I agree and if I understand it, if they promote from within (i.e. name Coach Thompson to the post) they are not required to post an opening with the TEA.  Quite frankly, that course is a no brainer.

However, this IS the West Orange-Cove CISD we are talking about and they haven't been known for making real good policy moves in the past. I guess we will see how good the new superintendent is on this one.

You know Grad I was about to same the exact same thing, especially about the admins decisions. I do think they have to post the job though even if they have made up their mind to promote from within. I think it is State law, and I know NISD does this from previous experience.

Correct, bigdog.  There are some people who are running who I have much more confidence in than the incumbents that are running...not only on this matter but in most, if not all, of the issues that are currently plaguing the WO-C CISD.

"I'm 72 and have been thinking about retiring but I know we're going to have a good team next season.  It was hard to leave that kind of money on the table," he said.


It was said Hooks was wanting to take the money but still coach the football team in the fall and then leave in December at the Christmas break.  When asked about that plan Hooks seemed diplomatic in saying, "Wellll, I just think now was the right time."  He then said, "I can tell you this, I'll be watching football somewhere on Friday night."

I asked if he'll be able to watch the Mustangs play without being on the sidelines.  "I plan on being at the Nederland game (season opener) since its at Lamar.  After that we'll just have to see."

True, but the question is whether Thompson will accept the district's early retirement package as well.  I know there was a deadline on accepting that package.  Does anyone know when that deadline is?

Thanks I appreciate that. The people have an opportunity to speak volumes when they go to the polls. They are either happy with the way things are and will vote to keep the same people in or we can try something different. WOS is headed in the right direction with the new Principal at the high school and the Super.

Times are tough for all or most districts. We will get through this and push forward. We have to.

HOLY COW!!!! I wish my district would come close to offering ANY of that for me to leave....( We are being offered nothing and get nothing for our sick days....At this point I have no incentive not to miss the majority of the remaining school days.)
