1. If my Dogs can put the ball in play Hudson will boot it. Jasper will win tonight and be tied on top the district.
 2. I thought I heard that they play Carthage next week in Jasper.

First off how on earth can you compare 2 legends of coaching who have given and given to a community time and again to a greenhorn fresh out of college who doesnt know squat. If stats prove correct 40% of these greenhorns will be out of coaching and into another profession within 3 years and over 50% out of the profession within 5 years.  If possibly the greatest high school coach in Texas were still alive would he to fall victim to this?  There are so many ways to save a district money. Workshops, fat central offices, federal programs, breakfast and lunch programs, educating illegals ... We should not be cutting staff. We definately should not be cutting some of our best staff based on age.
Even the great “legendary” coach had to start somewhere.  I have nothing against these coaches.  But when the state is 28 billion behind… Cuts have to be made.. and cutting teachers that have already retired is one way to do it… WT will just have to train who he gets… does not mean it will be someone right out of college….heck our school district near Houston will lose 3.5-5.2 million alone.. As for cutting breakfast and lunch for the kids…. That is crazy… some of these kids only meals are at school… and work shops are made to educate the teachers on new ways to educate students... if teachers dont trying to get better then how can they expect the students to... And educating illegals… that would mean more cuts for teachers… I agree some districts are not spending their money wisely… but they are just dealing with what they have to work with... remember we vote for school board members who then vote on personal… (Superintendants) which make spending decisions… if you don’t like what is happening in your school district, then run for office or vote on someone who will do the job the way you want it done.. If anyone is to blame… it is us..
Us giving illegal aliens a 'free' education cost the taxpayers billions each year. As for the breakfast & lunch programs thats bull, these kids would eat. We are the only nation in the world where the poorest people are the fattest people. What is also funny is that you act like these coaches are not still WORKING extremely hard for their paycheck. They are. So why not hire who is the most qualified and the best for a community? Leave the hiring to WT and see who he wants. What you  will save in money by axing these coaches will cost you far far more down the line.
 4. Why not ask WT what is best for his program, best for his athletes and best for the community?

 6. Can someone please post the jobs the guy from Dangerfield has NOT applied for???
 7.
Wow... nothing against Morgan, i am sure he is a fine coach, but i still can not believe they did not take Jack.....Again!!! second time they turned him down.... they might live to regret this again... If I was Alverez, I would run up the score as high as I could to prove a point.... Go Cats!!! put another beatdown on them just like the last 6 years under Alverez....
Those days are over my friend. Be careful what you wish for. I watched what Carthage did to to my Bulldogs for two years in 18aaa. The Kirbyville beatdowns of past years are nothing compared to what Carthage could have done to us but chose not to. The beatdown you speak about may soon be reversed.
 8. As I stated earlier we maybe didnt hire the biggest name, but we got the best coach. Let the winning begin!
 9.
Hope this is true. Carthage has had quality/championship football and baseball in the same years and decade. Someone is doing something right up there in Carthage and it shows.
If this is indeed true we may have not hired the biggest name but I would bet we just hired the best coach.
 10.   I believe that at the AAA and above level it has become next to impossible to WIN a Texas State Championship if offensively you are one dimensional. I honestly dont believe that one dimensional can WIN it anymore in Texas.   If one does it will be because of TOTALLY superior athletes or a defense that does not allow any points.

Alvarez runs the Wing-T. That is why people say Barbay would be a better fit for the job. Maybe Alvarez could hire an OC to run the spread there.
Wing T would match well with Jaspers size and athletes.  [/qu Correct, if it was still1975
Yo Jeffcoat... wake up and smell da coffee dog!  1975?  ???  Really?  You should get out more. Try 2005 and 2006... LIBERTY HILL... WING T! Read dis dog:  En route to the 3A-Division I state title last season, Liberty Hill wasn’t challenged. Not even close.  In its state championship game victory over Gilmer, Liberty Hill (14-0, 4-0, 8-3A)  took control. The Panthers rushed for 342 yards and did not even attempt a pass in the 35-13 victory, Liberty Hill’s second straight 3A state title triumph. Yo Snappa Head!  How dat coffee smell to yous now?
Diceman, I beg to differ with your statement.  The last time ANY AAA or above team ACTUALLY WON a Texas State Championship running the Wing T I could fill up my truck for under 35 dollars, I could go to a showroom and buy my daughter a new Saturn, no one had ever heard of our president, and Blockbuster and The Movie Gallery were booming businesses in our little town.
 12. The entire issue is stupid. The 'brains' of the issue is safety for the players. Compare the number of serious life threatening injuries caused by a batted ball VS that of football injuries caused by players leading with their helmet. There is no comparison. Football is a million times more dangerous. This should be a non issue, but the liberals give everyone a trophy, ribbon or badge and keep everyone trim and safe say different. So here is where we are. Rake in the dough Louisville Slugger & Easton why you can. There will be another cause of the month coming up soon.

 14.
Carthage DC  is the man for the job.
Absolutely. If Morgan wants the job, we need to hire him. 3 straight State Championships. He has followed Bickham before so he knows what he is getting into. And from everything I have heard he is a great motivator whose defenses have gotten better as the year went on. This is the guy we need to hire.
 15.
After looking at the capsule, if Carthage wins, this means that both of the Div I & Div II State Champs will be from the same district. I realize this is not the first time this has happened, however it is still uncommon. What's even more remarkable is that Henderson beat Chapel Hill to win State and Chapel Hill beat the mess out of Carthage earlier in the season. Then Carthage goes and beats Henderson to be District Champs. Just goes to show you, with the right talent and coaching any team can beat on any given day.
I heard that Henderson was the third place team out of that district. Gilmer finished second. With Carthage winning it. Carthage was undefeated in district.   I also heard that Pittsburg( 4th place team) was beating Henderson 32-14 in the 4th quarter and Henderson came back and won. Had Pittsburg won that game Henderson would not of even made the playoffs.  Carthage then would have gone big school and the entire playoff mix would have been different.
 16.
I havent seen setx blown up like this in awhile. Glad to read scooter is keeping it intresting. also glad to see some Coldspring folks getting on here. It will be a great game friday, but I still think Coldspring will win it by 12. Last time I checked 1 stud on offense and 1 stud one defense dosent win everything. Carthage will consentrate on one running back and coldspring will have the other studd running back   with the ball. They are to versital imo. Good luck to both teams. I hope it is a clean safe game
If this is the same Carthage Football team I saw back when they dismantled Jasper and the rest of 183A for two years then Coldspring is about to find out what versatile really is. I will not make a prediction but I know they have got it going on up in Carthage TX USA.
 17. Having watched Carthage play Jasper in 183A in 2008 & 2009 I can tell you that Coldspring better be ready to stop more then just Carthage's stud running back. They have athletes everywhere on the field.  As for all the points that their defense allows, I would render to guess that many of them are scored on their second and third stringers. Carthage's starters rarely ever even play in the 2ND half of  most games.  Finally Coldspring wants it more?? Get real, that sounds like something that someone would say who has never played sports in their entire life. Both teams want it and I know they have both worked their butts off to get where they are.  Congrats to both teams.
 18. If you look a few threads up or down you will find out that ColdSprings season already ended and Kirbyville is playing Wimberley this week. Since that actually is not the case I will say it end will next Friday at Jerry World in a hard faught loss to Carthage.
 19.
Who do you think is the better team? Stupid Quote and stupid topic. Kirbyville is done their season is over. This is like saying after Texas beat NY who is better the Yankees or Giants?   There are 4 teams remaining in 3A Dll ColdSpring,Wimberly, Carthage, and Brownwood. These are the four best. You are totally disrespecting Cold Spring even having this topic. Among the 4 remaining teams I will take the  2 time defending champion to make it #3. You are the champ until someone takes the crown from you. Carthage does not seem to want to give theirs up. As for Kirbyville as good as they have been they are not one of the four best. If they were they would still be playing.
20.
Will they put coach Bick. son at QB next year
I'll bet that he is playing QB at whatever school that his dad lands at for next year.
 21.

Carthage is the 2 time defending 3A DI State Champs correct? I'll take Carthage until prooven otherwise. No knock on KVille, but Champ is Champ until prooven otherwise. Besides, these two will not be in the same division if memory serves me correct. Won't find out on the field.
Unless they let all the players from those 2 teams come out and suit up again old trophies wont do anyone much good.
Insane comment everyday those kids step on the field they know they are the 2 time defending state champion. They know what it takes to win it and it gives them an edge. If you have ever won it all you would know what I mean. Old trophies equal points at practice and in games.
 22.   We better win tonight. Been following Bulldog football for over 30 years and this is by far the worse its been. There is help close by. Local help. I hope that the admistration is smart nuff to be looking. It should never be this way.
