  1. Amelia bounces back beating Edna 13-6, play tonight against Washington County in championship round. If they win they have one more game tomorrow night.
  2. Last years Newton state championship game in Tyler. It was nasty cold. When leaving KLTV downtown my photog almost killed himself on a patch of ice he thought was a water puddle. It took me an hour to warm up after that one.
  3. It''s not far fetched, things like that really happen, scouts or "friends of the programs" are everywhere, they might not analyze the tape but word gets out through these highlights sometimes it's just a name that sticks in someones head, no I'm not talking about USC or Notre Dame but 1AA schools sometimes. Also we've haven't shown any local high school games live in at least 20 years. Maybe a 1 minute hit during the Blitz tops and we've never sold any game. Another thing it's not free for us to cover anything, they must pay salaries, overtime for photogs, gas(which could kill us this year) and equipment. Cameras break all the time, they're not cheap to fix. I understand what your saying, but there really is not a large profit in doing these shows, they are there for the kids, family and fans to enjoy. Also all local stations sponser various events that help collect school supplies and try to give back to the community whenever they. Good Subject Though :thumbsup
  4. I really don't try to think about the business aspect, but I know that sometimes our shows might help get kids some attention from scouts. As far as money goes, a lot of the profit is spread out thought the entire television family, McKinnon Broadcasting has stations in Corpus Christi and San Diego besides Beaumont. The main thing for people to realize is that like most businesses the actual workers don't have much say in things like this. But I can tell you this it makes me feel good to hand over that Star Athlete certificate and see the smiles on the kids face then get calls from parents thanking me for covering their child.
  5. Last night the Amelia softball team lost a heartbreaker to Washington County of Brenham 3-2 at the state tournament game in Seguin. Tonight they face Edna in an elimination game.
  6. Last night the West End boys were eliminated in the State Tournament, falling 2-1 to the Harvey All-Stars of Bryan.
  7. Last night the Groves National 11/12 All-Stars advanced to the East Texas State Title game by downing New Braunfels 3-2 in 7 innings. They're the only undefeated team remaining. If they win tomorrow night they advance toe the Little League Southwest Regional held in Waco.
  8. At Channel 12 we also have our 12 Star Athlete of the Week.
  9. About to head out, the latest I had tonight was Groves National and New Braunfels tied at 2 in extras.
  10. Orange eliminates Vidor 5-1
  11. Where are those fields located at?
  12. That's great, just one thing, would everyone stop calling them Groves Nationals it's Groves National as in National League. Groves has two leagues, Groves National which plays Little League rules and Groves American which plays PONY rules. Sorry to snap a little but I've read that in local papers and websites for the last month, even though I was an American Leaguer growing up it drives me crazy.
  13. I still like it overall, but the changes did bother me a lot. I know people think I'm weird but I think the equipment and uniforms were too modern for the 80's, field turf wasn't invented yet, you could tell every game was shot at Ratliff with the scoreboard just covered up a couple of things, even though Abilene Cooper didn't make the playoffs one of the teams I think it was Nimitz wore their uniforms, the bracket was unrealistic, they called Galena Park North Shore North Shore Galena, and the last time I checked it takes a lot longer than 6 hours to get from Odessa to Houston. But other than that it was great :ROFL
  14. What were the final scores in both games?
  15. He hasn't added Lumberton yet, but he has the pics.
  16. Actually West Hardin added an "O" logo on their helmet last year. I've sent pictures to the site so it will be updated. Also WO-Stark fans your helmet has been added. Updates might be a little slow for a while, the guy is busy moving.
  17. I remember the old Nederland unis, they were horrible (and I'm not saying that because I graduated from PN-G ) They were black and yellow. The helmets were black with a yellow old english N B decal. Reminded me of the Steelers.
  18. I saw Schulenburg on the site still with the Superman logo only very slightly modfied, I also saw Stamford High has the Superman logo.
  19. Not too big on Superman, I don't know if they still do but at one time the Schulenberg Shorthorns used it. I think they were ordered to stop.
  20. I wonder if DC Comics knows they're using it. There's been various orders at schools to stop using the Superman logo.
  21. I wonder if DC Comics knows they're using it. There's been various orders at schools to stop using the Superman logo.
  22. Go to the link that says add your helmet. There are various way of doing. I'm just taking pictures of the ones I have for the Friday NIght Sports Blitz and sending them to him. Tonight I'll probably send WO-S, Bridge City, Hamshire-Fannett, Hardin-Jefferson, etc.
  23. If you want a great sight for Texas Hs Football helmets check out www.texashshelmetproject.com I'm sending pictures of local helmets to help this guy out. So far I've only sent 5A and 4A.
  24. Next up #1 Brenham. The Cubs are 29-2 after losing a warm up game against #1nationally ranked The Woodlands 7-2. Their other loss was to Bryan early in the year. The Cubs are also ranked #6 by USA Today.
  25. Anything on this one yet?
