Coach AL may have been a good coach back then and possibly still could be but when you haven't Coached in 9 years and refuse to go to Coaching Clinics and you dont have a spring training then as a football fan of SETX I've come to realize your behind when it comes to what has changed and your not doing all you can to get your kids ready in my eyes for the upcoming season... So true

Not the majors like they use to....for example..when Tony Brown was at Ozen until he did well at the camp and got rated Nick Saban didn't know the kid...Track Clubs did and after you hit Sabans radar then you have gotten every Coach in the Country's attention.. -
It certainly does and from what I was told by a person of knowledge there 8th grade team has the best shot combined with the Freshman class from this year to be more special than any of the other classes in BBall and Football

More playoff wins I can agree with but scholarships aren't earned on Friday nights anymore. There earned in the off season and summer months thru camps which cost money and for some they may not have or just dont know to help their child. Very rarely now does a Coach come to a school to see a team where as a standout kid whom has attended the right camp didn't draw the attention there first and he may spot another. Friday nights are for the fans and the pride of your city and your school being represented to boast and brag until next season comes back around for past and present players to harp on for years to come. -

He does but in my opinion he's not in my top 5....top 10...Handsdown...just my opinion...#6 to be exact -
They may not have over a long period of time but when Central opened in the mid to late 80s and early 90s none of the schools around beat them except for Brook in 92 or 93 I believe if my memory serves correctly....1 of the biggest problems is the educating of Football from your feeder schools. If you do a survey and look at the number of kids who didn't play youth football growing up and just started in middle school are not being taught the game from basic tackling to staying away from a punt that's not being fielded for a return....
-
Most of the talent that West Brook is getting comes from the tree...what I mean is most of there parents were graduates of Central in the opening years thru mid 90s and better paying jobs allowed those parents to move over from one side of town to the other to better themselves and there children not to include that most of the Coaches that are at United came from West Brook and West Brook received I believe 5 or so Coaches from Lamar that accepted their roles there and learned alot and brought it with them when the New Headcoach came into Lamar and Cleaned House....

I wouldn't put all the blame on the Coaches present as much as I would the Headcoach of the Varsity for allowing your youngest group to be Coached by decision makers of that group. In the end it reflects back to the leader of the program in a whole. -

Would you not to keep your job or just because you dont want the kid to be able to play elsewhere. The kid may not have a chance to play there when it's possible some sort of free education that he may aquire on the other side of town. As a coach that's the GOAL is to help your player to further his education if possible.
-
Should a coach sign off on a kid who doesn't want to be in his program? I understand a Headcoach who doesn't win is in the possibility of having to look for a job elsewhere. I understand most part is because of having to take the L to a program that has recruited that kid to be there but I also understand a kid who could possibly be a right of way contributor to another program more so then coming off the bench because the talent ahead is just better and he simply just wont play.
