It takes me a little while to cool down. The immovable object is alive and well and the unstoppable force was proven to be very stoppable. The Jasper offense didn’t score much but they did a great job of keeping ours off the field in the 1st half. We ran 4 plays in the 1st quarter and 19 in the 2nd. Congrats to the Bulldogs and good luck moving forward

This is why I’m excited to see this game. Rusk has scored 220 points in 5 games this year and only 10 of those points were scored in the 4th quarter. The game with Bullard is the only game we scored after the 3rd quarter. Jasper has only given up 38 points in four games. They gave up 8 points to Vidor whose offense was averaging 41 pts per game against their first three opponents. The immovable object versus the unstoppable force.

That was my point. Just like 3 of our wins being against teams from the 700 club doesn’t say much. I firmly believe this game could go either way if Jasper can get some offensive success. I’m interested to see IF we are able to move the ball on Jasper’s defense like we have up to this point. I will then know how good we actually are this year.

Every team Rusk has beaten is ranked higher than every team Jasper has beaten. Just saying

I would agree with that. I’ve seen portions of all their games and the defense will be a major upgrade to every team we have played except Palestine but I do think Jasper has a better defense than Palestine. On the other hand Jasper’s offense...I’ll say this, their offense is why they are only slightly better than the teams we have played. The reason I think we will win is our offense is good enough to score 10-14 points against anyone, we scored 21 in last years game and we are much better this year. I just don’t believe Jasper can score more than that against us. Who knows we may get shutout and lose by 30. At least I will know our schedule was the reason for my optimism.

It doesn’t hurt 😁. In your opinion is Jasper a major upgrade to our previous opponents, a slight upgrade, or just another bad team?

Yes he was, two weeks before the first game. We had some move in and a bunch come out who were not playing.

It’s a 6 team district

247 Composite Rankings lists him as the 49th best QB prospect in the country and 8th best in Texas. He was in the top group of the Elite 11 regional in Dallas this summer. One guy doesn’t win football games regardless of talent or position. The whole team has continued to improve. If we keep doing that we will be fine.

I believe you share the same skepticism as most people and I actually think it’s fair considering Rusk’s schedule. I guess we will have to see if Jasper’s defense or Rusk’s offense gets exposed on Friday. It should be fun.

Rusk The Eagles are coming off a bye week. Through 5 games the offense is averaging 44 ppg and 450 ypg led by QB Owen McCown (University of Colorado commit) 105-155, 1,462 yards, 16 TD and 1 INT. Jaspers defense can probably slow them down but not enough to get the win.

I’m not sure if Coach can repeat his coin toss streak but the majority of the contributors return. JD Thompson “Utility” is kind of funny. I didn’t see another pitcher at the tournament who could hold Sinton to 1 run for 5.1 innings. Those boys could hit and they have practically everyone coming back.

I’m afraid you’re going to be annoyed during the next two rounds.

This should be a good game. Rusk has a phenom Ace but that is not all they have. The #2 guy pitched the last 6 innings against China Spring and didn’t give up a run. He’s not overpowering but he gets ground balls and pop ups. Rusk has a good defense and a solid lineup. IF they put some runs up early they are really hard to beat. Their ace is as good as you will see in HS regardless of classification.
