WO-S vs. Coldspring Playoff Predictions?
Gasilla replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
We have not won a state title in 20 years, that doesn't mean we aren't any good. We get respect from those who are not WOS fans due to our abilities on the field. Don't hate just because some think we will win. -
Who Will Go Out First In The Playoffs Kirbyville Are WO-S
Gasilla replied to skipper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Friday, they looked like a team that is beginning to peak at the right time. -

Agreed! The fourth quarter it seemed like WOS ran the same exact play every play and we still could not stop it. Like someone else said on here what does WOS have to prove against OF. We don't have a history. I respect them and I think alot of WOS people respect us too. I know Hooks and Morrison are good friends and speak all the time. I pull for OF every game but one. I know several of those kids. -
WO-S vs. Coldspring Playoff Predictions?
Gasilla replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Coldspring will be no push over. We have to keep playing good defense and keep up what we had Friday on offense. I think we can score on them, they have given up over 24 points a game. We just need to take it one game at a time an avoid being ambushed in round 1. -

WOW! It's called a 2 minute drill and we definitely needed to practice it. That was about our season going forward, not trying to avoid offending someone. Furthermore, I don't care who you are playing, not allowing a single first down is impressive. -
One of the best JV squads in years is what i've been told. Yes... That's a fact. One of THE best JV squads the 'Stangs have ever had in their 30 + years, and that's saying quite alot! Mix this group in along with some of the other underclassmen and with the Seniors on next years Varsity, and the Mustnags are gonna be a real contender for state for the next 3 years running, not to mention this years #3 ranked 'Stangs...WOW! An extremely bright future in Mustang land for the next several years! Mix in with that an 8th grade group with over 54 kids on the team (yeah, just on the 8th grade) who had an "a" and "b" team, both of whom went undefeated for the season and both gave up less than 20 points total!

One of the best JV squads in years is what i've been told. Being undefeated is only half the story. This team gave up very few points (I would be surprised if it was 25, I thought it was less than 20). They not only won, but they dominated! They beat Nederland JV 33-7 and Memorial JV 36-6. The only close game they had all year was with Silsbee (of course) which they won 12-0. Great job Stangs, looking forward to seeing you next year!

The biggest thanks needs to go to you, Tony Dallas, for coordinating the whole thing! Where there is a will, there is a way, something us Mustangs were taught in our time at WOS. I guess some of the present admin should have been reared here too. :

I really can't believe some of the things I read on this site. Cleveland vs. HJ, in week one, was the worst games Cleveland has played all year. The final score: Cleveland 22 - HJ 0. The bad news for HJ is that the defense that did not allow them to score in week one is even better. Now for the really bad news, the offense that put 22 points on HJ in week one is now one of the best offenses in the state in 3A. Soooo... is Cleveland the only team that can improve? HJ has become a much better ball club. Keep that attitude.

Coldspring is no slouch. They will be a tough test for WOS.

Question for WOS fans regarding HJ-Silsbee
Gasilla replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
You should play the game because it is scheduled and we are just fans talking on a message board. That is my opinion which was requested by a Silsbee fan. All that being said, HJ will still get smoked Friday. I don't mean to offend, but that's how it will go down. -
Question for WOS fans regarding HJ-Silsbee
Gasilla replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
You just looked at the numbers and ignored everything in between... Silsbee will throw more times then WOS. Johnson will look up field and if there isn't anything open, he will tuck it and run. He is going to get some big gains that way. Notice I stated that the rest of the Silsbee running game will struggle, but Johnson will get his. And, since we're on the subject, no, HJ isn't half the team that the Silsbee team that played WOS was. If that team shows up Friday, HJ will get smoked... like it or not. -
Question for WOS fans regarding HJ-Silsbee
Gasilla replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I think both defenses are quick to the ball and play pretty well against the run. I expect both offenses to struggle a bit rushing the ball. I think the difference is going to be at QB. The HJ QB is no Johnson. I think he will be the "X" factor. If he throws the ball like he did against WOS and does what he always does with his legs when things break down, I think he will be the difference. I look for silsbee to win this one something like 28-0 or 28-7. I think Silsbee will probably have around 175 yards rushing and I bet Johnson will have around 125 of that along with around 150 yards passing. -
In my opinion, play calling was not an issue on Friday. Like Ump said, we threw the ball enough on 1st down to keep the defense off balance. We threw short, middle and deep routes. We just didn't run the ball very well. Our line is going to have to step it up over the next couple of weeks. As for those talking about all of the "trick" plays. That's what the spread is about, getting the ball into the hands of your play makers, however that may be. That's what we did and they made plays. To the lineman that doesn't like the rotation. Make yourself a player that has to be on the field all of the time. Don't wait for coach to let you on the field, make yourself someone he can't afford to have off of it. I promise, if you rise above the rest, he will not have a choice but to leave you in. Quit waiting to be handed something and go out and take it... If just one of you will take this mentality on the field, the rest of the line will follow suit and 85 yard rushing games will turn into 285.

I think the WOS JV has only given up 14 points all season long. The 8th grade hasn't given up any.

WOS 8th (A)- 32 HJ 8th- 6

I can't predict how Silsbee will play...

WO-S and HJ JV GAME tonight at orange come see
Gasilla replied to skipper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I dont think it will be. HJ JV has lost alot of people due to grades. But i think they'll find away to stay in it. HJ couchin staff has some tricks up their sleevs ??? Sooooo... Does this mean WOS COACHES SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR TRICK PLAYS!!!! LOL... Kids -
You need to also include the Cleveland strength of schedule... stats can be misleading. Especially in a short season.
-
What's funny is that teams always bring up the, "that's the only thing they are good at" topic on the eve of a game they are more than likely about to lose. Who cares if your the state elite in table tennis... football is king in Texas and 98% of all schools in Texas aspire to be at the top, including HJ. That argument is weak at best and retarded at worst.
-
If HJ can throw, they may have some offensive success. They will not be able to run with any consistency on the Stangs... outside or inside.

*WO-S vs. BC Updates*/WO-S WINS!!!
Gasilla replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Aren't big plays a part of the game? When did they become less important than a long drive. a touchdown is a touchdown. Big plays are definitely a part of the game. A big part when you have the speed we do. But I also understand, and share, the concern with not being able to sustain a drive. Eventually, you will meet up with a team that has the speed and discipline to eliminate the big play. It will come to a point when you need to make a play with the game on the line. You will need a good play call along with good blocking and execution. Do we have the offense, at this point, that can do that? -

Redleg... don't know how you knew, but yes, the turkey legs are back to benefit Project Graduation!!!! We will be selling them tonight on BOTH sides so bring a big appetite because these things are MONSTERS!!! One leg can easily feed two or three people! -
...back on topic... It appears that Cleveland is flying under the radar this year and look to be very tough.

WO-S vs. Bridge City Predictions?
Gasilla replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
A few points here: - I think everyone is a little unrealistic when it comes to their favorite teams. Who cares, the BC guys have a right to believe. I can't see them winning or keeping it close, but they definitely have the right to think they can. - Silsbee has been playing us tough for the last 3 years or so and I think that this is one of those games that they go into believing they are going to play well in, but not necessarily believing they will win. I do not think we had a "bad game" I think Silsbee played up to their potential. - I, too, want to know why Silsbee does not play anyone else as well as they play us. I saw Silsbee play twice this year before they played us and after watching them, would have sworn we would blow them out. Then they come in and look like a completely different team against us. If they could keep up that level of play and intensity, they could do some things.
