WO-S 8th grade finished the season with 57 kids this year. Unheard of for WO-S. It is normally about 20-25. Hope a lot of those kids play in the 9th grade. I think that has quite a bit to do with the new coach over at the middle school. He's a home town guy and he cares about this program and it's success. I hear that he's a good one.

Gilmer will give up points, but trust me the will score more than 21 points. High scoring game ....maybe the last team with the ball determines who wins I know Gilmer is very good, but so is our defense and I do not think giving up more than 21 points to them is a given. They were shut out this year by Kilgore and I feel that if someone else can do that, we can, at least, keep them to 14 or less. We have to play, but I know it can be done.

**WO-S vs Caldwell Updates** WOS WINS!!
Gasilla replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Robinson is the epitome of what a highschool player is all about. He proves that you don't have to be 6'3" and weigh 260 lbs to play defensive end. I wish we had 30 of him. -
WOW! Three studs and all players who need to have their hands on the ball at least 4-5 times a game. These guys are game breakers.

I agree with you Griff and Gabe both. Griff, like you, I'm especially concerned with #2. It's this type of game where we have fallen short in the past in that department. Let's hope it doesn't happen Saturday. We can't go into a shell offensively hoping that we don't make a mistake. We need to go all out. Offensively, defensively and in the booth.

No. 3 Mustangs now face Hornets' rushing attack

I look at it this way... they were held to 14 points by Rockdale and Bellville, both good teams, but teams that give up more than 14 points per game for the season. If they can hold them to 14 I feel like our defense can at least match that. Caldwell is giving up more than 23 points per game. If we just have an average night offensively, we should still be able to put up 24 points. I could be completely wrong, but I truly feel that, if we come out and play Mustang football for 4 qtrs, we win this game. If you go back and look at Coldsprings stats, they were putting up some pretty gaudy offensive numbers as well to go along with about the same defensive numbers as Caldwell. Also, Caldwell does not have big old #9 and the overall team speed that CS has/had. -
WO-S vs. Caldwell Predictions?..GAME TIME NOW 7:30!!

The WOS football team and coaches will not overlook Caldwell, I assure you. -
The Slot t offense/CALDWELL RUNS IT WELL!

WOS87, I sure hope you are correct. Guys, you must also remember that, when we scrimmaged Vidor, we did not have Stephen Cook or Jacory Roberts (both our starting defensive tackles). We have shown repeatedly, including against CS, that we are not soft in the middle. Even without those two, we still did not give up any points to Vidor until late in the 3rd period when we started getting tired (due to missing 2 lineman in the rotation and being early in the year). I think we will be OK in this one. -

Very good point and one I had not thought of. I'll be heading 105 to Conroe. Gunho, 610 is about 15 years to old of a route. These days, if you're going to take I-10 to go anywhere North of Houston, you need to take the Beltway North (or south if heading somewhere South) in Channelview. Unless you are going somewhere actually on the Loop, it is a dead route. -
In my opinion, Navasota's schedule is no where near what Silsbee has played. They have played the teams in their district and they think they are pretty good, but no one in that district has really played anyone except for a suspect Sealy team.

Yes, you will need to take a right on I-45 from there instead of a left when going thru Conroe. -
A sure sign of a program that's still not there yet. Still talking smack about a game that happened (for you) 2 seasons ago... :
-
I predict that Silsbee will finally come out and play to their potential against someone other than WOS and win 35-34 in OT.
-
Congratulations Silsbee on a big win. It doesn't matter how you get to the next round as long as you get there. Now, play like you did against WOS against Navasota and take them down! That being said, I can't help but make a point here (I know, here we go)... Aggies, you know I have given Silsbee much props for the way they played against us. However, when any WOS fan mentions that we may not have played very well that game we quickly get a, "Why is it that you played bad? Maybe it's because we played good", by you or other Silsbee fans. Now, you are doing the same thing. You make it sound like it's because you played bad rather than Huffman playing well... can't have it both ways bro...

Good article, sounds like the boys are focused. -
Caution should not be seen as cowardice. We have a history of being ambushed in the first round by teams we're "supposed" to beat soundly. CE King, Silsbee and Huffman are teams all the experts said we should have beat. It's all about playing at the next level. If we do not come out and play better than we have all year, we could easily go home. Coldspring is capable of beating us. If we do raise our level of play, we should be OK. We will see on Saturday.

Liberty Hill vs. WO-S for State Title
Gasilla replied to Lt. Dan's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Oh... I'm sure they are very good. I'm not saying that at all. Gilmer is Gilmer. I just hope we get the chance to play them. We have a long way to go to even get that opportunity. -

Who Will Go Out First In The Playoffs Kirbyville Are WO-S
Gasilla replied to skipper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
It's funny that some of you Kville folk will refer to a game that you played against Silsbee last year, but refuse to refer to your game with WOS... : I' mean, why try to compare what you did against a team a year ago when you actually played the team your comparing against last year. LOL Maybe it's because you don't want to bring up that spanking... ;D -

Dan, this is your cuz... way to premature for this post. While I would LOVE for this to happen, we can't even think about it at this point. Cold Spring is VERY capable of providing us with an early exit. I'm telling you, they are not bad and have a great young coach. They will not go quietly.
