  1. Vball is not popular in the golden triangle due to the fact that the golden triangle teams dont do very well in the playoffs. Im thinking the fooball games should be played at 5pm and then the volleyball game can be played at 8pm.
  2. so again, have they hired or not????
  3. So, have they still not hired? If so, who is it? Coaching school is next week, maybe they are waiting to hire someone then. Sure they can get a guy with some good football knowledge there.
  4. So....have they hired yet? If so, who?
  5. Probably just wont have a team anymore. They will probably have some of their junior high football coaches flip a coin and the odd man out has to coach it.
  6. They need to seperate this thing into two awards. One for academics/band/one act play mess and one for athletics. Brenham wins state in baseball, gets 2nd in volleyball and football, plus long playoff stints in boys hoops, softball, boys and girls soccer and doesnt win???
  7. Beware: The head Pirate is not baseball friendly. Arrrrrr
  8. The spring football game will be going on the same time as the baseball playoff???? That is crazy. Football is a fall sport.
  9. Doesnt matter who they decide on. As soon as he doesnt win state he will be persecuted.
  10. I just dont see that its Friendswood's fault that LaMarque is not good at all. LaMarque forfeited their spring break games cause no one would show up. This would never happen in football. That left 2 teams that they were supposed to play with no games. Its LaMarque that has a problem, not Fwood. If they can find 9 that will committ and work to get better, dont have baseball.
  11. Brenham is now the defending class 4a region 3 defending champ in men's soccer, baseball, and volleyball, and just won the championship in football. Not bad I would say.
  12. I was very impressed with the speed at which the Dayton fans were able to leave when Brenham took the lead. They werent as fast as PNG fans, but they were fast none the less.
  13. I have to say that Angleton has great fans. They poured in and filled the stands. They wore LOTS of purple and got loud the whole game. They even had a tepee down on the field. Angleton fans are #1.
  14. You have Waco Connally playing Orangefield in 87-88. I am really thinking the Waco schools, Connally, Robinson, and LaVega were in region 1 that year as LaVega region 1, Wylie region 2, Bellville region 3, and Sinton region 4 were the state tournament reps. In the region 3 semis, Bellville beat Kirbyville 10-4 while Sealy beat Woodville 12-11. Bellville went on to beat Sealy 5-1 to claim the region title before losing to Arthur Rhodes and the LaVega Pirates 5-4 on a walk off bloop single at the state tourney.
  15. JAKE ROWELL 5-11, 190 lbs., INF // Orange, Texas (Angelina College) As a freshman at Angelina College, Rowell hit .347 with eight home runs and 34 RBI to help lead the Roadrunners to a 34-18 record. A prep standout at Little Cypress-Mauriceville HS, Rowell batted .548 with 11 homers and 52 RBI as a senior to earn First Team All-State and Southeast Texas most valuable player honors. In addition, Rowell was named First Team All-District, All-Orange Leader and Super Gold Team for three-consecutive seasons. The 5-11 infielder chose UALR over TCU, Texas State and Sam Houston State. Angelina head coach Jeff Livin on Rowell: “Jake is one of the hardest workers I have ever had. He is a great all-around kid that is very versatile. He is a middle of a line-up guy with a great mentality and approach.†Norwood on Rowell: “Jake is a left-handed stick with some big time thump in it. He is a relentless worker and comes from a great junior college program.â€
  16. its good to hear that his arm is better now. its never good to see and injury.
  17. Can he throw now or will he have to DH? Coming out of LCM he signed with McNeese but since he couldnt get the ball to 2nd without a cut off man he chose to DH at a Juco. Hopefully his arm has had time to recover. Good luck Jake.
  18. Last year in 1a, Munday, Windthorst, and Seymour were all in the same district. Seymour won the big division while Munday won the small division. Also, Munday had to beat district rival Windthorst in the regional finals, so all three district mates went as far as possible.
  19. If this has been posted before, I appologize. I have heard that the new EC baseball coach will be former LaGrange head coach Darren Seymour. LaGrange is also the former stop of current Buc AD Tony Velastro. Seymour was the assistant at LG when LG won the whole thing in 04 with Homer Bailey and crew. If you remember, I had said that EC would not get a good hire in this position. I have to say, they did WAY better than I had thought they would. Congrats to coach Seymour and to Coach V for hiring a baseball guy. You people in EC should be pretty excited about this hire.
  20. Dont want to jinx Kirkland's Hawks, but Giddings is not very good. They play at an absolute launching pad so they are hitting based every year. Their pitching is fair at best and defense is a C-. If you go 2 out of 3 and play a couple of solid games, you advance past them. Again, I hate saying they are not good cause you could look ahead of them but, they are not good.
  21. Giddings is the Buffaloes, school colors are black and gold. They wear black sleeveless tops with black undershirts, caps are black with a gold bill. Good luck to coach Kirkland, he has worked hard, glad good things are coming to ya. Too bad the Hawks cant suit up Ben Broussard for this one.
  22. Did you think I was lying?????????? Of course they do that stuff, and it never really works.
  23. Here are some notes on Bellville so listen up. Bellville loves to try pick off moves, especially with a left hander on the mound. They will pick a hundred times. When Jasper gets runners on 1st and 2nd and its a bunting situation, Bellville will run the early break pick at 2nd off of the wheel play. Corners will charge, screaming "bunt". The pitcher will lift his leg, do an inside move and pick to 2nd. Bellville will relay signals to their hitters if they possibly can. Usually, they call out first name for fastball, and last name for offspeed. Sometimes they will change it up and go with name or number. Bellville's hitting is not very strong. They have 3 homeruns for the entire season. On top of that, all 3 came in 1 game, at Giddings, which is a launching pad. Good luck to the Dawgs, and hope Coach Mixon is listening.
