It's not entertaining. But. As far as small school standards go, Hardin is enormous. What would you recommend they do? I don't have a dog in the fight but after watching them for the 2nd year now, one has to admit that what they do is done very well. I was pleasantly surprised to see them spread it out on their last drive and be able to go the length of the field, although there was no other choice. But. I really wouldn't throw shade with the little league soccer comparison. Newton has more speed than Hardin (and most teams) will see on their schedule, but if a little league comparison is going to be made... it should be to Newton's special teams. 2 lost onside kicks... and zero PATs ? Seriously? Surely there's someone that can kick at least one out of 4 through the uprights after a score. That was the difference in winning and losing. 1st time I've seen them and wasnt impressed. Have seen many teams run this style much better. The size advantage vs Newton was easy. But I don't recall those big boys opening a hole for a big run. Only 32 carries for 113 yards averaged 3.5. Which is actually all they need for a 1st down. Biggest gains were with qb in shotgun and kick returns. Hardin defense played great too holding Newton well below their (edit... previous avg of 41.5) Ask Newton about the last time they lost by 1 pt. Also was same score 25-24. Last time they made all conversions. This time they did not. Special teams was the difference in this game. Maybe size alone can get them there but need to be more diverse to win it all. I just dont see them as top 10 team that could compete for the championship. Hope they prove me wrong. Edited 2 hours ago by WOSdrummer99 Quote

You do realize you just took a shot at Newton, yes? How dare you Newton lose to somebody who is not eye candy, running this little league soccer style offense well enough to keep drives alive on you? How dare you Newton lose to somebody far slower collectively than you? How dare you Newton lose to somebody less athletic than you? Style points are not where it's at, in Hardin. It also shows you have not been paying much attention for 3/4 years either because that's literally ALL they have done, in that amount of time, and yes that includes losing to last years state 3AD1 Champ, with a lead at half-time might I say. Everybody knows its not sexy, but it sure is winning at a high-clip in a place where there's been duds for 85 years. Quote

No dont twist my words. What i say is what i mean. Have no reason to root against any team in the area. Except for WOS opp every week of course. Newton deserves the "shot" after playing horribly. Hanging your hat on a FG and 1 TD vs Yoakum? That wont get it done in div 2 either. Quote
