What causes nearly every alligator attack on humans? Study says it's our fault

So, basically the study says it's humans fault because we were in the water.....lol

I have been around alligators my entire life. I can remember wade fishing with my uncle when I was around 8-9 years old in marsh/rice reservoirs in Louisiana. They would SOMETIMES swim up to us in curiosity and my uncle would hit them in the head with his rod, and they would swim off. They were scared of us 99.9% of the time. We almost hunted them into extinction. When the new laws came out and only so many could be hunted per acre, they started not being afraid of us over the years. Then it became cool to feed them, some thinking it is a good thing to do, when in reality it is a death sentence to that alligator. As soon as that alligator associates a human with food, two different bad interactions will happen.  It will either result in an injury to a human or a shot alligator for getting too close. 

Don't feed gators......

Everything’s our fault, lol.

One problem is crabbing, which is a dinner bell in some places.  At McFaddin, you can’t keep the off your bait in late summer.

Yea, that is a problem because they are not scared of you. You can't bring firearms there.......but I bet shooting them with a paint gun in the head a couple times may keep them away lol

My best day of crabbing was with dead shrimp on a rod and reel on the Pleasure Island steps. Reeled them in on top of the water, made sure they had a hold when close, pulled them straight up and over the step and picked them off the ground. Caught about 4 dozen (that’s 48 for you college grads). If you went down the other end of the steps where the canes are, there was about a 7 foot gator there on the ground. He just laid there and I didn’t mess with him. I know better.
