well he still has to go through 4 years of high school before he goes so i think that is a little bit strange to already give a 8th grader a scholarship

That is ridiculous.  In 8th grade, at 13/14 years of age NO KID should be committing to any college.  There's too much school left to go.

dont think these camps arent used for future recruiting, I remember back in the very early 80s when I was 11-13 years old my summers were spent at basketball camps not local but out of state, those 3 years I was the camp MVP in a higher age bracket then I should have been.  But after blowing out my knee twice and only measuring out at 5'10" I only managed one year of college ball in Division II.
