tim baugh does a great job with that site. he does an excellent job tracking down the top programs in the state. no shock that orangefield and jasper are up at the top. bc has a lot of work to do to keep the district crown  from going down the bayou. coach bennett has done an excellent job with the bobcats and has his field looking better according to kogt. jasper will always be competitive and dangerous as long as coach mixon is at the helm. he showed sate champ carthage a lot of respect with only 2 starters returning he listed them as #12.

Orangefield returns 8 starters and most of it's pitching from last years team that went 3 rounds deep and gave Bridge City fits in that 3 game series. Add to the mix Corey Huckabay who was MVP of Hull Daisetta's district last year and I can see them being ranked ahead of Bridge City right now. BC always reloads and they will be tough again this year, so they're still the team to beat in the district because they've been on top for so long.

To me, it seems as if it's Orangefields to lose at this point.  Having signed two players with two of the top Big XII schools, and returning as many as they are, can anyone give me a reason as to why the shouldn't be a favorite this year?

And for those who don't know how impressive having 2 division 1 players on one team, can anyone name the last time this has happened?

Pitching wins.

Who are top pitchers at OF, BC, and Jasper ?
Statum for sure. Nasty stuff.

Felts will throw some too I assume.

OF had some young guys do very well a few weeks ago at the Perfect Game Underclass Showcase in Florida.

Very deserving of their #2 Pre-season ranking. Now, the proof is in the pudding.

Winning on the field. That's the proof. Anyone can win "on paper".

What does "The poof is in the pudding" mean?:

It means that the true value or quality of something can
only be judged when it's put to use or tried and tested.

The meaning is often summed up as:
"Results are what count...it's not how you start, but how you finish."

Menard is a catcher.  Hicks and Zoch will be solid.  Little Hubbard throws hard from the left side, but needs to work on his control.  I've never seen Dishon pitch, but I know he can cover some ground in the OF.

Not quite sure what your trying to get across?????  Have you ever seen an OF vs. BC game? When have they won on the field against BC?? And how you finish?? WOW you really don't know anything about BC baseball or you would know that they finish strong every year while OF is at home.
That's what I am saying. OF needs to prove/earn their ranking on the field.

All I know about BC baseball is what I get from Dishon and Menard during the summer. (My son plays on the Sundevils with them.) No doubt BC is a top notch high school baseball program.

I know Matt is a catcher. However, I have seen him throw some innings during the summer. He's got some decent stuff and is a Bulldog on the mound.

    • Sure.  You reassign an employee and they leave voluntarily instead of being fired and being open to litigation.  The outcome is the same, but you are making my point.  The superintendent and AD and principal are all empowered to make personnel decisions.  Instead of accepting the decision made, you talk about lawyering up, no one else was reprimanded, railroad job.  I am old enough to remember when high school sports taught life lessons...accountability being chief among them.
    • I know absolutely nothing about the situation, but I do know head coaches of sports other than the AD have actual teaching assignments, and I know from my wife having worked in the sped department of multiple schools that it’s not uncommon at all for coaches to shirk those duties.  It could very well be that this was the case at BC.  Or not, I don’t know.  Just bringing this up to point out the fact that, although many coaches only want to worry about coaching, they generally have several other responsibilities at the school.  some of them neglect or ignore these duties entirely.  If he’s been written up for other issues before, it’s a dumb argument to say “he was punished for this and others were not”.  If he had a pile of write ups in his file and they did not then it makes sense that the punishments were different.
    • He wasn’t fired, he was reassigned and people get reassigned all the time. If he was actually fired, then you would have a point, but he wasn’t fired. Based on the information presented here no way this would stand if they fired him and he lawyered up.
    • I heard the assistant was going to get this job and assume it was referring to the old Vidor coach, Nate Smith.  I always thought he did more with less at Vidor and can't help but think he shares some responsibility in Vidor's recent success.
    • Classic Bridge City.  Always someone else's fault, refs/umpires cheated, AD with an agenda, yada, yada, yada.  As far as I can tell it's damn near impossible to get fired at these schools so when someone does get fired, it's usually something.  Drama at Bridge City is a constant.  The guy did a good job coaching basketball and I'm sure he'll continue that somewhere else.  Time to move on.
