WOS vs EVADALE Updates..WO-S Wins 11-0/Comments

Recommended Posts

The WOS Mustangs are playing very good baseball this year. Zane Anderson(4-1) threw a great game striking out 9 and giving up 3 hits in the 5 innings. WOS has 5 players this year batting over 300 with the Anderson kid being one of them. 21-3A will be very competitive and WOS will defiantly be a contender for the playoff race. 21-3A is close to being the toughest district in the state and this region if I am not mistaken,  has more top 20 teams than any other region. It will be a great year for sports fans. Anything can happen. That's why you play the game. Just ask Kansas in basketball.

Ive had a chance to see both WOS and Orangefield play now, and these two teams match up very close.  After looking at the schedule I would not be surprized to see these two teams split 1 each in district. The big Question is can either one of these teams upset BC. If not there could be a tie breaker third game in store, that is if HF or HJ does not upset one of these teams as well. Their schedule and pitching rotation could be the difference. Should be some good games in this district, no dought one of the strongest 3a districts. Does anyone know WOS overall record and possible ranking? They should be inching into top twenty soon.

Red-hot Mustangs take down Evadale

Van Wade The Orange Leader

WEST ORANGE — With the District 21-3A baseball season cranking up Friday, 21-3A opponents of West Orange-Stark better find the Mustangs on their radar pretty quick because the Mustangs are ready to make a statement. The Mustangs are still tuning up for a rugged 21-3A race as they battered the solid Evadale Rebels 11-0 in five innings Saturday in non-district action at Anderson Field. Junior pitcher Zane Anderson was superb on the hill as he allowed just three hits while striking out nine Rebels through five frames of work. Jordan Darnall and Darius Mitchell both had the big hits for the Mustangs (10-4) as each one ripped three-run home run blasts. The Mustangs have been rolling of late and they won the Kirbyville Tournament last week, getting two wins over 21-3A rival Hamshire-Fannett in the process. “The kids are playing with so much confidence right now,” said Mustang coach Jessie Riojas. “They’re ready to come out here and work everyday and are really dedicated. They’re seeing the work pay off with some dividends by getting some nice wins of late.” The Mustangs picked up five runs in the bottom of the second against the Rebels. Taylor Turley led off with a walk and Anderson drew a one-out walk. With two outs, Mitchell blasted a three-run homer over the centerfield fence off Rebel starter Tyler Tucker. Josiah Phares then reached on an infield single and Justin Sparrow was hit by a pitch and Darnall followed with a two-run single to left. WO-S tacked on a run in the third. Jacoy Finney drew a leadoff walk. Anderson came up with a single to center and courtesy runner Van Jordan eventually scored on a throwing error by the Rebels on a pickoff attempt at second. The Mustangs slammed the door with five runs in the fourth. Sparrow and Clayton Gearhart started it with back to back singles to right and Darnall brought them home with a three-run shot over the leftfield fence off Evadale reliever Dustin Potts to make it 9-0. Turley came up with a single and Finney drew a walk and James Thomas brought home Turley with a RBI single to left. Jake Klinkhammer capped the scoring when he scored Jordan with an infield hit. The Mustangs finished with 10 hits with Darnall going 2-for-3 with five RBI. “What more can you say about Jordan Darnall, he’s been on a tear for us all year,” said Riojas. “He’s one of those kids that tries to be a perfectionist. That’s impossible, to be perfect, but that’s what Jordan expects of himself and the kids feed off that kind of confidence. Proud to see Darius take one out of here today too. That will give him a boost.” Aaron Cravy, batting ninth in the order, went 2-for-2 for the Rebels as Anderson dominated the rest of the lineup. The Mustangs close out their non-district schedule Tuesday at Sulphur (La.) before opening 21-3A play at home Friday against the Orangefield Bobcats. “Last year, the district race left us with a bad taste in our mouths because we competed well but came up a little short of the playoffs,” said Riojas. “The kids remember that, and it has made them that much hungrier. Regardless of who they play, they feel like they can compete against anybody. We’re looking forward to it.”

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
