  1. I was thinking Dean or Danny Freed,I forget about D.Tardy throwing for so many yards so thanks for jogging my memory. And I remember Raul also. This has been fun and it has made me recall things that have long been forgotten.
  2. Ok Plumnelly, here we go,oh I just want you to know I do these cold and these really made me think!! #1 Crossland, Thompson, Dorsett, Dupree, Wozniak, Gamble, Russell left and came back one week later , Williams, Moody, and Coach Crouch. #2 Derek Anderson #3 Silsbee- Silsbee, #4 Rick Smith, #5 Clint Plant is my choice but I have someone else in mind .
  3. OK Plumnelly, Shovelhead says Coach Crossland started calling the team Battlin Bears. My answer to that question was Coach Crossland, if true please change my grade to an A. ;D
  4. Plumnelly,I knew the kid had a cajun name and as soon as I read it it was like OH Yeah, you know one of those V-8 things. Shovelhead the Bears name was Honey, but I don't know when the state outlawed live mascots without looking it up.
  5. #2 Randall Dorsett, #3 I remember the kid I think his name was Landry. Oh I didn't give the score of the WOS game,1983 LCM 27 WOS 0
  6. I'll give it a shot!! #1 Jim Crossland-Chicago WFL I believe they were the Fire . #2 I Believe this was also Coach Crossland. #3 Derek Knapp #4 Richard Pannell #5 Don Richards. I really can't remember who wore #0 more than likely a kicker so Knapp was a guess. ;D
  7. A quick kicker story. A few years ago I was at Kyle Field watching A&M play Texas Tech. The game goes into overtime,TT scores and kicks the extra point, A&M gets the ball scores and misses the extra point. I have never left a stadium with an emptier feeling. I felt sorry for the kicker, but I also had a feeling of a game should never end like this. Four quarters of great football and an exciting overtime and it all ends on a missed extra point!!! :-\ Oh and for the record it wasn't blocked, the snap and hold where good, it was just wide right.
  8. Yeah that fumble at the one in the first quarter, or the holding penalty in the third that killed a drive is just as big as a missed kick. As coaches, at any level, we need to make a kid realize not one person won or lost a game. I realize all eyes are on kickers in those last few seconds and if he makes it people say he won the game,if he misses people say he lost the game,IMO neither is true. It's kind of like the QB getting all the glory or all the blame. If you watch film of a game you can find things in every quarter that turned the game one way or the other. The remedy for this is never leave the game on a kickers foot if at all possible.
  9. Congrats Jace !!! You are a great addition to Texas A&M!!
  10. I don't get to see all the players you do Gabe, but if there was a tougher out in this area I didn't see him.
  11. When I think of one team having another team's number I think of two teams that are pretty much equal in ability but something always seems to go wrong for one team which causes them not to be able to beat the other team. WOS doesn't have the other teams number in their district, they are just flat out better!! Just my opinion.
  12. My thoughts on kickers. If he is a true kicker, and by that I mean he does nothing else in practice but kicks. When he runs onto the field in the last seconds and kicks a field goal,he and the other guys who did their jobs for 48 minutes won the game.If he misses he and the other guys who played 48 minutes didn't do their jobs well enough to win. It's a team game.
  13. If you didn't get to see Tim Barry play then you missed a real treat. This kid can swing it!! Out of his 57 hits he didn't have many cheap ones. But more important this is a very humble well mannered young man!!! Congrats and good luck in the future Tim.
  14. Good answers sports guy. Coach DV,I think the kids' love is football and he just feels threatened. But it shows good character by him to come talk to you, and you must be doing something right for him to feel he could come talk to you. Just keep doing what is right for the kids and everything will work out right. As for the other coach, you can't change these types of guys. By the way I'm a football guy but I want my school to win at everything!!!
  15. Dang Shovelhead I had forgotten about Bear Fever!!! Got the fever we're hot we can't be stopped!! ;D
  16. I won't get into this. I was born and raised in Little Cypress, have coached in Mauriceville. If unity means give and take from both ends then I am all for it. 8) MY point is good coaching, hard work , and great effort are way higher on my list than the color of the uniforms. I don't think the coaches or the kids have a unity problem, this kind of stuff usually comes from the parents. All the kids I have coached at MMS have wanted to move up and be a LCM Bear and wear the Green and Gold no matter what shade it is!! My family has been in Little Cypress since the 1940's, a boat load of us have played sports for LCM we are and always have been loyal and supportive of LCM, to have you question that is a joke.
  17. Just a bad joke. With all the talk about LCM not using their true school colors I thought I would throw that out there.
  18. The new helmets do look good Coop. I didn't think that Brown and Silver would look good, but it does. 8)
  19. If they are well coached, work hard, and give a great effort, I don't care if you dress them in Pink!!!! ;D
  20. Gabe, you have kept that hidden very well. Women would pay you millions for that secret. ;D
  21. Gabe, you are a southeast Texas celebrity, lets' hear some good personal stuff on you. ;D
