Aggie Volleyball

A&M plays Kentucky in the national championship on Sunday.  The Lady Aggies ( not sure if they call them that) advanced out of their region as a 3 seed, taking out arguably the best volleyball program in the country in the regional final, Nebraska.  They took out another 1 seed, Pitt, in the final 4.  Now they face their 3rd straight one seed, Kentucky (who beat Wisconsin who beat 1 seed Texas in their regional final) for all the marbles.
 

 I have to say, I never watched much volleyball in my life other than occasionally in the Summer Olympics.  Didn’t have a kid who played so just wasn’t something I was much exposed to.  In the last few years, I have watched several matches in the women’s tournament when I see it on.  It’s actually a pretty fun sport to watch.  A lot of action and some super athletic women flying around.  Good luck to the Aggies (I think it’s their year).

I know seeding was based on record.  And I only saw the game where they beat Texas and some of the playoff games. But that team was a juggernaut

Didn’t want to say anything unless they won it, but that was the most impressive tournament run of a champion in VB history, possibly any sport. First VB team to beat three #1 seeds. Only other time I believe it was done was by Arizona men’s basketball in 1997. However, A&M beat a Nebraska team that was being talked about as possibly the best team ever, sweeping a Pitt team with the 2xNPOY that had not been swept all year, and sweeping a Kentucky team that had won 29 straight. They were playing elite on every level.
