  1. One team settling for 3s the other attacking the basket.
  2. A lot of 3s early on. Went man to man and bridge city really struggled to get open looks after that.
  3. Didn't Argyle make it to the state semifinals in the last few years winning games in the mid-40s? As stated multiple times in this thread neither team shot the ball well, but a lot had to do with the pace of the game where there were multiple possessions that lasted over 45 seconds without a shot taken.
  4. I assume you are taking into the account that one team went into a stall in the middle of the 3rd quarter?
  5. I just rewatched it; it looked to me that #5 was holding someone else back, but I could be wrong.
  6. Watching the youtube link. Looked like a tie-up between two players and they were fighting over the ball as the buzzer went off. The winning teams students section stormed the court then the camera turned away couldn't see anything else after that, but plenty of people were being held back so makes sense.
  7. From a playoff perspective obviously this is huge for Lumberton because they don't have to face Yates in the second round. A first round game against a completely healthy HF team should be a great game though.
  8. Houston Baptist is where he started I think he ended up transferring though.
  9. Prudhomme has an argument I would think. Saladin was a two time all state player that averaged over 20 in his junior and senior year probably not a better player overall, but still in the argument. Also, I have no interest in arguing why Parquet isn't a Hawk I assumed growing up in the district and starting for two seasons would be enough, but okay.
  10. Parquet a current starter on a Pac-12 team? That was only 5 years ago he was at HJ and he graduated in 2018. McClure is a really good player that scraps to get tons of rebounds and is an excellent free throw shooter if tonight is a consistent thing for him. With this being said you would think with McClure's clear dominance it would have led to Lumberton beating HJ one of these last two years.
  11. I will take HJ rather convincingly tomorrow, and for the district.
  12. I guess we will have to see but I think HJ will be the favorites barring injury. I find it funny that HF takes 4th place (due to a last second put back to get them into a play-in game) one time and everyone on here is ready to knight them the Kings of Southeast Texas. I mean at least their 3 wins this seasons have been soooooo impressive *insert eye roll*.
  13. Hawks play Lumberton on the 30th of December. Then play HF twice in district I got HJ going 3-0 in those games. They will figure it out; if I had to guess they are a program that will peak at the right times this year. A lot of talent in the team; they have to figure out rotations and minutes which takes time.
  14. Right; you are clearly missing the point...ask any college athlete (myself included) what they would do to have their senior year back. Lebron James still talks about how some of the best times of his life were playing with his friends his senior year. I lost in the third round my senior year I would do anything to have that game back. This kid doesn't get that, and he was punished because of trying to transfer because it is against the rules. I feel for the kid as he misses out on a full year of experiences that he can't get any other time.
  15. You can ask anyone inside that program they don't take moral victories. They will have a game plan and put the best foot forward with the expectation of moving on to lumberton or la marque. They have played toe to toe with some really good players over the summer and throughout the high school season. Only been blown out one time with a really difficult schedule and that was to Westbrook who's style matches up really well with HJ. Not saying they will win, but I believe there will be a (metaphorical) fight.
  16. Hf had the 3rd best talent in the district (maybe 4th) so at best they achieved exactly what they should have; that isn't coach of the year material to me. Don't get me wrong I think he is a great coach, but I don't feel he did anything that special because he had some really good basketball players on his team this year.
  17. Very good year from WOS; wasn't at the game but was told it was a twenty point game and the HJ coach kept it from being in the 40's out of respect.
  18. With a minute left in the first half HJ was winning; if it wasn't for a technical (that got Bush going after a slow two quarters from his standards) this is a 2-3 point ball game at half going either way. The third quarter HJ hit a few threes and didn't get killed on the glass (which has been the big advantage Silsbee has held over HJ this year). Then in the fourth quarter HJ had 5 of the worst possessions in a row I think that group of players have had all season that gave Silsbee the roadmap for getting back into the game. HJ is going to look back at few moments in this game that absolutely killed them, but the free throw line and the glass being the two biggest things. By no means did I think the refs were one-sided or even bad, but Bush shoots 20 free throws which is more than the entire HJ team that is strange to me at best. I think the experience that Bush and Martin have playing in big moments in big games was the biggest decider though because in the 4th quarter and overtime they didn't shoot themselves in the foot; quite like HJ did. Either way it was a great game, and I'm not counting this HJ team out of any game last year they had Yates on the ropes and just couldn't finish it off. Hopefully for the sake of 4a its a different outcome this time around.
  19. The biggest possession of the game in my opinion was with 40 seconds or so and martin spun on the baseline and missed a floater. Wasn't a bad shot but I am sure HJ couldn't of been happier that it wasn't Bush getting up another shot.
  20. If LCM could have shot better from the free throw line this could have been a really scary one for HJ. Student Section was really good as said earlier in the forum.
  21. This one was bound to be a difficult one for HJ. Off the back of an emotional loss to Silsbee against a well-coached team that had already seen them play numerous times in the EC tournament. Free throws seem to be an issue of late for HJ that needs to be fixed, but I think they must be happy to get their win and cruise into the off night.
