I can say honestly, from what I've seen the officials in this area are much better compared to the rest of the state.  This chapter's big problem is a lack of numbers, though.  And the problem is only getting worse as new teams are coming in.  If you are interested in becoming an official for soccer, please contact Kerry Franks at

I agree with the lack of numbers.  Several of the games last year - there were only 2 officials.  I do not believe that they can accurately call a game with only 2 officials - especially varsity games.

HISD uses ONE official for most of their district games.    And they don't usually play nice either.

I could see that getting ugly fast :o   There is no way one official can see the whole field of play.  I guess we were fortunate to have two  :)

We definitely could use more officials, 3 at each game would really be great. I can't imagine 1 person officiating a high school game. I did see that happen a couple of years ago at a tournament in Santa Fe. That was not good at all.
