Yes, I do know old country Hicks. Now if you want somebody that can sit in the stands and tell you what those refs are doing wrong on the field, he is your guy. A stickler for rules all the way down to the whole crew were not wearing the same socks. I saw him jump a crew one night because 2 of the guys socks did not match the rest of the crew. But I would not trade him for the world. He was not asked to be a big 12/ nfl recruiter of refs for not being knowledgable of the game.

if a ref wanted to they could call a holding call on nearly every play cause someone is getting held or should i say 99.9% of the time there holding?

I've heard NFL game commentators say the same thing. If the hold is on the outside it is usually called. A hold in the middle of the line is not as easily seen and they can usually get away with it. At least that is the way I have heard it explained before.

Ref, feel free to correct me.  ;D

Big Bob must be from an area that has a losing team. Probably the Refs fault.

Now Thats Funny Right There I don't Care Who You Are!

No the team that I support is 6-0

I once heard a ref say "If I called holding every time I saw it, that team wouldn't be 6-0!"  ;D

Your right holding is a problem and could be called on just about every play and the game could last all night long! When the flags fly on a football field it is because the penalty either had a direct effect on the play or it is called because of a player trying to intentionally hurt another player. If the ball is being run to the right, take a sweep play for instance, and there is holding on the left side of the line, and the runner has already turned the corner, the ref will normally not throw a flag due to the fact that it had no bearing on the play and that big lineman is probably going to get about 15 yards down the field by the time the running back turns on the jets and crosses the goal line. If you ever see a ref talking to the players down on the field, you can bet thatthe ref is telling that player " hey, I saw what you did on that last play, it better not happen again or it could cost your team some yardage." This normally works and the game does not have to be delayed.

But I agree with Big Bob this thread is for the funniest thing you have ever heard yelled at the ref.

The best one I have heard while I was on the field. I was calling the OF vs. HJ JV game last year. Now remember I have kids that go to HJ. I was working the OF sideline and I heard some one in the stands on the home side call me by my first and last name and tell me if I could not do any better than that, then I just needed to go home.

Also, Big Bob congradulations on that 6-0!

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
