My question is why build it to begin with? It won't be a playoff spot because it is not in a neutral site. I guess if you get Port Neches and Nederland to play their annual game there you can get some of your money out of it. Beaumont schools will never fill this stadium. Waste of tax payers money. It will look pretty right off of IH 10 though. Why not sink money in the school system as a whole. Is the supt of BISD going to take a cut in pay to help pay for this? All that money he makes.

If the district meets certain standards each year he gets a pay raise.  The last 4 or 5 years he has refused the pay raise and had them put that money back into the district

Geez, what a noble thing to do from such a stand up guy. I guarantee you, he's not missing the money.

That could actually happen, if PNG/NED meet up again in the playoffs one day.  If Lamar Stadium is not avail., we'd have to go out of town to handle the crowd, and remain neutral.  Unless we were to flip home for home.

Well I say this... EVery facility in Beaumont is probably 40 plus years old, so the poster that said there are good facilities they are wrong!  Lamar is a college stadium that is being refurbished now... It was simply a wreck and the district was paying too much to use it!  All fields in Beaumont are horrible especially when it rains.  The grounds need to be re-worked and upgraded.  Neither Babe or Durley is leveled.  The cost to keep these fields up will pay for this new stadium (which upkeep is already subpar because of the expense)... The seating is limited and if Rita wouldn't have paid for a press box at Babe it would be really bad! There are already projects in to upgrade the schools...  My wife is not from here and she laughs at how old and ragged the schools look.  The stadium is needed...

the location is fine and now I am ready for some footbal.. We should not put it in the Ghetto, and it should be in an area that has good scenery.  Downtown is over crowded and the traffic would be horrible.  Let's break ground.

3 schools in Beaumont, a 4th is in the planning. Does it make economical sense to use/maintain 1 great stadium or maintain 3 or 4 bad stadiums.

looks like most complaints come from people that don't live in Beaumont.

Has nothing to do with living in Beaumont  just being realistic. I hope it works out for you guys. By the way you are right I don't live in Beaumont and I am glad my tax dollars don't pay a superintendent  200,000 + a year. Not to mention the fringe benefits.

It is going to be a fine stadium and I am glad that the BISD schools will have it. If it only holds 10,000 or even 12,500 I doubt that PNG and Nederland would agree to play there for a playoff game. They would probably play in a larger stadium. Lamar or Stallworth stadium in Baytown. I believe it holds more than PNG's stadium I think. It probably could get some of the 3A playoff games. I know that PNG and Nederland and I think Memorial stadium in Port Arthur has hosted 3A playoff games. I'm talking bi-district or area rounds.

Just for your information bleed, you probably pay more per student for your superintendent that Beaumont ISD!

Just a question.  Why is it that only people not from Beaumont always have little smart remarks and stuff about the BISD Superintendent?  Let that man be.  Everytime a subject comes up about BISD, there is somebody that comes in and have jokes about how much money he makes.  Makes it sound like jealousy...

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
