District 7

Atlanta - definitely deserving of TOP 20

Gilmer - dominant for a while now and TOP 5 program in state

Gladewater - very respectable program and on the rise once again

Longview

Spring Hill

Pittsburg - Top 20 team last year and going to be better this year

Texarkana  Pleasant Grove - could argue Top 20, but never doubt East Texas

PG is gonna be REALLY good. Only had a couple seniors last season and not sure they started.

GW is iffy to me. Lost most if not all their OL. Still have a good RB and a couple on defense. Kicker might be one of the best in 4A. Also lost OC and OL coach.

Impossible. Because there is no possible way that one district has five teams in the top 20 in the entire state of Texas. There is a very good chance that several will not even win half of their games. If they are all top 20 teams then they are all predicted to win most if not all their games. Do the math, just ain't gonna happen.

I thought the rankings were based off of how good the team is projected to be, not necessarily how many games they will win?

Nah. We were picked to finish dead last in our district last year. Two of the teams we beat (Newton and Kirbyville) finished ahead of us in the postseason polls, too.

I think Navasota probably isn't actually going to be the second-best team in the state after losing Fedora and a couple of pieces. There aren't sixteen teams in 4A D1 that are better than Silsbee, as much as it pains me to say that.

Ranking do matter, especially when you finish the year as State Champs.... Meaning you're #1 when its all said and done Backer.....

I have to admit. I thought y'all didn't deserve that  number one last year with only JD returning. I was doubly convinced after that 14-13 scrimmage win y'all escaped Vidor with against us.

So I guess I have been wrong that once.

Are y'alls kids looking forward to playing BC again this year? I know our kids are.

Remember we only played 2 Quarters with no Special teams.....You gotta factor in special teams its a phase of the game.....Plus the grass was 3 inches high and wet so add that in as well....Remember its not where you start its where you finish.....You can't win the Kentucky Derby with a Mule

Oh, don't worry about us pulling our starters. Y'all are a dangerous team, even if we are way out in front.

24-0.  Remember that number?

I don't think Coach Dubois will be faced with the decision you are speaking of.

Jeez. Don't get all serious... We're just having a little fun. I'll bet that KJ's Dad pulls for us any time we're not facing WOS.

These two groups of kids have had good match ups since pee wee ball. It's been awesome to see what a comparable group of kids (WOS) has been able to accomplish with consistent coaching thru JH and HS.

No hate over here. Now if you want to talk about Silsbee........

Backer you're right this will be the only time I won't be pulling for BC..... Its been a lot of great games played since youth football.....A lot of people don't know about the history between these to groups......Grad cut his some slack, Backer a Great Guy I can vouch for him on that note.....You know I don't vouch for a lot of people on this site.....lol

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
