Why arent BH and any of the GCCISD school playing? It makes no sense to me. Would have a huge crowd and playoff atmosphere. Instead RSS is playing Booker T Washington and BH is playing Heights.  SMH

It has been a long time coming but to be fair up until last year the GCCISD schools didn't even play each other every year. Does seem like a missed opportunity for some revenue and rivalry building for when they are inevitably in the same district in the future.

I am just gonna say it's not a GCCISD decision.  They play in virtually every other sport.

It is not him.

They will play volleyball in the playoffs.

So it’s Poole? Didn’t they play when gage was the coach and Denny’s kid was the qb?

yeah the potential volleyball playoff argument matchup is weak one…the kids want to play..play the non district game early in the season because odds are they will be different teams come November

Well westerburg is gone so the problem should have cleared up lol

They do not play each other in volleyball either which makes no sense

I’m sure TW was trying to schedule tough teams for BH in non-district play. GCM doesn’t really qualify as that right now. Good chance they’re in the same district with GCM next year though.

Sterling scrimmaged BH a few years back and it was ugly. Lee and GCM were in BH district for a while. Your smoking dope if you think it would be a playoff atmosphere. None of these teams would bring a crowd to BH and the game wouldn’t be close. I have no dog in the fight just stating the truth.

We will never know.

A RSS and BH game would. GCM and REL not so much.

GCM Vs Bh would have been a decent game last year. Lee Bh was a good game a couple years ago until the 4th quarter.

He's talking more about attendance (I think). With that, I agree.  GCM has very little fan/student support. It's quite sad.

Kudos to the baseball team for coming out this year though. They need to get their classmates involved as well.

Oh yea I def agree with that. RSS seems to always have a crowd win or lose.  GCM has less fan support then the water polo team.

I attended the majority of the RSS home games in 2019. (didn't attend anything in 2020) and you are right RSS has loyal fans. I remember one cold windy night they were getting blown out badly but the fans stayed and cheered until the end.

When GCM first opened they had a pretty decent following. The move to 6A not only killed most of the programs, it made fans indifferent.

Football has been inconsistent and really has minimal history (12 years) with no playoff wins.

Sterling and Lee have much more in that department (even though the majority of those graduates from the 90's and up are now on the Hill).

Yes I was talking about attendance and atmosphere. Like Patty said, many are RSS graduates from the 90s whose kids attend BH. There is a rivalry between the kids now that wasn't there when I was in school.

Back in the mid 90s BH was a 3a and where you went if you couldn't hack it at 5A Sterling or Lee to get to play. That is no longer the case with the boom that has occurred out there with mostly Baytown people. BH puts a lot of effort into making it known that sports are very important where as GCCISD is more about the everyone gets a trophy mentality with the 3 schools. That way they can have 3 bands, 3 qbs etc.  I much prefer the one horse town where everyone is an eagle and an administration that wants to win and understands the publicity that comes with it.

Now that the schools are roughly the same size, RSS and BH should play every year and I'm ok with mixing in GCM every once in while vs playing an HISD schools or traveling an hour away to play someone.

I often drive by stallworth on a friday night and feel terrible for those kids with hardly anyone in the stands. Most of the time its either Lee or GCM that is playing when I see that. Go watch a BH game on a Friday night and the home side stands are full. If I am kid that is where I would want to play, its a great atmosphere.

    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
    • See why I don't trust my Hogs?
    • Come on dude, don’t take anything away from the kids on the field. If you want to talk uncharacteristic, we made what 3 or 4 errors in game one. Y’all had 2 EARNED runs.  Defense is normally our strong suit. Your ace didn’t strike out a single one of our kids. Like I said also, you did not out hit us in game 1. Hell you barley out hit us in game 2. We had all the uncharacteristic walks. Josh pitched a hell of a game is what made that game what it was.
