Who will it be... Right now the standings are... #1 Galena Park 2-0 CE King 1-1 North Forest 1-10 and then.... Barbers Hill 0-2 Crosby 0-2 Lee 0-2 Memorial 0-2 Dayton 0-1 Who will the last team be that finally gets a "w". This week Barbers Hill plays Nederland, Crosby takes on Pearland Dawson, Lee battles Terry, Memorial takes on Manvel, and Dayton plays Angleton. All 5 teams from 19-4A could be considered as the underdogs with Dayton maybe getting the nod in a very good contest against Angleton.
According to the na-sayers, santa fe was not good when they beat BH, however they beat angleton the next week. Dayton and BH get a win this week.
SantaFe has never played Angleton this year -Smoking baby are you rolling your own again ?
Lee may struggle in 4A. We won't know until we play some 4A teams. Haven't played any yet. Anything can happen. This isn't 2000-2009. This is 2010. I'd just be interested to see what you are basing your predictions on. If it's past year's performance, then fine.... I'd just be interested where the posters that are calling this a two team race are getting their information. Crosby has not done well at all. I would think getting plastered by Montgomery and PNG would hold more water than anything they may or may not have done last year. Dayton I would guess has the best argument. They worked over WOS, albeit in a scrimmage, and they also played a solid 5A team to a virtual standstill.
Crosby got plastered by Ennis last year and came back and won district - Their QB alone is a game changer. At one time I thought Lee might be a contender til I read your posts, Galena Park might be the dark horse this year ,but's that just my opinion .
Elkins is an average to above average team. I'll let you decide. You're the one that was there. They will get hammered by a team like Hightower. I was giving Dayton props for staying with Elkins, because I was trying to reiterate my earlier point about 5A being tougher than 4A. An average to above average 5A team like Elkins will give problems to a 4A team like Dayton or Crosby or Montgomery or PNG or anyone this side of LT. The fact that Dayton hung in there shows that Dayton is pretty good, but I don't know if I would want to predict the outcome of the district based on a bunch of teams that have all lost their games.
You got to be one of the most wavering posters on this board. You point out a negative about every team in the disrtict and that some how gives you validation to discredit anyone else's predictions . Let 's step back and look at the obvious big picture here - Dayton is the number one contender and it doesn't matter how many games we've played thus far it's not brag its fact. This is our district we know a little somehting about the same teams we play year after year theres alot more to go on than just week two of this season. I know Lee strugled in 5a and it looks like they may strugle in 4a welcome to 19A.
It was a simple question. No need to read anything into it. None of the teams have shown anything that would lead one to believe they are a shoo-in. If any of you have seen at least 4 of the teams in the district, then I would like to hear what you think, otherwise don't you think it would be kind of difficult for you to compare the teams at this juncture?
The only team I really know is Dayton and I like what I see this year if we stay healthy this will be a deep playoff team for sure. Your right the rest of "19-a" in my opinion is a toss up you never know whose going to catch fire and peak at the right time.
-
Aren't Dayton and Crosby also winless?
Whats that got to do with "19-a top 4 "- My top 4 picks : Dayton - Galena Park - N. Forest -Crosby or Lee fighting for the 4th spot .

I do think our offense would benefit from running deeper routes on a more consistent bases - burn that "D" a couple of times and then watch our RB explode for massive yardage ! -

To say our kicking game is good would be an understatement we are blessed with one of the best kickers in the state and he's only a sophomore !(45 yarder already) Really hope we don't have to use him much (except for PAT's) ,but if we do he's money in the bank. If our offense jell's with our defense during this bye week I would have to say even with Diggs - Angleton might be in big trouble when they come to town . -
Sounds like Everman reloaded again ! In 2008 I thought it was going to be a Dayton/Everman match in the state finals ,but Sulpher Springs had something to say about that . Maybe will both get lucky this year and get an invite to the big dance .
-
Wow ! I wish I would of went to the game two good teams getting after it . Friendswood you have to admit you almost got your ace handed to you buy a very good little ole 3a team ! We at Dayton knew what you were geting into from playing them every year . Good luck to both teams for a deep play-off run. GO BRONCO'S ---

Sports Print | E-mail | | Comment (No comments posted.) | Text Size Dayton loses defensive battle against Elkins The Dayton Broncos take the field in their season-opener against Elkins on August 27. Dayton’s next game WHO: Angleton WHERE: Home WHEN: September 10, 7 p.m. By JASON FOCHTMAN Updated: 08.30.10 In what Dayton offensive coordinator Jeff Nations called the “most physical battle we’ve has faced in some time,†the Broncos came out on the losing end of a hard-fought 8-3 season-opening game. “It was one heck of a game,†Nations said. “If we hadn’t had those costly turnovers, we could have won the ball game very easily.†The Broncos had three turnovers in the game and couldn’t get a break on the other end. During one defensive play for the Broncos, safety Xavier Baldwin knocked the ball out of the hands of one of Elkins’ running backs. As the ball flew straight up into the air, it appeared Dayton would have a chance to make it a game. As luck would have it, the ball flew directly into the hands of a 300-lb. Elkins lineman who took the ball three yards before being dragged down. Another fumble came just as the Broncos were about to score. Running back Jakari Delasbour looked like he wouldn’t be denied as he ran to the end zone, but a defender surprised Delasbour by popping the ball lose despite his tight grip on the ball with both hands. “Their defensive back made a great play,†Nations said. “Those things just happen in the game of football. Jakari goes in looks like he’s going to score and [the defensive back] makes a perfect punch right under his arm.†The Broncos also had to fight against the best secondary the team has seen this season. “We had to go up against a very experienced secondary,†Nations said. “They have six seniors in that secondary and that really challenged us.†Other than the fumbles, the offense did have some good points including a 65 percent passing completion and Xavier Baldwin and Jamal Fowler both having a couple of good runs. Kicker Juan Carranco hit the lone field-goal for the Broncos from about 22 yards out. Dayton’s defense kept the team in the game and then it was up to the offense to deliver their end. The Broncos will have a bye this week and the coaching staff will look at several different areas to get the team running at the same level. “We’ll look at ourselves, evaluate where we are and fix some things,†Nations said. “We need to fix our problem with ball security and being a little more patient on the run game. We’ve been a pretty good running team and we’ve got to get back to that. I think our offensive line is playing very well and we’ve got to utilize those guys some more.†-
From what I've been told, Angleton is very much a one man team. I think Dayton rolls in this one. Of course, I'm still scratching my head over the Elkins game. I thought Dayton would roll in that one too.
we did roll - its just that we tripped a few times :) - Elkins was a he'll of a team bro ! -
Video highlights (not many of them) are at.... [Hidden Content] We are working on a solution on how to get me some pressbox level video so I can produce a really good game video for the kids and the parents. Will keep you updated. After going through my ground level video, Dayton played an AWEsome game. We had three maybe four plays where we were just one step from making a TD. I think both offenses were lagging because they haven't practiced against speed like there was on Friday. You can't replicate that kind of speed in practice and it showed on both sides. Andreas never got into a rythm just due to the speed of the game. The more he plays against teams like this the better. Carranco is just down right a lethal weapon. Automatic field goal if you get inside the 25 and he had three punts that pinned Elkins inside the 10. An amazing game by Juan. With two weeks to prepare for Angleton I predict Diggs will be having to improvise his offense. No way is Angleton's offensive line better than Elkins. Ripkowski and Wright will be breathing down Digg's throat all night keeping him on the run. Toups Graphics predicts that Diggs runs out of gas in the second half, especially if he is chasing down Delasbour while playing defense.
good post ! -
Ok here is my 2$ worth went to this game and was thrilled to see a great football game. What hurt PNG in this game 5) Key dropped passes that would have been a score 4)Two interceptions both at terrible times in the game 3)Unable to establish the running game 2)unable to put any pressure on the quaterback 1) safeties over the top had trouble with coverage.
Next TV game you need to get Dayton's field-goal kicker we rent him out on Saturday's ( he's already kicked a 45 yarder this year and he's a sophmore ) -
DAYTON FAN EXPECTATIONS WERE WAY TOO HIGH GOING INTO THIS. ELKINS IS A GOOD 5A PROGRAM AND WOULD BE PUT AS THE FAVORTES BY MOST OUTSIDE OF THE DAYTON AREA. SOME NEED TO GET MORE FAMILIAR WITH THEIR OPPONENT. DAYTON DID WELL TO HANG IN THEIR. DIFFICULT ROAD AHEAD.
DAyton expectations are never to high we never pick our team to loose ! No one predicted a blow out either way. This game could of easily went Dayton's way minus 3 fumbles( Dayton was even ahead at half ) - Elkins was a very good 5a team and Dayton went toe to toe with them and I'm very proud of the Bronco's effort in this game especially our secondary who nabed a couple of interception. GOOD JOB BRONCO'S ~~~ THE FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT ! #54 A. Ripkoski had a monster of a game - this guy is the real deal !
