  1. Should a MVP be given to  the player who has the most impact on a teams success or simply the player with the best stats. Look at the teams and see how you think a team would perform over the season without a certain player on their roster. If you took Statum away would Orangefield still be as successful as a team. If you took Hicks away how would Bridge City be. I know that the MVP is the stats guy,  but I want to know who everyone thinks the different MVP of each team should be. Should one of those guys be the district MVP even if he did not have the best stats overall. Just more to get chat going.
  2. I like the list but 2B is played by the Anderson kid as much as the Sparrow kid. The Anderson kid  is batting over .440 in district and over .300 for the year. He plays 3B  or 2B according to who they have pitching when he is not on the mound.  He will probbably pitch 6 of the 10 district games and maybe 7. He is now 5 & 2 for the year with a low 3 era.  He should get some consideration.  I agree the Menard kid from BC is a good selection also. Also his competition might be the kid from HF who plays short. I do not recall him being a varsity player last year. He is really productive for HF.
  3. I think the WOS team will be a key factor in 21-3A. This district has some outstanding pitchers and the Anderson kid has to be one of the top three. Any pitcher that can throw 97 pitches, walk only one batter,  and give five hits with  only two earned runs to a state ranked team like Orangefield that has senior UT and A&M signees playing for them is pretty good in anyone's book. Southeast Texas has some of the best baseball programs in the state and everyone needs to support people like Chris Fackler who works hard to promote our local kids and get them looked at by many colleges. The 21 -3A race will be closer than years past. Coach Riojas is doing a great job in WOS and all the schools look to be competitive this year. When looking at the long ball this year, it is obviously making a larger impact on pre-district and district games this year. Keep supporting all baseball kids and remember the game is America's past time.
  4. The WOS Mustangs are playing very good baseball this year. Zane Anderson(4-1) threw a great game striking out 9 and giving up 3 hits in the 5 innings. WOS has 5 players this year batting over 300 with the Anderson kid being one of them. 21-3A will be very competitive and WOS will defiantly be a contender for the playoff race. 21-3A is close to being the toughest district in the state and this region if I am not mistaken,  has more top 20 teams than any other region. It will be a great year for sports fans. Anything can happen. That's why you play the game. Just ask Kansas in basketball.
  5. I am not sure about the previous score postings. I do know WOS defeated Deweyville 12-0 with Darnall(1-1) going the whole game, then WOS defeated Kirbyville 6-4 with Druillard(1-1) 1 & 2/3 and Turley(1-1) 5 innings , then WOS defeated Hamshire Fannett 7-6 with Anderson(4-1) going the whole game( Darnall hits walk off home run #5) and the championship of the Kirbyville tournament goes to WOS 7-1 with Sparrow(1-0) going the entire 7 innings. Turley MVP, Sparrow and Darnall All -Tournament selection. I saw every game of the tournament and it was a great tournament. Hats off to Kirbyville for doing a great job.
  6. GTB 12U  ELITE IS SOMEOO CONTACT. TRY D. SMITH at 313-0690 he can at least tell you possible places if he does not have any room.
  7. The game was a very good game overall. WOS went ahead 1-0 in the first. Jasper scored 3 in the third after some costly errors and  3 more in the fourth with some key hits and a few more WOS errors.  WOS scored 1 in the 6th and 2 in the 7th but came up short. WOS competed all the way until the last out. Both teams have some quality players that will play at the next level.  It was important to get the first game in for both teams. It is going to be great year for baseball if it ever warms up and stops raining.
