1. Hopefully he can straighten his act out here.  Rattler defense should be really good this year.
 2. Brenhamfan, what's going on with Darrion Johnson.  Did he transfer to Navasota?
 3. They should have let him play more against Navasota.  They needed all help they could get that night.
 4. Maybe, but if that's the case just imagine what they would do against WOS.
 5. He is a senior.  We lost our 1st team all state lb the 3rd game of the season to a broken leg.  Both are seniors.  The lb actually got cleared for full practice this week and and will be dressing out with the team tomorrow. [Hidden Content]
 6. This morning Xavier Creeks, #8 starting RB, was in a car crash.  He broke his leg and will not be playing in the state championship.  Please keep him and the rest of the team in your prayers.  It has to be really hard on not being able to play, but the most important thing is he is still alive.
 7.
Gilmer-38 Navasota-13 Please ask why! 8)
Navasota will have 14 before the end of the 1st quarter.  Gilmer is giving up over 21 pts a game and haven't seen a offense as good as Navasota.  I am not promising a win, but Navasota scores at least 35 in this one.
 8. I am originally from Dayton but have been living the Navasota area for the last 7 years.  I think it is great what this football team has done for the community.  It is awesome going to the games and having standing room only no matter what stadium we play it.  I don't think we will have that issue this week.  But then again all of Dallas might show up, could be the only time any real football goes on at the stadium this year.  I just don't see their defense being able to make enough stops to beat us.  Congrats to all the members of the football team that made all state.  Especially Austin Collins, both 1st team offense and 1st team defense.  I can say I have never witnessed that before. Navasota 48 Gilmer 28
 9. Just be lucky its WOS PE team and not Navasota's.  ;)  Everyone should lighten up.  If people are giving you the business about your team, it is a show of respect.  Unless you are from Liberty or Barbers Hill.  Then it's probably true.  :P
 10. I have to admit last weeks thread was so much more interesting than this weeks.  ;D  All week we had about 50 WOS posters telling us about the "ChainGang" and how crazy and delusional we were that we thought our offense was going to put up many points on that defense.  This game actually scares me more than last weeks.  The boys have come so far, hopefully there will be no let down coming off 2 games against top 5 teams in the state.  Community Pep Rally Thursday and game time on Friday.  Hopefully this time next week I will have my reservations for Jerry's World.  Lets go Rattlers
 11.

Did you really watch navasota play. Their qb is a stud with a cannon. Their lbs are better than sc and have a better overall defense than sc. I think your looking through rose colored glasses.
I know exactly what I saw....just because the QB has a great arm, makes him a great QB? Their defense is better vs 3a teams....no need to keep talking about this unless we actually played against each other, and that won't happen
But if they did play it would be just another loss for SC.

Yes GT has big numbers but GT SC and maybe Pearland DAwson will move up next alignment if the districts don't fudge the numbers which happens a lot with multiple  H.S. in a school districts. Hey GT offense is really good but we shot ourselves in the foot too many times. Gt earned the win  and I hope they win it all.
SC will kill Navasota! Even though I understand when you say some 3a schools can beat some 4a schools, and some 4a schools can beat some 5a schools....but only a great 3a school can beat a average to good 4a school....
Not so fast my friend.  Navasota would put 48 points on SC before halftime.
You dreamed that last night?
I didn't dream SC still in the playoffs, that's for sure.

 14. Bellville has picked up their play lately.  In the end I just see to much fire power on offense and a defense that might pitch a shutout. Good luck to Bellville and anything is possible.  Navasota 35 Bellville  7
 15.
Hey we got beat by an outstanding team last night. I think the only team that can beat Navasota would be themselves. I don't think we played smart Mustang football like we HAD to. We will reload like we have done time and time again. We will be back. We have a good core group that will be back and should have an outstanding freshman team. See if we can't beat that door down next year. As far as choking, no we didn't. Just ran into a better team. We are still an elite team and elite program. AS far as our QB, Jimmy Salter was not the problem, he has played outstanding the past three years. AS far as our offensive coordinator, he did what he thought was the best way to win. It just didn't work out. Now for those commenting about number 14 he is an outstanding young man and SMU is going to be getting a great ballplayer. He is not a cheap shot artist.
I was the one talking about #14.  I don't think he is a cheap shot artist, I was just surprised to resorted to that kind of stuff.  I can tell he is a great athlete, but you can't allow yourself to act like that under pressure.  Sometimes people learn the best lessons in defeat.  I sure he will go on to do great things at SMU.  I just wished he wouldn't have acted like that.
 16.
Warm my crow up and gimme some Tabasco with it please. I was wrong and highly mistaken. GREAT TEAM NAVASOTA. We were manhandled. From jump. To stay in our base D all night was.......baffling. Our QB had a horrible game, but he was rushed and hit ALL NIGHT. HELL maybe we should've held them like we claim they were holding. Taunting only stops when u shut them up and give them nothing to taunt about. We didn't STOP them from talking. If anything we added to their "swag" because certain players left no doubt they were getting in their heads. Run A dime, a nickel, zone blitz..... Something to throw The Rattlers off. I love my Stangs. No excuses from me.
Very well said.  I respect the WOS program.  We did try to warn everyone about this offense.
 17.
I am new to this site and am tired of talking about the game but I will give my opinion. First off, I will congratulate the rattlers on a great performance but I agree with coach Thompson we did help a lot and beat ourselves. I agree the fumbles were just good hits but the picks were unforced. Our qb is a hard worker but I just don't feel he's a big game performer he did this last year. I feel like we have great offensive players who should be given a chance. Every turnover came while we were driving downfield. I also feel our playcalling was too conservative as they were just waiting for our qb to run and the bubble screens They knew we couldn't throw deep on them. We should've mixed it up and gave other people a chance we have a good qb with a rifle arm and good running backs who don't even get a chance. As for our "vaunted" defense. They forced 2 early turnovers but got no help from the offense and eventually tired out. I also saw their "dominant" o line get away with holding A LOT. Again great game rattlers but if the shoe was on the other foot and you had several turnovers and lost you would say you beat yourself too. Oh, one more thing, #60 was nauseous the whole game and kept getting punched by the "innocent" rattlers in the stomach and he just finally lost it. That doesn't make it ok but just because you don't get caught doesn't make it ok to taunt and shove and throw punches.
We turned the ball over 4 times against LaMarque.  Great teams can over come turnovers if they have to.
 18.

It's amazing that you didn't see what your players were doing. 11 and 12 were taunting and pushing after the play all night. So quit whinning.  Number 12 has been a trouble maker all year. You can see it on film and I've seen comments about him from referee's on other sites so please stop trying to make your kids sound like poor little victims. When 60 got ejected it was because 11 shoved his helmet into the ground when he was getting up. No excuse for his actions, but quit acting like your kids were innocent.
They may have been taunting, but I am pretty sure everyone was running their mouth.  The difference was they had no penalties called on them.
So getting away with it makes it OK? Then why are you still whinning about 14? He wasn't flagged either...
First of all not whinning, we won the game.  Not much to whin about.  I said I just didn't expect this from WOS.  What game were you watching.  #14 had two personal fouls called against him.  The first one was on a 3rd down in the first half.  We ran the ball to the left and got stopped for no gain.  He was 50 yards from the play and threw our receiver to the ground, giving us a first down.  The 2nd was in the 4th quarter when he ran threw the back of 1 of our db's after the play was over.  I am really surprised about all the bashing WOS QB is taking from his own fans.  The kid played his heart out last night.  He may have had a few turnovers, but the offensive line gave him no time.  He extended several drives with his running.  This is no place to bash players.  At times he made our defense look not very good.  I wish him all the best.

 20.
I just got back from the pet store and bought my new favorite pet, a Rattler.  The ars kicking had nothing to do with turnovers, it's just the fact REAL FOOTBALL is played WEST OF THE TRINITY......... ;) ;) ;D
Couldn't have said it better smoking baby.  If Navasota and WOS played 10 times, Navasota would win at least 9 of them.  Just to much speed on both sides of the ball for Navasota.  #2 Austin Collins is a special player.  He plays both sides and you couldn't find a classier player on either team.  He scores and gives the ball to the official and gets off the field.  Never runs his mouth.  I did see him pick up WOS players off the ground last night several times.  I again was surprised with the cheap shots WOS was taking.  #14 was doing something dirty the entire night and #68 threw a punch at one of our players.

"We beat ourselves." Read more: [Hidden Content] I am pretty sure you got beat by the better team.  Sounds like the Dawson coach last week.
Very dissappointing statement Coach.  I know that the statement was based on turnovers but even though I wasn't at the game,  I bet some if not all of those turnovers were forced. I know we as fans make these statements but its dissappointing when it comes from a Head Coach.
I agree with you.  Last week there was a 11 page thread about the Dawson coach saying the better team didn't win tonight and everybody had issues with that.
 22.
Y'all are taking what coach Thompson said and making it something else! Go back and watch the film! We were constantly driving on navasota and then shooting ourselves in the foot! Yes navasota made us pay for the turnovers, that's what great teams do! They scored 24 points off of turnovers...add 80 yards of penalties to that and that's what happened! Coach Thompson was right on the money with what he said! I'm not saying the mustangs were the better team. Just wish we could have seen how it would have been if we didn't have the worst game of our season tonight.
Come on now.  WOS only got in the redzone 1-2 times all game and one of those was because of the blocked punt.  Our defense controlled the game the entire time.  WOS did have a few nice plays and then would get stopped and turn over the ball or have to punt.  This game wasn't even as close as the score board showed.  We ran the ball most of the second half.  The problem with facing Navasota is they score fast and get up early on teams.  This puts the opponent in catch up mode and half to start throwing the ball around.  For the most part teams aren't comfortable doing that and it showed tonight.  The QB was throwing it up for grabs.
 23. Couldn't believe I read this right.  "We didn't get beat," WO-S coach Cornel Thompson said. "We beat ourselves." Read more: [Hidden Content] I am pretty sure you got beat by the better team.  Sounds like the Dawson coach last week.
 24. For the most part the game was pretty clean.  All week WOS posters have been giving us the business about defense and Navasota was going to be able to move the ball.  I felt we would have some issues moving the ball, but our defense would carry us to victory.  I was half wrong.  Offense played great and defense is just as good as WOS.  I was impressed with WOS but just to much fire power for Navasota and they were on the field the entire game.  I am not sure who #14 is, but he was taking some cheap shots.  I expected it that last week, but never thought I would see it from WOS.  Nothing to be ashamed of if you are a WOS player.  Great season, and to have that many shutouts is incredible.  Go Rattlers. P.S.  Somebody needs to change their avatar.  :)
