  1. I sure don't like how this article reads. "Brenham has gotten the best of the Bears as of late" baseball playoff meetings they won in 86 we won 96 they won 99 we won 2000 they won 2003 we won 2004 they won 2006 (this must be the "as of late"?)
  2. tuesday's come from behind win was a great one, but I don't know how this story gets written without mention of the 2000, series tied at one, game three, bottom of the thirteenth win by the bears.
  3. Dallas was game two starter and was availible to relieve in game three if needed.
  4. I hope you have lots of scouts. 7 of the 8 teams in 19-4A are still in the hunt. Just think how many we would need if we did not know if we were second or third until tonight at 10:00pm tonight or tomorrow.
  5. He said the baseball coach and the football coach talk each morning to see what each other have going on during that particular days workout period. Then they decide which direction Hunter should go. I know most days he goes with football during the PE period and then to baseball after school.
  6. Many kids that had migrated away have returned to football from basketball, baseball, and soccer. The football programs numbers have gone way up since the new year. The kids really like the atmosphere around the athletic department which attracts them to be in and around the weightroom. I think good things are ahead for Coach Crouch and his bears.
  7. Vaughns HR was a big boost for our Bears. Gonzalez' catch in centerfield was a classic and will be talked about for years to come. (by us oldtimers at least) Lamar coaches radar gun had Waddell at a consistant 88 mph. One pitch up and in was at 90!
  8. The newspaper article was lacking in many catagories. It said the Mustangs struck out the Bears eight times but failed to mention the part where five Bear pitchers struck out twelve Mustang hitters. It said the Mustangs held the bears to ten hits but failed to mention that the Bears no hit the Mustangs. Although there were some defensive miscues, the LCM pitching staff (throw out four or five walks) threw fairly well for opening day. JMO
  9. Leger probably would not be in this category. Coaches all district last year, sportswriters all state last year. He is arguably LCM's best player.
  10. I think he/she was really asking about an injury....just the wording was a little odd. Wrong. DaBears was trying say Jake did not throw well in high school. He has referred to this before in posts at the time Jake was being recruited. His throwing is much improved now. He worked hard on it in high school and has worked hard on it since. DaBears is no bear. He is should change name to DaCubs. Has been disrespectful before and will be again. He needs to get a head baseball coaching job down the road. He has all the answers.
  11. DaBears (AKA Brenham fan/employee) (AKA Duckcommander) (AKA I should put your name and embarrass you) I know from reading this post and recalling your old ones that Jake Rowell is a much better man than you. He would never post derogatory things about someone in public forum. I know you are upset that in the last two decades we have knocked the Brenham Cubs out of the playoffs four times, but don't be bitter. Hey you guys have ended our season four times as well during that same span. No hard feelings. No reason to be a horses rear. Jut a friendly rivalry. No need to make it an unfriendly one. See you in four weeks.
  12. 4800 official paid attendance! Here is the "rest of the story". The line was still so long to get in, Lamar opened the gate behind the bleachers and several hundred poured in this gate during the second and third innings and were not included in that count. It was and is still the largest high school baseball crowd in SETX Baseball history. Unofficial estimated crowd, paid and unpaid, 5700.
  13. Big Switch You were wrong when you said just two. Your are wrong when you say just 23 as of today. It was 33 at the end of last week. And you are wrong that this is more than we expected. We thought we should have about 50 and we very well may. Good luck with the big switch.
  14. The posters here (such as skip) continue to give jobs to people that are not even applying. So it is not "that easy".
  15. Coach Williams retired and then when some of his former assistants were in charge at Deweyville he volunteer coached with them. (which is legal by UIL rule)
  16. Opinion noted allstate. Mine is that I disagree with you. I hear this group has really matured as of late. I think "WE'RE IN GOOD HANDS" The Bears have finished in 4th once in last twenty years and you think this team with this many returners is the next? I don't think so. If you are correct what a great year for that to happen. Four teams go to the playoffs. Great timing Bears! Good luck
  17. Soccer games are on Tuesdays and Fridays Baseball games are on Tuesday and Fridays. I don't see why there would be a conflict.
  18. I think Rowell's last minute change of mind from McNeese State (D-1) to Angelina (JC) was what was best for him. The coaching change at McNeese left the incoming coach with some kids that he did not recruit, many of which he has now let go following a 13-42 season. On the other hand, the Angelina Roadrunners and Jake Rowell finished the season at a 32-18 mark. One more season at AC and Jake will be eligible to return to a McNeese team that has worked its way out of a hole that the previous staff left them in. Or he could have a great sophomore season and end up at a Big 12 school, who knows.
