Drew Peacock Posted August 23 Report Posted August 23 If the ones played the whole game then this one would have gotten ugly very early. Livingston scored 3 TD’s in their first 5 plays on offense. Quote

Livingston ones had a couple big plays resulting in back to back scores on the 4th and 5th plays of their first possession. That doesn't happen in the natural flow of a real game because when you score you kick off to the other team (or attempt a onside) and you have to try and stop them. They never stopped Woodville's offense. They scored again on the 10th play of that same possession against Woodville's 2s and never moved the ball much after that Quote

Pretty sure those were backups/JV. Skill wise I think Woodville will be fine, but they struggled up front against the starters from Livingston. Quote

Based on WV comments, you would think WV scored 3 and Livingston 1. Keeping in mind that “WV should have beat Gunter” last year. HarryDoyle 1 Quote

I'm guessing you didn't see when Woodville's 1s had there first 10 or 15 snaps at the start of the scrimmage before Livingston's 1s had there first possession. Cause they definitely moved the ball every possession and were the first to cross the goal line. Would have turned around and did it going the other direction if they hadn't run out of snaps. That's the only thing that really ended any of the drives was the limited snaps in the scrimmage format Quote
BBfan061 Posted Monday at 08:38 PM Report Posted Monday at 08:38 PM In the grand scheme of it all these are scrimmages and should be taken with a grain of salt. This first game vs Orangefield will tell a lot more Setx fan 1 Quote
oldeagle Posted Tuesday at 02:27 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 02:27 AM Three (3) TSWA/Dave Campbell All-State defensive players are not on this team. Three All-Staters on a 3A D-II team are season changers. Most of the O-Line graduated. This is not the same team as last year. We will finish with a good season but anyone thinking we are automatic to return to state are not reasonable. We went to State on defense. We dominated the line of scrimmage at the start of each playoff game and took control of the games defensively. 3agle22 and HarryDoyle 1 1 Quote

Nothings automatic but we didn't have 3 all staters at the beginning of last year either. We got ballers trust me. Sky's the limit. One game at a time though Quote

Defense is a issue as I mentioned earlier but it's mostly not having the right guys out there together. Need to rotate A. Sibilly, Davion Hill, and Nas Harris at the edge spots on the Dline. Need to rotate D.Barlow, C. Mayo, T. Haight, and possibly Nas Harris at the 2 DT spots. Need to rotate A. Esway, M. Menefee, K.Rigsby, A. Williams, and A. Sibilly at the 4 LB/SS spots. Look like we had the right DBs out there although they made costly mistakes that they need to clean up. I'm thinking the coaching staff was using the scrimmages to evaluate so hopefully they have it figured out. If we put the right guys out there we will have a good defense that will get better throughout the year Quote

Yea I honestly didn't think they would keep that same lineup on the DLine. But the head coach isn't known for good defenses and the DC might be too old to care so Quote

Coach Rob was like 32-42 or something which is a little better but would still not look like a great hire to me if our program was where it is now back then. Our program wasn't all that good back then and the previous candidate had changed his mind and took another job so we had to take what we could get. Just happened to work out well. Excellent prediction. Setx fan 1 Quote

FYI, WV does not have the same talent level that they had last year. Still likely to make the playoffs. Quote

Definitely have no chance against Newton and might lose a few more before Newton. 89Falcon 1 Quote
