How can anyone have a problem with the statement, "We have athletes they had football players.". He knows that the coaches make football players. He gave the Jasper coaching staff and players a compliment. I have seen many times on this site.....You have a bunch of athletes....but you fall short of your expectations. Dan Hooks just motivated his athletes by letting them know that they are not a football team yet. He is a good coach, knows the truth, and is trying to get his team back on track.

I think its going to be a close one. Orangefields pre-district schedule is perfect for a new system to take hold. This is the week that all cylinders should be firing. It couldn't come at a better time. I'm going.....I have a feeling its going to be a good one.

No football for Silsbee this week. Who would you go watch? Why?

See......This is what happens when a team starts to believe. You can say all you want, but WOS and Silsbee better watch out. If a WOS or Silsbee team goes into a 21-3A town with a W already in their bag....boom! (It has already happend) The other teams in 21-3A are wanting to make a move. Mark it down.

Don't get me wrong mudcat. I am a firm believer in...My better is better than your better. If a high school coach does everything correct......Winning ball games happens. Talent with out desire, knowledge, discipline, and heart is waisted.

Don't agree. If coaches are overrated at the high school level your wrong. They have a direct effect on how their teams perform each and every Fri. Look at Orangefield......I dare you to go up to any parent or student and tell them their new coach isn't worth every penny they are paying him. He is turning Orangefield around. The spark he has given is starting to flow through their comunity. That spark wasn't there last year. He will have them compete in District play this year. Look at PNG.....Their new coach has done nothing but good. If you want to know how you should start a program up look at what he is doing. He knows it all starts when they turn 8 years old....from the ground - up. New grade standards.....want more? A good coach wants a challenge. It is proof that he is making a difference on the field and off the field.

Orangefield has got to be happy right now. They cant be over looked now.

I'm not trying to be mean. You do realize that Silsbee had three Sophomores starting on the O line last Fri? On top of that, none of the line has played more than 3 complete Varsity games. They are just now starting to catch up to the speed of the game. Lumbertons D did put pressure on JJ. They should have. But.....in the second half Silsbee only got into trouble when JJ felt he had to go to someone other than his first or second read. I'm not downing Lumbertons D, just giving you some info that you might not have known.

Yes, Orangefield did the right thing by hiring coach Huckaby. The kids believe. 21-3A look out for the Bobcats. Don't over look us. Good job Orangefield. You have a couple of Silsbee fans glad your doing well....but not liking it. Keep it up! You are now- not over looked.

I want to say a few things....but it is what it is. I know I have to wait a day or my post might be put on the Classics and laughed at for years to come.

I had to let some time pass before posting on this one. > , We didn't win because of this or that. We could have, Should have. I wouldn't have done that- I would have done this....,blah blah blah.......Wow, I feel better and didn't hurt the feelings of anyone! Did I cover everything?

Gotta few questions. In the golden triangle what percentage of high school boys play football? Is the percentage of boys playing football down at HF? If so how much? A successful program, for any sport, needs good numbers. Good numbers = competition If the percentage is alarmingly low, (I don't know what that number would be), you have to find the problems and fix it. If the percentage is above average....you should be ok. Am I off track in thinking these things?

The Silsbee-Newton game will be shown next week.

At the end of the year I believe that BC, HJ,and Orangefield will be happy with the way their year ended. Two of them will not be in the playoffs but all will fight for it. All three of these towns look better than they have in years past. It is due to hard work and a desire to be better. The new leadership is taking hold....that's good. They also have a group of younger kids that have already competted well against WOS or Silsbee, so the can do attitude gets bigger. WOS and Silsbee will be in the playoffs this year. BC don't over look Orangefield, the wing T is nasty. HJ don't over look BCs young talent. Orangefield don't over look HJs speed.

The Tigers got off the bus thinking that they already had the win in the bag. "If Kirbyville won by 50, we will." I hope that they learn from this and move on. One good thing is that they still have three top quality teams to play before district starts. It can only make them better....hope they show up to the games with an empty bag not one with a W already in it.

Going to Diboll tonight to watch my Tigers play.......Diboll is closer to OU than Silsbee.......This Sucks.

What has the best chance of improvement? A young team in an old system or an older team with a new system. Bridge City, Orangefield, LCM, PNG, Jasper, even Silsbee....Ya never know untill the end. I believe alot of the teams in the Golden Triangle are going to improve more this year than in years past. This year is going to be a good one.

If last years went to OT. Ya gatta go with Orangefield. Lots of positive things going on in Orangefield. 36-12

The first of three tests will be Lumberton. The players know it, coaches know it, and fans know it. The good thing for Silsbee is that they have a wonderful schedule to build off of. They will learn a lot in the three games coming up before district....but they will teach a few things as well. I do like the talent and speed of this D. Its going to be a good year of Tiger Football.

As a Silsbee fan I'm looking forward to seeing how this game is played. Hasn't this game been close the last few years?
