I'd rather her take that money and use it to lower property taxes and get schools in line, as they are the majority of the property taxes here in Texas. 

It blows/boggles my mind that it cost on average $490 million PER DAY for one day of school in Texas.  That is a 359% increase since 1984.  Electricity in Texas has only increased 134% since 1984.  Maybe Bullets can shed some light on this. 

Property Taxes from 1984 to today has increased 1195%. We have just spent ourself into renting the property we own.....

I don't have definitive knowledge on this, but EVERYTHING is more expensive. A few obvious expenditures off the top of my head: a lot more free breakfasts and lunches are given out now, and they cost a lot more to make than they did 40 years ago, and diesel for busses is insane.
