I was about to start another thread about this.

Canada on August 1: “Oh yeah, Trump is imposing tariffs on us!? We will retaliate with a 25% tariff on US goods. That’ll show them!!”

Canada: “Okay, we will drop our tarrifs.”

I said it months ago about the trade imbalance.

Canada has about 20% of its GDP coming from exports to the US and for Mexico it’s maybe 35% with much more reliant on Mexicans working in the US and sending money home. Mexico would likely crumble if trade to the US was halted.

 They can play hardball if they want or they can negotiate with Trump.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Trump threatened tariffs against Mexico and Canada unless they made an effort to help with border security. Seemed like a reasonable offer to me. Your last sentence is spot on.

Not changing my mind... so many times I've read stock market wasnt a factor of everyday American workers... stock was up for Obama and biden

Do everyday workers have a 401K?

Wal-Mart , Lowes, Home Depot, Starbucks, Family Dollar, Dolla General - they all have 401K's - market should affect them.

Trash was when inflation was 8% and higher 

today it is 3%......

Some things are still high, but somethings are still reasonable.

You can’t change their mind. They just ignore the facts, live their own beliefs, and want to be left alone. You’ll probably get a deflection like a but, but Epstein or money to Argentina. Cry about fuel costs and they’re coming down. Illegals are killing the trucking business. Don’t care about everyone, just their own skin. Our field of work did better pre this administration...everyone is feeling it, we have work but a huge dip. Got a friend in the field who started the same business 2 years ago, I kept him busy with work we couldn't do, these days we aint sending him literally anything... he feeling it right now, Big Conald supporter, I laugh at him when we talk cuz he says ppl are holding on to their money big time right now... bring back biden hell! We were swamped with work

From AI:  The US economy grew at an annualized rate of 3.8% in the second quarter of 2025 (April–June), according to the final third estimate from the Bureau of Economic Analysis. This marked a significant upward revision from the initial second estimate of 3.3%, driven largely by stronger consumer spending and business investment.

It looks like for the 3rd quarter, which will be released October 30, we are looking around 3.9%.  

Remember when Yobama said our economy will never again grow above 2.0%?  He was just trying to let his sorry policies, and him,  off the hook!

Some people need to realize that everything that happens is called “life” and there is not always someone to point the finger towards. Lots of things in the private sector affect everyday ups and downs. Blaming Trump for anything and everything is the easy way out.

I’ve had to beat the bushes several times in my life, but I didn’t whine about who was President.
