You are hoping against hope Warren pulls off an incredible upset against EC because mathematically, Buna is still alive.  :D
If Warren wins that wont do anything for buna.  Ec will still be district champs  So yea....come on....I hope Warren gets a win purely so they get a w this year.
Rephrase please, Co-District Champs with Anahuac!!
2.
Buc's by 7
OK, so I just read on another thread where you said that Anahuac will win because "they will play hard for Coach Barbay."  Do you really not believe that Newton is going to play lights out for the same reason. . . .especially seeing that they are MUCH, MUCH closer to the situation?  My take on it: Watch out Bucs - the Eagles will be flying high tonight and player harder than ever!!
3.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what they need to change, we have the atheletes but still on Friday Night someone is dropping the ball.
I am going to suggest this. . . .it has something to do with the AD being the trainer (not a coach) and with the success that basketball has,, the kids may not say it but it has something to do with it!!  They shut it down early if they don't have success and begin thinking about playing roundball.  Could be an influence from inside the team or outside on the streets.  Not sure about that but I do agree. . . .they have athletes and the ability to compete!
4.
I think neither team wants to come out flat in the playoffs so they are going to have it next week in order to prevent that. They would probally rather come out flat against one another than in the playoffs. I could be wrong though just my take on it.
I think you may have a good point.  Look at Anahuac.  First game of the year (coming off of a long break), they lost.  Against EC, coming off of a bye, they lost.  So, the coaches are smart for eliminating the bye week prior to the playoffs so they have some momentum going in.  I am not sure how bye's have affected Buna but I am almost certain they don't want a week off before they play Newton.  Now let's look at the warmup perspective.  Buna and Anahuac both run offenses similar to Kirbyville and Newton, so I think it is smart that the coaches are using this as a warmup/tune up before playing these two teams in the playoffs.  Both Anahuac and Buna are underdogs in the playoffs but this may help.  We shall see!!
5.
Well congratulations! U made a highlight video facing 2 of the sorriest teams in SETX. Let me stand up and applaude. hmm our junior powder puff team could make a highlight video against them. Ha. Yall have any highlights against EC? hmmm  ;D
Actually, they have posted highlights from every game this year EXCEPT the ones they lost, for obvious reasons!!  Thanks for getting on here and bashing other teams/kids for their hard work though - I am sure Kountze and Warren love to read comments like that about themselves!!
6. Dear hardin82 aka*blah blah This is what I heard. . . .blah, blah, blah in the past, blah blah blah my senior year, blah blah blah me me me. Who give's a damn? First of all, the people on this board representative of Anahuac have been very straight shooting simply predicting the game or talking about circumstances surrounding the game. uknowit2 and knows2much are not a part of Panther Nation so don't judge a school or community based on idiots with computers. Since you like talking about the past, look at bushpilot's track record - HE'S A REAL WINNER AND GREAT SUPPORTER OF THE HARDIN PROGRAM!! I am sure Anahuac wishes he was posting for them! Also, don't bring up stuff that happened in 2000 because believe it or not, it will not help you in 2009. That group was 9 years ago - absolutely no connection to the current program. AP has more pride than that. In the more recent years you have seen Panther kids on here talking smack and then getting their a$$ whipped 46-6 by whoever (I am sure Hardin beat them). The clan that roams Pantherland now simply speaks with their pads!! So feel free to tune your radio to 97.9 or read this board but I guarantee you that you will not see or hear AP football players talking smack. That being said, this is going to be a great game between two great teams. Both are high scoring machines and both have defenses geared to stop just about anyone. Both teams have injuries that have slowed them down. I hear that Vilamez is coming back. That will put a little momentum on the Hornets side. Anahuac has Albritton out but believe me, there are plenty of other weapons in that arsenal. I have seen Anahuac play twice this year and they are explosive on the ground and in the air!! Hardin will have a hard time stopping them. I have yet to see Hardin play but I know they are on a mission and are ready to play the Panthers. Since this one is being played in Anahuac and I feel that Anahuac is more prepared for a big game I am going to say they will win. Score: Anahuac 48 Hardin 12
7. I haven't talked to the coaches but my nephew says it is a season ending injury.
8. At our school, we do not do spring football but we do incorporate spring training (weights, 7 on 7, lineman challenges, etc) to prepare our kids for summer basketball!! We strive to be the most competetive basketball school out there, so we use football as a gateway to incorporate "secret roundball training" into our athletics program without actually engaging in practicing basketball. For instance, we work on roll tackling (ie, grabbing a runner by his knees or lower leges and rolling like an aligator to force them to the ground). So what is the signifigance to this drill for football? NONE, in fact it is a strategy we use for when a basketball player from the other team tries to go coast to coast on us and we want to prevent the inevitable "slam dunk"!!
9. Mike_Honcho, Why would you copy something off of a website and post it to this forum after CoachTater has already given the information out? Maybe you are not smart enough but I know how to click on a link for information!! Thanks for wasting our times with another lame post. . .You need to get a life
10. Girls State - Corpus Christi Boys State - Abilene Any thoughts or comments on the upcoming meets? SE Texas will be well represented at both. Any teams have a chance to win it? How about locations? Good or bad?
11. First and foremost, I think that many of the SE Texas girls were cheated at this meet due to bad or biased judging. Think about it - how many girls from WB, BC, PAM, and PNG were red lighted because of depth when they were clearly low enough according to THSPA rules? It was hard to tell exactly what the judges were looking for. I am aware that sometimes judges want a little more depth, which is fine, as long as they are consistent and remain aware of the lifter situation. A girl from PNG was DQed for "dumping" the bar when she really just lost her grip. I watched her fall back to the mat with the bar but the judges kicked her out of the meet. A few lifters later, an Edna girl dumped the bar clearly and the judges simply looked at each other and shook their heads!! I even saw the Anahuac girl bomb in the squat because her knees were bent when the head judge gave the squat command. I think the call was bogus - I have never heard of it before!! As far as the regional director spot, it was up for election/vote this year as the spot becomes open every two years. No one stepped up to "run" against the current director nor was anyone nominated - he was automatically put back in within seconds. I would like to see judges from our area judging in OUR regional meet instead of ex-Palacios powerlifters calling the shots. I don't think that one judge was over 21 years old. Next year, be sure to contact the regional director with judges names from this area in order to have representation at the meet. I have already spoken to several that would be interested.
12. ;D ;D ;D this was actually the website headline when Lumberton was eliminated last week!
13. First of all, Corrigan Camden didn't look like it was too easy as I watched Kirbyville struggle most of the night as CC pounded the ball at you, stopped your running game, and interupted a lot of passes. We all know the score is not the telling factor as the Wildcats scored two late scores. Second, don't overlook Anahuac - they have the weapons to upset anyone on any given night. And lastly, the winner of the Anahuac/Kirbyville game is going to face Arp who is loaded as well. So, the road to state is probably the toughest in the 2A brackett - dont get ahead of yourself bd04!!
14. All three teams in this district will have a very difficult time in the playoffs. Buna will play Newton, Hardin will play New Waverly and Anahuac will play Kirbyville. Newton will beat Buna but it will be a good game. Hardin cannot compete with New Waverly and Anahuac draws the states top-ranked team in Kirbyville. That being said you never know, that is why you actually play the game. Also, November is magical in Texas, you never know what will happen. Good luck to all of the teams in 23-2A in the playoffs. P.S. No disrespect to EC, I just think Buna wins and earns the playoffs.
15. Hey crazy, quit acting CRAZY - do you really think that district 23-2A is going to not have these two teams playing in district? Crap, that would send two non-deserving teams to the playoffs with the absence of these two teams. Trust me, things will be worked out. In fact, there is a district meeting tomorrow to decide what is going to happen in the district, and that meeting does not include the forfiture of Anahuac and East Chambers. One of these two options will probably happen: Week one of district will stay the same except Anahuac and East Chambers may have to change sites if they have home games or Week one of district play will roll to week 11 which is the open week of the playoffs for district 23-2A due to 24-2A not having football schools. The second option seems to be the most fair and obvious solution but you never know what they will decide. I know Anahuac will start practicing again this week but not sure about East Chambers. Trust me, neither team will be a forfeit and neither will be an easy one so gear up!!
16. Anahuac was up by 30 with about 1 minute remaining when I left. 64-34 (?)
17. Hardin and Kountze battle it out for the third place spot. EC and Buna go to war for first place. Anahuac and Deweyville will compete for a single win in district and Warren is on vacation. What will happen? My predictions: Kountze over Hardin 34-14 Kountze has the speed to match up with Hardin and they will keep pressure on the QB. Buna over EC 42-35 Buna is very disciplined and they play hard. As long as they don't turn the ball over too much, they will beat EC. Anahuac over Deweyville 14-7 Anahuac is coming around. They are playing hard right now even though playoffs are out of the picture.
18. Just want to let everyone know that Anahuac will take this one with no problems. A-1t.e.#3 (Matt Johnson) is the real deal. He blocks very well and catches anything that comes his way. The most impressive thing is his breakaway speed after he catches it. Watch out 24-AA, Matt is coming hard. He is a senior and ready to win district. He will bring it to you!!!
19. First, I would like to clear the score up - it was 3-2. 2-1 in controlled part and 1-1 in overtime simulation. Both teams had multiple interceptions but they were blown dead after the catch. Anahuac looked better than I figured they would. They have good looking kids there but obviously under a new coach and staff they will take a while to play to their potential. I know that the offense suits their kids there - they are running the ball a lot more this year. They threw the ball a few times. Passes from the pocket were not very good - in fact, two were picked off. When the quarterback rolled out they looked really good. It seems that the kids began the game really pumped up and excited but got tired really quick. I was impressed by the way they drove the ball in overtime simulation though even if they were tired. The just handed it off 4-5 times in a row and crammed it down BC's throat. BC looked better than what I thought they would. I figured that there was no way BC could run a spread offense but they move the ball well in it. They ran the ball a lot. They did a good job of picking Anahuac's weak spots and hitting them. Defensively, they swarmed to the ball. Like I said above, Anahuac moved the ball good but BC did not give up the big play. On a sour note, the officials did not do a very good job. It seemed that they didn't have much control over the scrimmage. They would flag some things and not others. I saw them mark off illegal procedure calls sometime but not others. I can think of one play that BC linemen jumped but the officials still gave them credit for a 15 yard run. It is just a scrimmage so no harm.
20. Is this really true? Does anyone know why he was not renewed? Was it the football record or something else? Any info??
