your confrence tournament. That just shows that LSU couldn't win the games when they needed them most.  A lot of people get confused when they talk about the tourney, its not the best 64 teams that make it, its the "most deserving" teams that are selected. If they just wanted the best 64 then confrence championships wouldn't matter and they would just take the top 64 rpi teams.

Scalpem, give it up man, they couldn't even make the conference tourney!!!!!!!! The other teams did 2 games better in conf play and got it done and did what they needed to do, if you cant make your own conf tourney u don't deserve to go to the NCAA tourney!!!!

If you can't make the conference tournament I agree you should not make the NCAA Tourney.  As far as A&M goes they went 0-2 against Rice and lost 2-of-3 to Texas. if they would have done better against Rice and Texas then maybe A&M would have gotten a national seed.  The aggies had their chances and could not get the wins they needed.

Uconn was also 21-9 against teams in the top 100, while LSU baseball was 18-18 against top 100  opponents and  uconn  also won there conference tournment too!!!!!! and there was also a 3 way tied for 9th and there are 16 teams in the basketball conference, you can't even compare Uconn basketball and LSU baseball, LSU did not make the Conference tourn dude get real!!!!!!! if you can't make that then how in the heck should you make the ncaa tourney!!!

Very well put, and 100% correct IMO.

BTW on the UConn b-ball thing....  They made and won their conference tournament, while LSU's baseball team didnt.

Take the conference tourney out of it. Why have RPI and go off of that every year, but this one. I agree and understand LSU didn't make the tourney, we all know that. Your talking about the SEC, which is the best baseball conference, maybe second to the ACC this year. The overall resume, I feel puts them atleast between 60 and 64 in the tournament. Take the 32 automatic bids out of it. I think they were between 30 and 32 of the at-large bids good. Ya'lls reasoning means that you should take everything out of the equation except if a team makes thier conference tourney? I see both arguments, but I don't want to let go :D ;D It's LSU. Must be a bunch of Horn fans still crying from two years ago :D ;D Next year, LSU needs to have 27 road games against chumps and make the SEC tournament as one of the eight teams and they should qualify for the NCAA tournament.

LSU did  not win "big" games this year. If a team does not qualify for its own conference tournament, then it should not expect to be in a regional.
Sure, there are some automatic bid teams that should not be in (sub .500 records), but they did what they needed to do. LSU did not.

Sweeping Cal State is not relevant. What
did they do in the SEC?
It was a down year, a bump in the road so to speak. They have some good young guys coming in and will be back in contention next year.

they did that back in march 11 lol its june now, thats the only big series win they have, they got swept against the big boys of the SEC, and the west coast this yr is very down, first time in a long time a west coast team didn't get a national seed!!!

    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
    • See why I don't trust my Hogs?
    • Come on dude, don’t take anything away from the kids on the field. If you want to talk uncharacteristic, we made what 3 or 4 errors in game one. Y’all had 2 EARNED runs.  Defense is normally our strong suit. Your ace didn’t strike out a single one of our kids. Like I said also, you did not out hit us in game 1. Hell you barley out hit us in game 2. We had all the uncharacteristic walks. Josh pitched a hell of a game is what made that game what it was.
