Just thought that was a bold statement considering you have not played any of the tougher teams on the schedule. Dayton is a good program and I expect that they will make a run at the title, but there are 3 good teams that will have a say in that as well. Should be an exciting second half of the season. This was the game I worried about the most. We just don't match up well with your power running game. I believe we have the best athletes in the district but not enough hosses. That's why we lost to you guys last year but could handle Crosby and Dayton. So I'm hoping for a repeat of last year where you lose to Dayton and Crosby and we still at least win a district or co-district championship. :P

 

And I'm not even going to get started about the officiating, they didn't effect the outcome of the game, ya'll ran the ball down our throats, but wow.

 I knew this game was going to a tuff one because ya'll have some athletes, and speed. I thought that our offense might wear your defense down as the game went on with only 15 players. Good luck to ya'll, it was a battle...But the officiating is always questionable at the middle school level.. Tell your son good game, and nice TD catch.

Oh no, my identity's blown!!! Must be my resemblance to my avatar. lol. Thanks, I'll relay the mesage to him. Not sure which BH parent this is but good luck to ya'll too. Talking to him this morning, I didn't realize that all three starting defensive linemen were out for this game for various reasons. I knew one would be out, but all three? Talk about bad timing. But then again if we don't throw that pick six at the begining of the game then lose two on side kicks, this game may still have gone our way.

 

Anyone know how Crosby did?

Dayton 8th A moves to 4-0

Ya'll have one more cup cake to beat before you finally get tested. Crosby gets their first test with BH North. We have a bye so I might just pack up the boys and head to Crosby to watch. I think I have a red T shirt somewhere (Sorry my BH friends).

 

I gotta say that I like the way the schedule played out with all the top teams battling at the end of the season. It kind of gives it a playoff atmosphere.

      So you are saying a star baseball SHOULD be doing full contact football drills during the baseball season as his Baseball team prepares for the playoffs?

      I'm going to agree with this. Individual drills would be fine, but a varsity baseball player should not be involved in full pad practices during the baseball season. Especially, if he is a contributing player on a playoff bound baseball team. This is irresponsible and selfish of the AD/HFC.

      If there's a specific situation that started this thread, I don't know the details.  Nor do I care.  But I do have an opinion about what I'm gathering from some of the comments. My opinion: I do believe that an AD should leave the players of a particular sport to their respective head coach during that season.  The varsity players of that sport anyway.  I believe it's a little different concerning the sub varsity players of that sport.  If an AD/HFC decides to grab some JV baseball players for some offseason football stuff during the athletics period, I don't have AS MUCH of a problem with it.  I would still consider it a common courtesy to discuss with the head coach of that particular sport to consider their thoughts on it. I also believe that ALL athletes should be lifting and running all year.  When in a particular season, I believe that the head coach of that sport should control the reigns on that topic to implement some sport specific lifting/running during their season.  But all athletes should be in the weight room year round. As far as playing multiple sports?  I'm an advocate.  I know that the popular idea is for potentially good/great players in a specific sport to "focus" on that sport.  And I agree.. but focusing on one sport doesn't mean stopping the others.  It just means prioritizing time in a way that extra work is put into that specific sport.  After hours, weekends, holidays/summer, etc..  Just because you plan on making a push into college baseball (for example) doesn't mean you can't work on baseball during other sports seasons.  That's exactly what I did.. and countless others.  Plus, it's important to maybe learn how to be a role player in a sport that you're not the best at.  Because that's coming. That's my opinion.  And I come from an era where kids played multiple sports if they knew it would be helping.  Helping their classmates.. or just contributing to school pride.  I hate knowing that there are schools that could be much more competitive if their kids would just come out.  It's hard for me to understand if I'm being honest.
