  1. I dont know anything about why the present coach is leaving, could someone please fill me in. Also, I will guarantee you that when it comes to EC athletics, the AD is thinking about football, football, and football. The 'most qualified' applicant will be the one who knows the most about football, not the one that knows the most about baseball. They should hire a baseball guy who also coaches football, not a football guy that can put on a baseball uni and make out a line up. EC would never hire a head football coach who must know more about other sports than football, that would be absurd!!!!!!! This is a truly sad situation for the baseball players in East Chambers, thats for sure.
  2. There isnt a snowballs chance in hell that lil Napoleon (AD) is going to hire a baseball guy for the baseball job. He will be sure to hire a football guy. There will be no push to make baseball competitive. This is terrible for baseball kids. It is totally unfair and should not be tolerated. If I were the parent of a boy in the EC zone that likes baseball, I would seriously consider moving.
  3. ElHector, I know you have told me this before, but tell me again about the highlights of your high school, college, and professional baseball playing career. Those stories are always so interesting. Also, did the rep from Nike tight fit find you at the game? He was looking for you to give you an endorsement deal. It will be awesome to see you on one of their ads!!!!!! A real east texas celeb!!!!!!!
  4. The stretch position is now defined by foot placement. If the non pivot foot is ENTIRELY in front of the rubber, the pitcher is in the stretch. If the pitcher is in the stretch, he must come to a complete stop before going home. For some reason, guys are beginning their wind ups with the non pivot foot in front. This is totally fine as long as there are no runners on base. If this is done with runners on base it is a balk.
  5. LCM put on a serious comeback to avoid being shut out and run ruled for the second straight day. Though it was close to 80 degrees, there was a snow ball fight when the Bears were in the field. Hope all that is behind them now. Word in the stands was that it was mostly the umpires fault again. Good thing is that when we get back to the triangle and get our homer umps, this wont be a problem. go bears
  6. Yeah, he did a tremendous job, he was able to give up enough runs to put the Bears out of their misery in 4 and 1/2. Cubs score 3 in first, 3 in second and 4 in the 4th. Cubs hit 2 homers. Someone please explain how it was the umps fault?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Bears took an old fashion whipping. They learned a lesson that there is a difference between 72 mph pitching and mid 80s pitching. The Bears swing it really well against poor pitching like they see most of the year but tonight it was ugly. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day for the green machine.
  7. The Bears had their heads handed to them on a platter tonight. Bears come in after putting up 18, 18, and 10 the first three games. Tonight they get 2 hits and no other balls reach the outfield. 9 strikeouts in 5 innings. Cubs run, steal, and bomb their way to 10 runs in just 4 at bats. Umpire switch was due to the initial plate umpire being injured by a foul ball to the arm. Bears even balk in a run in the 1st cause they dont know about the new balk rule. Cubs steal 5 or 6 bases, I lost count. Had a nearly full house at Firemans, great atmosphere, just didnt go the Bears way. Bears will play against class 5a Bryan tomorrow at 5pm. go bears
  8. What happened to Jake playing for McNeese? Big high profile signing and then goes to Angelina, whats up?
  9. As long as he stays outta trouble, he is good to go.
  10. The LaGrange team of '04 was really good, and they had more than Homer. Three other pitchers off of that team are still playing in college. (Colter Zoch, Jake Kozelsky, and Stetson Hrbacek) They had several other players that also went on to college ball. Their only loss that year was to 5A Leander in a playoff warm up game. The Jasper '04 team was awesome as well. Someone mentioned that Jasper blew away Columbus in '04 just after Columbus had taken out BC. Well, they forgot to mention that Columbus BEAT Jasper 6-4 in the first game of that series. Columbus ran out of pitching and Jasper 10 runned them the next two games. The Lorena team that went undefeated was pretty awesome also. Many of the Lorena boys are playing college ball now. A few years back, Waco LaVega went 34-1 behind Arthur Rhodes but were beaten by Jaime Sepeda and Sinton in the finals. Those were good teams as well.
  11. I need to go back and clarify a couple of things. I never meant for my reply to be aimed at LCM's players, coaches, or fans specifically. What I was trying to say is that the Golden Triangle 4A district is usually a very strong one. A district which has a very rich history and tradition of playoff success. It is very unusual for the winner of said district whoever that may be in a particular year to fail to advance deep into the playoffs. Normally, these schools can hold their own against anyone in the state. This year was an "off" year for the entire district. Better luck to the entire district NEXT YEAR. Didnt mean to get all of Orange's panties in a wad.
  12. Next year is next year, it may never come. This year is what counts right now. LCM and the whole golden triangle representation in 4A was real disappointment this year. For LCM to lose to a 3rd place team is almost a disgrace to this once proud district. Maybe NEXT year will be better. We can only hope so. Guess its up to Bridge City and Jasper, good luck to them.
  13. Rowell swings the bat pretty well although he tries to pull everything. Good offspeed stuff to the outside really hurts him. As far as throwing, his throwing has a lot to be desired. He can maybe play 1B or DH someday at mcneese.
  14. Are the Hays boys from Bridge City still playing at McNeese? Dont see their name in the stats and just was wondering what the deal was. thanks
  15. As for Da Bears, Brenham is always a great place to play. Whether is be Fireman's or Blinn, they are both nice. Also, I know this isnt in the area, but a few years ago LCM played a series in Columbus I believe. They had a real nice field with sunken dugouts I want to say.
  16. District 18 brought out the brooms on our beloved district 20 last week in 4A. I guess district 18 retains its status as toughest district in Region 3.
  17. Columbus wanted 1 game for the same reason LCM wanted 1 game last week. It is very difficult to beat the #1 team. It is almost impossible to beat the #1 team TWICE.
