purple reign Posted Tuesday at 02:06 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 02:06 AM Friendswood (2-3,0-2) will be visiting Angleton (5-0,2-0) Friday at 7PM. Friendswood is the closest district member to Angleton by far, being about 28 miles away. They should have plenty to motivate them with their backs against the wall after losing their first 2 district games to a couple of the better teams in the district. Also, Angleton has a 6-game winning streak going against them dating back to 2018, so revenge is also motivating them. Angleton is fairly healthy other than the 2nd string QB has been injured and hasn't appeared in the last couple of games. The 3rd guy has been getting reps in his place and the HC called up his son, big for a freshman at 6', 180 so that there would be 3 players available at QB. I did notice that they took out the starter, Duron in the 1st half against Pasadena, no need to risk getting him hurt. Duron is having a phenomenal year, both passing and rushing. He has completed over 78% of his passes for 936 yds and has run 17 times for 180 yds, a 10.6 average. Angleton has used 12 ball carriers, 5 of which are running backs with 1248 yds on the ground on 137 carries, an average of 9.1 yds/carry. The 2 most used backs, Neyland and Moore are a thunder and lightning combo, with Neyland being over 200 lbs. and Moore having 4.4 speed. This could be the first game this year that the starters have to finish the game. OlDawg 1 Quote
OlDawg Posted Tuesday at 02:12 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 02:12 AM Angleton should take it by at least 2 scores—probably 3 or more. The ponies seem a little down this year. I projected Crosby as 3rd seed preseason, so their win didn’t really surprise. But, Friendswood just hasn’t looked all that sharp. Quote

They could have injuries since they seemed good in the 1st few games. But like I said, motivation makes you better. Quote
AggiesAreWe Posted Tuesday at 11:55 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 11:55 PM DCTF has Angleton as a 33 point favorite. Quote
purple reign Posted 5 hours ago Author Report Posted 5 hours ago I just watched the 1st half of Friendswood vs Crosby and it appears that if Friendswood had played the 1st quarter like they did the other 3, they would have won the game. They made every mistake you could think of in that 1st quarter to go behind 19-0. They had several bad snaps, 2 turnovers and just did not seem ready to play. But the 1st mistake they made was scheduling a good team for homecoming. There's likely to be too many distractions. Angleton overdoes homecoming in my opinion. Thursday they even have a parade and a bonfire that night. I'm glad they play Kempner homecoming week here. Quote
Justafan72 Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago This will not be much of a game, and I live in the Friendswood area,so I think the Mustangs have to rely on their chances of a 4th place Finsh.Friendswood has NO ground game and if their only life line is Brister and the air attack it will become JAMMER time, not a good alternative.Angleton plays the JV, who didn't play last night in the 4th Quarter or Sooner, giving my Mustangs one or two garbage TDs.55-21. You're right. The biggest threat to Friendswood is Angleton's passing, not just to Jammer, but to Wesley Jackson, and the others too. Their run defense has been pretty good, except against La Porte. I can't imagine that if Steve Van Meter were still at Friendswood that Angleton would have the 6-game win streak. Not that there's anything wrong with Johnson, but Van Meter was special. Quote
