1.
I have a solution: Lets ask UIL to implement a penalty box like they do in hockey ;)
They do...it's called prison.
2. Is there a video out there? From what I'm reading, this whole thing is a PR nightmare. Congrats to both teams/school districts, I saw an article picked up by yahoo sports on the matter. Your a national laughing stock. I played against LaMarque 4 times in 2 years, and also Ozen every year in district. Both teams were tough to play against. LaMarque and Ozen played the game with class but all that pre-game "taunting" to players and fans never was intimidating. We (the team) just thought it made them look dumb.
3. Apparently they did not tap into the "BH smarts pool" when they chose the new football uniform. I still can't believe those kids actually wear those things voluntarily.
4. Oh and one more... NED vs WOS...the badly botched "lateral" call. Heart-breaker.
5.

Bay City in 2000.
I'm with ya on that one
Bay City, Texas City, Smithson Valley. But the one play that stands out, is the last of the Bay City game when NEdDis on the 1 yard line and we run a sweep to our side and it looked like we got in from the RB's dive but the line judge said he was down. NED sideline and fans were going crazy because everyone saw the RB go over. We needed instant replay that year.
6. I went to the Shallowater vs. Borger game for Bi-District, and those Borger boys are huge. Shallowater was no slouch either! Borger has a shifty QB and a Jaq. Rodgers type RB. Their D is bend but don't break. They will give B'wood all they can handle. As a former Borger native, I have to pull for the upset but I know its highly unlikely.
7.
I  had forgotten about this rant on Smitty has about Nederland DC, but I just stumbled across it again. Smitty -- get over it - this is high school football and you are ranting like it is college or pro football. The DC is also a teacher - his more important job, or did you lose sight of that????
He is a PE coach. Not a teacher.
8. We haven't had a REALLY stout and legitimate defense since Mayhew, Cobb, Pilitere, etc were there. Still the same DC, Spell. Anyone can say "fire the DC" but if you go back far enough you will see that alot of the GREAT D-position coaches moved on. That may be where the problem lies. Coach Spell has had his day in the sun. His strategy versus Friendswood alone in 2001 was something to marvel at. Maybe he has lost his touch, I don't know. I haven't been there in a long while. But one thing I do know is this... The difference between a good defense and a bad defense is TACKLING! Fly to the stinkin ball, wrap up and drive through somebody!
9. Probably because William Morrisey played in Silsbee. Any chance they are related?
10.
If anyone is looking to extend their baseball career, look into Lubbock Christian University. They compete in NAIA Division I, Sooner Athletic Conference, arguably the toughest NAIA Conference in the Nation. LCU is currently #7 in the nation and has 2 World Series Championships, 1983 and 2009. If you would like more information about the school or the team, please PM or email me. Feel free to check out the LCU Baseball homepage. [Hidden Content]
LCU advanced to the NAIA World Series again. If anyone is still looking for a place to play and go to school, PM me and I'll tell you what to expect.

12. Sherman vs Denison, aka "Battle of the Ax," is pretty big. I actually went to that this year and the place was packed. It was at Denison's Stadium and it is OLD. It's comparable to a 2A stadium in attendance. Denison's fans actually sat on the Home and Away side and filled up nearly both. Left the isles to the Sherman fans. They are pretty vocal in their distaste for each other, but I would still give the upper hand to Nederland/PNG rivalry. After playing in that game, the only game that beats it is Permian vs Midland Lee/Odessa High. It gets violent with all the hits on the field and the fans in the stands. they aren't friends after like Ned and PNG are.
13. Why?!?! You can't tell me that the Lumberheads couldn't find a more formitable foe? Get outta here. As for score prediction, I'm pulling for the upset. ;D
14. thanks Pirate, Flexbone...I remember the terminology now. It's been a while since all those scouting reports. Obannion and croak are the only two I remember on that team. Fun to play against.
15. So I guess they still put the guy in the slot in motion to the side they will run the football? thats how everyone knows what play they were running in the day. Counter, trap and sweeps.
16. My point exactly. Those were very good teams that played there best ball down the stretch, but what did they do to follow that up in the next few years. No repeat trips to the championship. 2000 was 9 years ago. Some of those kids have Kindergartners now! ;D I am talking about a program that goes four or five deep each year like Lamarque, Stephenville, Highland Park and even what Dayton has done lately. Well put. I said GT (Golden Triangle) and I was refering to 4A and 5A. I consider Dayton a Houston area team. And what has WOS done in 3A? No state titles. Not even a title game.
17. I'm from out of town...is Vidor still running that bone-wing-t?
18. Bru, that would be medics in the plural form...one wasn't enough on that night. That was some devastating hits when we can remember them years later. heck i can remember the last time we played central and nederland they didnt score. Also i can remember that dayton only ran the qb sneak from the middle of the third quarter to the end of the game. It sure is good to be able to go back in the past. Who cares about the scores. The only hit I would compare Pilitere's two would be A&M's Coryatt. You remember hits...scores...eh.
