I'm not much on predicting games. Think Lufkin and Goose Creek Memorial still have a lot on the line for a playoff spot.  Galveston Ball sure didn't look like a team that scored 31 against LaPorte earlier in the year, and more like the team who had lost 31-3 the week before at home to New Caney. So don't put much stock in Lufkin's 56-0 win last Friday over a Ball team that didn't want to be there. This district certainly has had unexpected surprises from week to week and these next two weeks are very pivotal to which teams can make the playoffs or not.

A lot of people are using La Porte as a comparison for different things. For the record, La Porte just got their D personnel back for the PAM game. Then, they preceded to lose their NT during that game. I don’t know his status.

LP had to shuffle their D, and many D players were having to fill in on the O as LP lost their entire OL and others in Games 1 & 2.

Any comparison using the LP D before the PAM game is moot. LP even had Simon and Reynolds playing LB in addition to their normal positions against GB because they were so banged up. That’s when Simon got ejected. GB was taking cheap shots at him all game while he was doubling on defense. Apparently, he finally had enough at the end of the game. He had to sit the first half of the GCM game.

LP has been through the injury wringer this year.

Only mentioned that Ball scored 31 on LaPorte, whether you had injuries or not was not exactly relevant to this topic. So what that LaPorte had injuries, everyone has those at some point in a season and you compensate the best way possible. Lufkin has had them too, had key WR and defensive secondary and DL guys out, even lost a starting SR DE and RB midway through the season. In fact Lufkin is  just getting back two projected starters that were hurt before the season ever started. Teams just do their best and move on, LaPorte has done okay through their tough times. All teams do.

I think Goose Creek Memorial will be a tough out for Lufkin on the road, but you still got to play the game. Lufkin doesn't mind traveling and they have already played at Stallworth this year..

A game between La Porte and Ball six weeks ago has absolutely nothing to do with a game between Lufkin and GCM this week.

Your darn right and I never said it did, only stating a FACT that Ball scored 31, whether it was 6 weeks or 6 days ago and who are you to come on this topic and make some big knock about it?? Sounds more like a defensive jester to me. We have had to listen all year about LaPorte's injuries and how it has affected their play, as if no other district teams have had key injuries to overcome. Be happy your undefeated in district through all the chaos and probably will remain so until the Region III playoffs, but don't come in here and try to correct me on a Lufkin topic.

Probably the most we’ve ever been hated on is in this district with these setx folks lol… It’s a cult. I hate we had to spend our time in this district during a program re-build. I guess our freshmen team has been letting them all know what’s up tho. You’d think they had 20 State titles between them all and we’re the scrub, but once Lufkin leaves the district will have zero 😂

Does Lufkin make the playoffs? I never thought I’d see Lufkin football down like this. Is it a lack of talent, or is the new coaching staff struggling to get the most out of these kids?

Incorrect. West Brook has a state championship in football.

You guys would have been hated on by the teams in the district the UIL had originally put you in. You guys asked to be put in this district.

No more a cult than the folks up in Smoaky land.

I don't know where Lufkin lands this year, still got to play the games. Just to clarify, the Panthers are in the 2nd year under Coach Carl Abseck, all new system, a lot of young inexperienced talent starting the year, rebuilding situations don't happen overnight. Haven't read anyone from Lufkin knocking LP, at least I know and respect how good that program is right now. The main beef with Lufkin in this district is because no one wants to travel to Lufkin. I get it, we are not exactly next door, but we do have to go to Baytown twice this year so we make up for some of that. 🫢 Lufkin must travel wherever the UIL places them, North Mesquite, West Mesquite, Tyler, Longview, Forney, McKinney North, yes McKinney North, even College Station, AMC, Magnolia, Conroe, Atascocita, Waller, Willis, Klein, THW, THWCP, Kingwood Park, Kingwood, we were with West Brook back 10-12 years ago, and this is our third round with New Caney in a district, first time was on a grass field 2008, even an East Texas district in 2014-2015. We have played in more district scenarios than anyone in SETX can imagine, bouncing from 6A to 5A to 6A and back to 5A in the last 20 years, and the travel??? There's only two 5A DI schools in East Texas, Lufkin and Tyler so we both get bounced around. Sorry to be long winded but so many know nothing about how Lufkin ends up where they do in realignments.

Hey, LP and PAM came in with all the hype and expectations in this district and it's playing out pretty much that way #1 and #2. They have proven they are the best two teams.  Lufkin is just trying to find a playoff spot and see what happens. I think Goose Creek Memorial presents a good challenge for Lufkin, and a must win for both schools.
