Newton beat Spearman in state championship in 74 i believe 56-20 Beat Daingerfield 21-0 In 98 State Championship Got beat by Boyd in 04 state championship 17-14 (on clock expiring) Beat Argyle in 05 state championship 28-20 Got beat by Waskom 38-8 in state champion i believe in 2014 Newton has always been a very good 2 round deep team. But in the last 5-7 years, they have been a good 3rd round to State semi team. I believe Newton will win easily agains West Rusk and should not have a real fight until State Semi or State championship. As far as teams who have had their number. For years it was Marlin, especially in the early to mid 2000's. Then they struggled with Daingerfield. And as of late, Cameron You and Yokaum i believe have knocked them out late. Yes, these days. Newton beat them 3 years ago but they've been a bit down for last couple of years and WOS continues to dominate. And Silsbee is way behind WOS.

Score?

WOS by 50 if they want. But will prob be more like 42 -14 with WOS respecting Silsbee for their homecoming. Wouldn't mind seeing a Newton vs WOS game this year. But I'm not even sure if Newton is on the same level with WOS these days .

Being a Newton fan, I have always been confused as to why Newton doesn't play a stronger pre-district schedule. There for a couple of years we played an outside team (Tatum) and that was nice to see but besides that its always seemed to be weaker big schools. I have heard that when Coach Barbay was alive, teams would turn him down when he asked about playing for fear of being beat by a small school . Anyone have any insight on this? Just wish we didn't play the same ole schools every year. Regardless , still an Eagle fan.

Man what happened? Iola been holdin out or did HD not show up? Is Evadale district champs?

If Daisetta loses tonight is it a three way tie between Evadale, Iola and HD? How does the playoffs match up in that type of scenario? Who goes 1,2 & 3? Thanks in advance. I've been intrigued by this HD team this year especially after going 2-8 last season. I see them going to the 2n may to the third rd this year.
