If the BH kids have some smarts and athleticism, Surratt of Carthage W some of the coaches he would bring with him would have BH to the playoffs in year 1. By year 3 they are playing for a State Championship. By year 5 there will be talk of a second stadium being named after him.

Ive seen Carthage play for years. Every offensive snap they go to the line with 4 plays. One run to either side and 1 pass to either side. The kids are taught to read, make protection calls and make the call with whatever the defense gives you. Its all about teaching the kids If youve got smart coachable kids you will win and win big

Their #1 pitched 1 inning against Bridge City and then came back and threw a complete game Vs Jasper. I saw their game Friday against Jasper and was told the starter vs Bridge City had not pitched in over a month and looked real good. [/quote] OK, I am sorry I was mistaken... Then it was their #2 that threw first then their #1 closed right? [/quote] Their #2 had thrown the previous Friday in a 2-1 win and never saw the mound against Bridge City. The guy who started had not pitched in a month according to the fans at the Jasper game. Their #1 threw 1 inning and they closed with their QB who pitches once in a while. He too had not pitched in a long time but has pitched well when called upon. All of this was told to me at the Jasper game last Friday.

Carthage has a defensive lineman Isah Golden that has signed with A&M. They are good. Saw em play Jasper this year. Jasper took a brief lead in quarter 3 and then Carthage changed gears and the game was over. Silsbee will have to play their best to stay on the field. Carthage offense is explosive and their defense is good. Ill pick Carthage by alot.

Carthage will take this one 38- 22. Looking forward to seeing their video scoreboard.

I would hope that the administration, the coaches, the Board; and everybody in Jasper will take this as a wake up call to figure out what the problem is and work to get on the same page.  And that page should be doing what is overall best for the students at Jasper High School. If the coach has violated UIL rules, or reasonable Jasper ISD rules, then perhaps it indeed is time for him to go.  But if this resignation was prompted by unreasonable administration attempts to micro manage his program then there should be some deep soul searching done in Jasper, Texas. Successfully running any organization is quite simple.  Figure out what the winners are doing, and then shamelessly copy.  I thought that was what Jasper was doing when they hired Coach Morgan.  As I said, I have not a clue what has been going on behind the scenes.  All I know is what I have read on this board.  But I do know this.  You cannot have a successful program in any field if management micro manages.  If anyone in the administration or the Board has been unreasonably attempting to micro manage and interfere in the athletic program this would be a good time to put a stop to it.  If the Board has to get involved then I would applaud them for stepping forward. It appears that Coach Morgan may have made some mistakes.  If he has, I would hope he would work to rectify those mistakes.  Everybody makes mistakes if they are trying to actually accomplish something big.  Did he come in with a swagger?  Well, I would hope so.  That is not a crime.  He has a tough job and he must believe in himself.  No question about it.  Perhaps he has not totally sold his program to the community.    Perhaps he needs to do some more selling.  That is what a leader does; sell the program.  In a positive manner.  No need to even mention what someone did in the past.  We are in the now. What I hope to see come out of this is a unified approach from the Board, the administration, and the athletic department.  I hope to see all the parties start selling the program.  United, Jasper can have one of the best academic and athletic programs in Texas.  And I do believe that a good athletic program supports and enhances the academic program.  Divided, we will all be losers.  What is it going to be Jasper? [/quote] Very good anaology j dog and from everything I have heard today that is exactly what is happening here again only this time it is being done by some of 'our own' up in administration.  Our board needs to act and get rid of what the real problem is. Coach Morgan and his fine staff have us heading in the right direction on the field and in the classroom. What I heard today made me sick. The worst part being it was being done by 'people' that have been here forever and are suppose to have our kids best intrest in mind. Our school board needs to act now before too many of these fine men head out of Jasper.

Saw this game last week and it was a good one. We did hit the ball far better last night. I am sure that has something to do with pitching quality.   I also just read where Carthage is now #1 in AAA. Same district next two years ought to make for some great showdowns vs the other Dogs. Anyone know what Carthage will have back?

That should be our goal here.   Now we have great coaches in both sports. Lets keep em both and watch baseball continue to win big and bring football back to our glory days and beyond.   It doesnt have to be one or the other. It needs to be, can be, and will be success in both.

  Our dogs will be just fine. Give this staff time to establish a winning attitude again. The x's & o's are now solid. The schemes are solid. The kids just have to learn them where they can react without having to think. That is what takes time.   This staff works their tails off and they are going about it correctly. Just give it time.   Jasper will get well once 183A starts, then look for a few playoff wins.
