There were several this week. Five of them stick out to me. Which one is most surprising to you and why? WO-S 42-0 over Nederland Woodville 55-0 over CC EC 56-0 over Kelly Warren 12-0 over Huntington Orangefield 45-0 over Buna All five of these games tell us quite a bit about what to expect this season. But the WO-S dismantling of Nederland is very startling to me. Sure WO-S has better Nederland through the years, but Nederland has certainly been right up there with the best in the Golden Triangle for many years now. This score really shocks me.

Everyone here has been around Texas athletics long enough to know how this works. There is, and always will be, some gamesmanship in this process. It adds to the intrigue. Bottom line is Jasper think their best chance is in a one game series (as I hear a couple pitchers have been slowed by injuries, and not to mention that is a typical strategy when you feel you have a dominate pitcher), and LCM chose home and home flip. I don't buy the Jasper's coach didn't know they were flipping for home and home as the article states. This isn't either of theirs first rodeo. Sooner or later they will play and I doubt very much if the athletes give a rip where the game takes place. Having said all of that, I do agree that being able to flip for playing on your home field should not be an option in the playoffs, but as long as it is then no one has done anything whatsoever wrong by choosing that option. Good luck Dogs.

Ignore the troll. Great season again for the Lady Eagles and Coach Mixon. Hopefully next year will be even better. (Seriously give us a button to ignore trolls or something) -
Lot of quality teams in region iii.

2016 Silsbee, bc, lcm, wos swept Huffman, liberty, splendora, tarkington This is the only year where all 4 games matched teams from just two districts where there was a sweep. The 3 team years had a mixture of districts playing each other and the district champs had byes in most cases.

Congrats Coach Mac and the Horns. Huge win to pull yourselves right back into the mix for a playoff spot. Keep it going. -
Not everything is about money. Feel free to start a thread about the idiocy of the UIL for having an event that does not make money if you wish. Congrats to the Lady Dogs on making it to the finals you have made the area proud. Finish it off and bring home the crown.

Those coaches have the appropriate CDL to drive them, and if Woodville is like most small districts anyone with a CDL and passenger endorsement gets plenty of practice driving. They really are designed to keep students inside in case of a rollover. Thankfully, this bus had the smaller window, and not the large windows I have been seeing a lot on school buses these days. Scary to see those windows popped out like that. Must have been quite the impact. Amazingly the buses maintain it's shape pretty well.

Prayers for all affected.

Liberty isn't a bad club at all. Just won't have the legs to run with Silsbee. No clue what the score of this one might be. Liberty will have to shoot lights out to make it respectable.

Huffman is playing very good basketball. They put a lot of pressure on the ball in the half court set, but that isn't as effective against a team like Cleveland. Both can shoot it well from outside, but Huffman is more consistent. They should be able to win comfortably, but nothing has been a sure thing in this district all year. -

Octavian Burrell was 1st Team Running Back from Shelbyville. Does anyone know if he signed with anyone for next year? -
I was thinking the same thing. That would be a great game to watch.

Yeah, this district race is as good as it has been. 6-6 might be a log jam for 4th place when the dust settles. Fun fact, Tarkington beat cleveland, who beat coldspring, who beat shepherd, who beat liberty, who beat huffman.

Cleveland is certainly down, but I think Huffman, Liberty, Shepherd and Tarkington have teams better than they have been lately. Haven't seen Coldspring, but their scores show they aren't one of their better teams either. This district hasn't been up in a long time. Been 15 years since anyone even made the regional tournament. The top two teams here should be able to beat the 3rd and 4th place teams in 24-4A, our 3rd and 4th place teams well that is a different story. Having to play 24-4A and then 22-4A if you make the second round has not been kind to 23-4A. -

Yes, has been 4 or 5 years, but we have beaten them 3 or 4 times in the years I have been here.
