JRidge Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 I always said that Ozen needed to get under center with a fullback & tightend package, also multiple offensive formations. I see Suggs has brought this to Ozen and he has placed his kids in positions that they can excel in and he is personally excited about all the talent he has at his disposal. He is a disciplinarian, a thinker and plans well, which will equal future success. Yes the Suggs era will officially be here tonight as their spring game showcases the basics they've put in, in this short period of time. Panther Pride Will Never Die! SASQUASH22 1 Quote

ozensfinest Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 Ozen needs a lot of help and fast, don't mean to be negative nancy but Suggs has his work cut out for him. Aside from a few guys I don't see the talent out there and the numbers are extremely low. Also I really disagree with the style of offense Suggs is choosing to run Ozen O-Line is not very good and good team will just stack the box and force them to throw the ball or the RB's will be getting hit in the backfield all night long. cougar14 1 Quote
BMTSoulja1 Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 It's still early. The o-line will get better by August. Keep in mind that the easiest thing for the big nastys to learn is to run block. With Suggs there, they'll be ready.. Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote
biaplayer Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 You will have to throw the ball, your not gonna get far with a run run run mentality. I'm glad our coach showcases throwing the ball and running the ball, just wish he would update the Defensive coaching. From what I have been reading the school board is interfering with his authority when it comes to how many coaches he can have and what they are due to be paid. Very sad that we have 3 bad seeds that are trying to get in his way! Hope we don't lose our head chief, think he has done a great job with what we have and has started playing underclassmen and it is showing. Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote

I watched them other day and I wasn't impressive at all.I think we have different philosophies. I'm all for this type of offense... You're not, so of course you'd be negative to this. Your a spread guy. I'm not. Lol Quote

Most of you younger genration are gunslinging spread guys. Of course Suggs does not have time or nor will he show everything in his offense in a spring scrimmage. They will need to be able to throw the ball as I would prefer 60% running & 40% passing which we won't see tonight but there is talent their and everyone is in a learning process Ozensfinest! You will not see perfection in a new system which was introduced last week, you have to understand the process! I always try to see the glass half full while others prefer to see it half empty! Quote
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 I for one love the spread, specifically the way Rich Rod had it at WVU and now at UA and the way Auburn runs it. They run downhill with it, the same way you run it downhill in the I-Form, the only difference is you have that option for the zone read. The only school in Texas that does it like that from what i've personally seen lately is Denton Guyer. Yeoj 1 Quote
Yeoj Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 Ozen will be fine. The district is a 4 team race between Beaumont and Mid-county. SASQUASH22 and Mr. Buddy Garrity 2 Quote
JustUs Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 Ozen Spring game looked promising with lots of young talent. The next 3 years will bring the program respectability. Coach Suggs seems to have them believing they can. Quote
JustUs Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 It would be great for Ozen to have Lumberton's preseaon schedule to buid their confidence and get W's in the win column. HamshireFannett,Orangefield and BridgeCity instead they play power House PA- Memorial,WestBrook and a Florida school all 6A schools.Starting district 0-3 is a possibility. So unfair for a young team attempting to get on the right track. Quote
texas13 Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 Hope ozen does well I know they have talent and I honestly believe that teaching those players a different offense than the spread will do them some good Mr. Buddy Garrity and SFA85 2 Quote

JRidge Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 Ozen has two good backs and well less see well Ozen has two good backs. Just 61 players low numbers. GOOD LUCK work HARD. I saw something different. I saw a few good backs and two that are special! I saw two teams with much lesser enrollment than the other two BMT teams get after oneanother with talent divided. I saw some good & bad offensive plays made but remember, Suggs only had about 9 practices to install a few things and try to see who can play where. I think both QB's are capable of leading this team and when all these players play together as one team, then the real evaluations can begin. Suggs wasn't interested in showing his rival schools much of anything! Quote
JRidge Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 P.S. Ozen had about 25 players missing. Some injured and some did not have physicals in time before Spring practice. Three of their best D-Linemen didn't even play but don't worry, everyone will be available in the fall! Quote

Three of their best D-Linemen didn't even play but don't worry, everyone will be available in the fall! I hope you guys do GREAT, but your numbers or low even with as many as 25 out that's low , and I know you didn't have 25 kids out its no coach in the state of Texas that would let that happen to his team, for whatever reason and still have a Spring game., but maybe your three linemen will help you on what I saw you guys will need them. ps I'm not seeing playoff this year, but like I said before we've take care of everyone in district once for you guys Quote
JustUs Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 " UNTIL '' OZEN begin to win year in and out the numbers will remain low and lower to the point the next stop will be 4A. Just this morning after dropping of my child at Amelia elementary school I saw advertisement signs by Westbrook. They will have a summer football camp in June for grades first through fifth. Then August there will be another football camp at Westbrook for grades 6th through 9th. Then some wonder why the kids are more likely to choose Westbrook over Ozen. Another inside note Westbrook alums coach at Odom middle school located in the "PearOrchard" Coach Stump when at the Brook put in his time visiting the Jr-Hi schools showing interest. RG3 and the two before him were too busy or lazy to put in the leg work. It is what it is. Some can and some cant handle the truth......  Quote
