1. Just got back from the game, BH is looking tough...Offense is playing good-execution and ball control. Defense is playing good run defense and secondary had a couple of picks by Morton. Keep up the hard work. Don't think we'll lose again till the playoffs. THIFR ;)
2. What happen? Haven't read any talk or local newspaper coverage for the game. I believe Lee is winless on the year but not sure what teams they've played. So don't know how tough there schedule has been. This may the first time in school history that both these teams have met on the varsity level. Hate to use the cliche that this is a must win for a playoff spot, because you want to win them all. But we've already lost to Dayton, GP is playing well, Crosby is the defending champs so it looks like a big game. But that's why they play the game, anything can happen. My prediction is that BH wins if they take care of the ball, if not it could be another long night. Don't care who you play, if turnover the ball as much as the Eagles did last week your not going to win many games. Good luck! Beat the geese!
3.
Wow!  Barbers Hill lost 54-0 and according to some showed no respect for the fallen WOS QB.  I think Coach Gage has two things working against him.  Barbers Hill stayed with the previous coach too long. The manner in which the boys were alienated by being placed on either offense or defense in jr high and never allowed to compete for the position they wanted to play.  Thus a mass exodus of talent from the program until his last season and barely more than 30 thirty players on Varsity for 4A football program.  2A programs have more players than that on Varsity. Secondly, BH is not equipped to run the flexbone.  Although I dont believe the offense gave up 54 points.  You have to recognize what abilities your players have and design an offense around them, not put the players into an offense that clearly doesnt compliment them.  A pro style passing with off tackle runs would best suit them.  Unfortunately for some, we will have to wait a couple of years until the jr high comes up into High School to see the number of kids and talent level that we have become accustom to see if Gage can be successful.
I know it wasn't going to take long before certain people would start playing the blame game and pointing fingers to the previous staff. Move on!!!! Don't know what you’re talking about leaving kids on offense or defense and not letting them compete for a job. Most all kids had to play both ways on the sub-varsities’ because we had many teams: A/B Teams; even a C team (some years) for each the 7th and 8th grade. Then you have 2 fresh teams, a soph and JV team - so I believe your complaint about kids not having a chance to play what they wanted or play either offense or defense is invalid and holds no truth. They had no choice….We also preached and based our sub-varsity programs on participation along with winning. Most kids that aren’t playing is due to the fact that they didn’t want to put in the hard work it takes to be a “Barbers Hill Football Player.” It’s so much easier going home after school and getting on the computer, playing play-station or X-box. Moving on I defended last year’s staff when people were complaining about the offense, I’ll defend this year’s staff as well. Any offense will work when it is executed: meaning PLAYERS have to block, catch, run with the ball without fumbling, run the correct routes, tackle and so forth. I’m sure these coaches are coaching our kids to do that so it’s up to them to execute. Also about missing the national anthem and the pre-game prayer and dedication, enough – in no way do I believe that was purposely done. Support the kids, coaches, program and quit complaining. Negativity breeds negativity – our kids get on here and read these post, it’s so bad for the morale of the team.
4.
Well, Price's team would have been beaten 100 to nothing, and YES I don't know why coaches can't run a basic program in HS, this razzle dazzle stuff has to go.
Why do we have to bring Coach Price's name into this forum....? We didn't want him here so we ran him off so PLEASE leave him out of the topic. We wanted to move on so we did...
5. Sounds like typical first scrimmage (didn't make it), trying to find kids that can play when the lights come on. It's totally different when your playing a varsity team instead of going against your JV at practice or even 1's vs 1's. It's funny how last year when I posted that Pasadena Memorial had a good program (good coaches/players), how they had been in the playoffs and got beat by Katy a couple years ago in the regional semi-finals and a couple of you guys were telling me they were average/terrible. Good luck Eagles as you start the season! Real test comes this Friday night.
6. IMO - It may help a little but if you were that good they were going to find out about you back in the 70's, 80's and 90's, the internet seems to overhype kids. No telling how much parents/kids are paying to be a part of all these recruiting websites. Big money maker... Look how many don't pan out.
7. Said to be out here in about a week....Who do ya'll think will be on the cover? I'm hoping it's Mike Leach locking Graig James and his son in a closet. That would be nice.  ;D ;D
8. Back on subject....Anybody know if BH will have spring ball this year? It would be nice to see some football this spring, what the offense and defense will look like? Who will play where (positons) and some live scrimmages.
9.
Just curious... I know BH had a school board meeting a couple of weeks ago... Will they have a special meeting to hire Gage? When is Gage officially on work? GOOD LUCK TO COACH GAGE!
According to the article he's already been voted in at the last meeting (last Monday night), not sure when he starts.
10. Article from Abilene Online Newspaper: Hugh Sandifer confirmed Friday that he is a candidate to fill the head football-athletic director vacancy at Class 4A Mont Belvieu Barbers Hill. However, the 24-year Wylie football coach-athletic director said any talk suggesting he’ll be the next Eagles coach is premature. “I’m not actively looking to leave (Wylie) or anything like that,” he said. Sandifer said he and his wife, Brenda, were invited and chose to make the trip to Mont Belvieu, located about 30 miles east of Houston, this week to “check everything out.” He described the visit as “low-key and informal.” Sandifer said it was the Barbers Hill administration that contacted him about the job. Asked if Barbers Hill offered him the job, Sandider declined to comment. Barbers Hill is replacing coach/athletic director Don Price, who resigned Nov. 18 after posting a 99-35 record in 11 years with the Eagles. Price, the second-winningest coach in school history, coached Barbers Hill to 5-5 regular-season record and a fourth-place finish in District 19-4A this past season, which ended with a 21-7 loss to Port Neches-Grove in the bidistrict round of the 4A Division II playoffs. Rumors that Sandifer was being pursued for the opening took hold earlier this week, as his name popped up on numerous high school football Web sites. Among those are smoky.com, a site run by Texas high school sports pundit David Smoak; setxsports.com, a site specializing in sports in Southeast Texas; and 3adownlow.com, a site dedicated to sports information pertaining to 3A schools. “My wife and I went and looked. Once it gets on the Internet, everyone makes their own assumption,” Sandifer said. Sandifer, who has a 211-80-4 record at Wylie and formerly coached the boys basketball team, has built the school’s football program into a Class 3A powerhouse. Wylie has made 16 consecutive playoff appearances, claimed at least a share of 11 straight district titles and played in three 3A Division I state championship games — winning the title in 2004. Barbers Hill, which claims to be in the top 5 in teacher salaries and to have a $250,000 athletic budget, has had its share of football success as well, but the Eagles’ success has tapered off some since they made the jump from 3A to 4A in 2006. The Eagles, who competed in 3A or below until 2005, won the 1A state championships in 1971 and 1976, but Barbers Hill hasn’t advanced past the area round of the playoffs since 1999. Price had five perfect regular seasons during his time in Mont Belvieu — including in 2006, Barber Hills’ first year in 4A. But he was just 24-17 in the school’s four years at the 4A level and 14-16 the past three seasons. According to a story in the Baytown Sun, when Price resigned, the coach was making $98,800 annually. Sandifer’s youngest daughter, is a Wylie senior. He is a 1978 graduate of Abilene Christian University, playing basketball and baseball for the Wildcats.
11.

Jody, I mean bh89-2, that looks like you and BHFAN. BHFAN is the mule and you are the trailer. I know BHFAN is a little larger than you but thats the picture I see when I see you two together. I sure hope he has turn signals we don't need any broke noses.
Had I known you were into watching guys, we would have given you the ride long ago.  Come out of the closet man and take the caddy for a spin.  Pretty sure Stranger will help lube your wheels if they start squeaking....... ;D ;D ;D    Keeping on topic, how about Neuman from Nederland?   ;)
I think Neuman had an offer from LaMarque a couple of years ago and turned it down and I believe Nederland gave him a raise. Don't know if he would even apply - don't know the guy but we will see.
12. This is so uncalled for - somebody needs to remove the post above. This goes way past the line. First of all don't ever bash a coach, it's even worse you attack them personally. This is not what we stand for at the "Hill". You may have your personal agenda like many do in the community buy don't join them. Stay true to what "Barbers Hill" stands for.
13. I haven't been on in a while but have been reading the boards. Very entertaining. I was wondering how I was going reply to this post. First of all to answer the thread - I pray that Barbers Hill hires the best candiate available, not somebody that is already in the mind of the powers to be. With that being said - I'm a Barbers Hill Boy born and bread - I truly believe a mistake was made. When I see every board member I will tell them respectfully. We all know the success the athletic program has had since Coach Price took over in 1998. Not ever in the history of the school has athletics as a whole had so much success. This is not all of Coach Price's credit - this is the credit of the coaches he was able to bring in and work with our great kids. They are the main credit (kids) they have allowed us to coach them. Our kids are not the most athletic - but for the most part we have hard working kids that love to work and be pushed (credit goes to parents). Don't get me wrong there are crazy parents out there that believe there kids are all-americans and it's the coaches fault that they don't get athletic scholarships. You have that every where. I pray Barbers Hill the best on the hiring process. Just to let ya'll know - I met with Coach today for over an hour. It was a great talk - I'll let ya'll know this much - he still has the desire and fire to coach. Kinda wanted to suit up or get my whistle out. Coach Yzquierdo
14. Come on Eagles, sounds like if we elimanate the turnovers we'll be ok. Gotta keep your heads up and focus on North Forest. Good luck this coming week and have a good week of practice. See ya'll there next Friday!
15. I wouldn't be surprised if this team makes the playoffs - good rb and a leader at qb, ingredients for success. They had a good offense last year against BH when we played them but they just had trouble on defense. But I'm sure they have worked on that, looking at their record this year. Don't take this team lightly. Oh yeah, I'll take GCM big over North Forest.
16. Good luck this Friday, the season starts this Friday night. Beat GP! Coach Yzquierdo
17. Good luck Eagles this week! Won't be able to make it - working. Keep up the hard work! By the way Pasadena Memorial is far from being "weak", some people think they know everything. Two years ago they lost to Katy in the state quarterfinals and last year still made the playoffs (after being hit hard by graduation) in a pretty tough district were Pearland went 12-1, LaPorte went 8-5 and Deer Park was the other play-off team.
18. I didn't realize that this has turned into a community forum? But I will respond when my name is thrown around.....I love the growth that has occured the past 10-15 years and I hope we get even bigger, I welcome all new-comers to our town/school. What I don't understand is when people do move to BH - that one of the most common comments is "we didn't that way where we came from." That's what I have a problem with....Most of the time, people that move here, come from near-by communities, because BH is a great community and great school district. We do things at BH with tradition that has been built over the years and hopefully continue to do so. Don't get me wrong, there is people in this community that hate the growth - locals against the rec center, wave pool, golf course and all the new houses being built I do not fit into that category. Good Luck Eagles this Friday night! I have to work and can't be there - but will be there for PNG.
19. Go-rilla - you are correct, Shows was a solid back and a work-horse. BH has had some good backs going back into the late 90's Phillip Davis (unbelievable athlete) Chris Methner (tough as nails) Thurman Blake (work horse and tough) Perry Carrington (quick and had speed) Casey Shows (hard working - tough) As I mentioned earlier the Pattons and Little. Those are just the backs. Sorry if I left anybody off - Yes BH has had some good talent come through the past 10 years +, but when you get in the playoffs and get passed the 1st/2nd rounds everyone is good. Also no disrespect to our kids the last 2/3 years, but the talent pool has dropped off and it hasn't help that we did go 4A. That's even more reason for the kids to be working harder. The coaches push them to their limits in athletics but after school and summer time is when you also have to prepare to win, and going to the rec center and doing curls isn't going to help. Don't get me wrong the numbers have increased of kids working after school and summer time this past year. Keep up the hard work. I've heard stories about how the coaches had to run the kids out of the weight room in the early 2000's - they loved to work and I believe as the younger kids came up they just expected to win because they wore Barbers Hill on their jersey (not gioing to happen), especially playing against Dayton, King, NF and Crosby. As you know we're not playing the smaller/weaker 3A schools anymore. BH Fan, I didn't relize that when you went off to college to get a teaching/coachng degree that you selected what classification you wanted to coach? They didn't tell me that at SFA. Somebody help me with that one. I didn't know that their was strictly 4A coahces out there? As for you being a burger flipper - somebody has to do it. As long as you don't burn them or spit on peoples food.
20. BH Fan - I have read some of your post too - the play calling is fine. That is not the problem. The problem is the lack of excution. If we block who we are supposed to block we should average 5-6 yards on a run and complete our passes if the recievers run the correct routes and catch the ball. You call it conservative? I don't see that, help me out. For the running back position, that has been a concern. But I think Bradford is going to turn it on this year. He's only a junior this year, last year he gained a lot experience playing on Friday nights. BH 34 we have had some good backs since Blake, how about the Pattons and Andrew Little? That is in the past now, so we can't worry about that. Let's go Kade! For TNTmom - no hissy fit was thrown. I was stating my opinion as you were stating yours. You get on here and talk about a coaching change. Realize that you are talking about people careers and people working with 15 to 18 year old kids. With all that being said, Good Luck Eagles! Keep working hard! Don't listen to all the negative post on here.
21. BH89-2 you kill me - really. What do you do for a living flip burgers? pick up trash? I'm sure your Tifi football team and your coaching is the best in the world. Why don't you put on a coaching clinic so the coaches learn what not to do? Better yet go get a teaching degree so you can start coaching, but you probably can't do that because your to stupid to get into college. I would like to know who you really are? But your probably to much of a coward to come out and quit hiding behind the screen you type on. Well I tell you and everyone else on this forum who I am because I'm not scared. My name is Raul Yzquierdo (Coach Yzquierdo), for the past 7 years I was at the "The Hill" and loved every minute of it, but I got a opportunity in the spring that I couldn't pass it up....Enough of that, really I would like to know who you are? I have brothers/cousins and friends that go way back. I'm sure you weren't ever in athletics or even played football. You probably weren't good enough to be a PE stud. You get on here and criticize everyone from the coaches to the managers (water boys/girls). Get a life, or does just revolve around Barbers Hill Football (sad)?......... I'm sure, I know that the coaches were looking for certain things going into this scrimmage, players that can play on Friday nights. But your to stupid to see that (that includes TNT_mom). I got one thing to tell you (TNT_mom), why don't you and your family move back were you came from (your in need of a community change). Nobody invited you here anyways. I promise nobody is going to miss you all. I tell you for a fact right now, and anybody is welcome to challenge me on this, the coaching is not the problem. I promise you all will hear more from me. Later
