The Stowers departure only solidifies my beliefs, and it comes as no surprise. Anytime you bring a guy in from the outside you get an average of three years out of them. Suggs was an exception at Central he stayed one year before he left for more money.  We want someone here that wants to build a program and not someone who wants to come in looking for the next best job. Stowers was a great young coach but he had no ties to Beaumont Texas and it was only a matter of time and money before he left. We often forget that high school football is about the kids not us fans in the stands are the people that log on to these blogs, our time has come and gone. If Central would have hired a home grown coach (Fontneaux, Nelson, or Washington) are someone that has an invested interest in the community they wouldn't be looking for a coach today. It's em barssing for a high school kid to spend 4 years in high school and play for three different coaches. I've also done a little research for SFA 85. Did you know that 3 out of the 4 state champions in 4 and 5A (Allen, Lake Travis, and Sulphur Springs) play SISSY BALL, and Wylie lost to Katy in the Div. 2 State championship.

What is the situation with Suggs?  From the outside looking in, it seems like he would be a good choice considering the success he had at Lincoln and Central...the guy was a good coach IMO...maybe that bridge was burnt when he didn't get the PAM job originally?

My issue is not with Suggs coaching ability, my son was a sophomore at Lincoln when Suggs was there, and I think he did a good job. But I want a coach that has an invested interest in our kids and community. If we were to hire Suggs in PA, he would be gone the first time he went deep in the playoffs are when a new school opened in Houston. He and Stowers both proved that to be true. PAISD has 65% at risk students and the last thing our community need to do is put leaders in place that want be around to help build a foundation for our kids. That goes for all leadership positions in the district. I guarantee you that majority of the people that write on these blogs don't live in a community that reflects those stats. Outside people comment on what they think PA needs but if your not living here seeing what's happening with our kids you have no idea, and trust me 2 or 3 winning seasons and a departure is not the answer. Were in a battle down here trying to save our kids from the streets. I'm more concerned about saving OUR youth than helping someone use the system as a stepping stone for a better job and more money.

Tech is just cheerleading for a person who only called 2 plays all year long with the title of offensive coordinator to get the PAM job.  Give me a person who can win for 3 or 4 years vs. a 20 year loser like a Joe Washington who ended up 250-250.  If KRH is hired, they'll be 10 parades in his honor starting on Calder Ave........

Hold up 85 I played for BONE in the early 80's and he wasn't that bad LMAO. Well not when I was there. We played smash mouth football, as a matter of fact 12 and 13 dive was basically our only two plays LOL. I surely thought you would be a fan of old smash mouth Joe.

I think Kenny Harrison would be an excellent choice. The kids love and respect him and I guarantee you they will play there behinds off for him. I've also heard some of the names of the coaches he wants to bring in if he gets the job. From my understanding one guy is very energetic and and will have the defense flying to the football. Rumor has it that he will fit right in with our kids down here LOL. The other two guys have been successful coordinators in the past and one has been a head coach. I have one question for the KRH haters, what will y'all say if PAM is in the third round of the playoffs next next year?

I would say the small bracket is weak......

But we 'Haters' won't have to worry about PAM getting to the 3rd round if KRH is coaching because it won't happen.  They'll celebrate finishing 4th and get beat by manly teams such as LaPorte.  As long as NS is in the district, they will continue to get clock ran on them in the 2nd half.  PAM will further errode into a substandard program but hey, KRH is a nice guy and good with the kids.  What about the damn X's and O's????

Like I said before, if KRH gets the job, they'll be 10 parades---make that 12 because PN-G and Nederland will get all the news coverage and PAM will be relegated to box scores.  No game previews, no nothing.  I'm willing to bet Sabine Pass will make more playoffs appearences than PAM.....

    • What the writer stated wrt crossover votes in the primary/runoff: "Covey and his supporters Paxton and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said Phelan only won because Democrats crossed over to vote in the Republican Primary for him. Paxton said Covey’s campaign identified “at least” 1,442 Democrats who voted early in Jefferson County in the primary runoff. Texas does not have party registration, but a voter’s primary voting history is public. The Covey campaign has not released its methodology behind its claim, but  This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up  by The Texan news website found that 9% of Republican voters in the March District 21 primary had voted in one of the previous four Democratic primaries. However, only 5% of that group had voted in all four previous Democratic primaries. What Phelan’s opponents did not mention is historically Democratic Jefferson County is undergoing a political transition towards the Republican party — the county judge switched his affiliation to the GOP in 2017 — so many residents have a mixed primary voting history. And Phelan’s allies in the House dismissed the idea that liberals swung the election. "I knocked on doors, hundreds and hundreds of doors, made calls for Dade,” Republican Rep. Jeff Leach, R-Plano, said on Mark Davis’ radio program Wednesday. “I did not speak to a single Democrat down here in HD21. Not a single one." "
