1. Major $$$$$$ which I hear Barbers Hill has. I bet $200,000 to $225,000 could land him.
 2. If the BH kids have some smarts and athleticism, Surratt of Carthage W some of the coaches he would bring with him would have BH to the playoffs in year 1. By year 3 they are playing for a State Championship. By year 5 there will be talk of a second stadium being named after him.
 3. Ive seen Carthage play for years. Every offensive snap they go to the line with 4 plays. One run to either side and 1 pass to either side. The kids are taught to read, make protection calls and make the call with whatever the defense gives you. Its all about teaching the kids If youve got smart coachable kids you will win and win big
 4.
There should be a limit on how many pitches a high school kid can pitch. My son was offered a scholarship last year from a large D-1 school. Several games last year he pitched 135,140,147 pitches in games. Summer ball started his mph dropped 8 mph. Head college coach was at game and asked if he was hurt. All our high school coach was worried about was the win. Guess what his scholarship offer was dropped and now after 8 weeks of rehab due to a slight tear in his labrum he is now going to a Jr. College this fall to play. How many college or pro players do you see with this high of a pitch count. There needs to be a pitch count rule in place to help protect these kids arms so they can make it to college without any injuries. Not a huge believer in pitch counts but there may be some validity to them if mechanics change after X number of pitches. If you were concerned why didnt you schedule a meeting with your sons coach. Not using 20/20 here but that seems like the logical thing to do.
Rather than a game to try and win. I would also think that LH could possibly be doing the same. I wouldnt look to much in who comes out the winner in this game. Rather look at what Silsbee gains from this game
I thought the same about the Carthage vs. BC game but Carthage started their #1 pitcher and he went like 5 innings and then brought in their #2 for the rest..... I think it all depends on who LH has up next.  Good luck to Silsbee!!!!!!! I say Silsbee wins 4-2  ;D
Carthage did not start their #1 pitcher. Their #1 pitched 1 inning against Bridge City and then came back and threw a complete game Vs Jasper. I saw their game Friday against Jasper and was told the starter vs Bridge City had not pitched in over a month and looked real good.
OK, I am sorry I was mistaken... Then it was their #2 that threw first then their #1 closed right?
Their #2 had thrown the previous Friday in a 2-1 win and never saw the mound against Bridge City. The guy who started had not pitched in a month according to the fans at the Jasper game. Their #1 threw 1 inning and they closed with their QB who pitches once in a while. He too had not pitched in a long time but has pitched well when called upon. All of this was told to me at the Jasper game last Friday.

 8.
to set the record straight Silsbee did beat LCM in their own tournament earlier this year and only lost to Barbers Hill by 1 point.
Yes stanley is correct they only lost by 1 POINT when the Barbers Hill shortstop hit a free throw in the bottom of the 14TH to win it. Silsbee got into foul trouble early.
 9.
Very well could have been a win for BC without the bad breaks...I guess?.
What happened? errors, poor calls, etc.. , It sounded like a really good game.
 10. Does Bridge City play Carthage next Tuesday? If so where?
 11. Most parents want the best 8 on the field plus their son
 12.
I'm taking El Campo in this game
I'm about to leave and do some Xmas shopping in Beaumont before heading Cardinal way. My region 4 inlaws( wifes side- I dont claim em) are all gonna be wrong because Carthage will win this one. This will be Cathages biggest challenge as well it should be. Still Carthage is far too balanced, well coached, and skilled for the 1 dimensional Ricebirds. Carthage and Region 3 BABY wins a hard faught one 41-27. Safe travels to everyone,

 15. Carthage has a defensive lineman Isah Golden that has signed with A&M. They are good. Saw em play Jasper this year. Jasper took a brief lead in quarter 3 and then Carthage changed gears and the game was over. Silsbee will have to play their best to stay on the field. Carthage offense is explosive and their defense is good. Ill pick Carthage by alot.
 16. Carthage will take this one 38- 22. Looking forward to seeing their video scoreboard.
 17.
Open letter to Jasper administration and coaches: Of course we would not want to keep someone that does not want to be there.  At the same time, if there is a "fixable problem" that has a solution that would make everyone reasonably happy again, I would hope that that option would be sincerely and extensively explored by all persons in positions of authority. Example.  Back in the late seventies, a very similar situation evolved at Jasper.  The principal evidently was trying to micro manage the football program.  Coach resigned much like this time.  Board listened, over-ruled the principal.  Principal elected to find a job elsewhere.  Coach stayed another 17 or 18 years or so.  Very successful.  I think the Board made the appropriate decision that time.  There is precedent for the Board to step in if needed. What is right now?  I do not know.  Now, it is less clear to me what is going on since I no longer live in Jasper.  But something is clearly not quite hitting on all the cylinders.  It appears that something has been going on for years that has caused Jasper to become a revolving door for football coaches.  I do not have a clue why that has happened; or what all the dynamics are.  Perhaps it was all coincidences.  Perhaps there were just several bad hires.  Perhaps the community cares too much and butts in trying "to help".  But everybody loses from the turnover regardless of the reason.  The coaches lose.  The school loses.  The players lose.  The fans lose.  The administration loses.  Everybody. I would hope that the administration, the coaches, the Board; and everybody in Jasper will take this as a wake up call to figure out what the problem is and work to get on the same page.  And that page should be doing what is overall best for the students at Jasper High School. If the coach has violated UIL rules, or reasonable Jasper ISD rules, then perhaps it indeed is time for him to go.  But if this resignation was prompted by unreasonable administration attempts to micro manage his program then there should be some deep soul searching done in Jasper, Texas. Successfully running any organization is quite simple.  Figure out what the winners are doing, and then shamelessly copy.  I thought that was what Jasper was doing when they hired Coach Morgan.  As I said, I have not a clue what has been going on behind the scenes.  All I know is what I have read on this board.  But I do know this.  You cannot have a successful program in any field if management micro manages.  If anyone in the administration or the Board has been unreasonably attempting to micro manage and interfere in the athletic program this would be a good time to put a stop to it.  If the Board has to get involved then I would applaud them for stepping forward. It appears that Coach Morgan may have made some mistakes.  If he has, I would hope he would work to rectify those mistakes.  Everybody makes mistakes if they are trying to actually accomplish something big.  Did he come in with a swagger?  Well, I would hope so.  That is not a crime.  He has a tough job and he must believe in himself.  No question about it.  Perhaps he has not totally sold his program to the community.    Perhaps he needs to do some more selling.  That is what a leader does; sell the program.  In a positive manner.  No need to even mention what someone did in the past.  We are in the now. What I hope to see come out of this is a unified approach from the Board, the administration, and the athletic department.  I hope to see all the parties start selling the program.  United, Jasper can have one of the best academic and athletic programs in Texas.  And I do believe that a good athletic program supports and enhances the academic program.  Divided, we will all be losers.  What is it going to be Jasper?
Very good anaology j dog and from everything I have heard today that is exactly what is happening here again only this time it is being done by some of 'our own' up in administration.  Our board needs to act and get rid of what the real problem is. Coach Morgan and his fine staff have us heading in the right direction on the field and in the classroom. What I heard today made me sick. The worst part being it was being done by 'people' that have been here forever and are suppose to have our kids best intrest in mind. Our school board needs to act now before too many of these fine men head out of Jasper.
 18. Saw this game last week and it was a good one. We did hit the ball far better last night. I am sure that has something to do with pitching quality.   I also just read where Carthage is now #1 in AAA. Same district next two years ought to make for some great showdowns vs the other Dogs. Anyone know what Carthage will have back?
 19. less then 5 minutes to kickoff- perfect night for a major upset.
 20. I am about to witness one of the biggest first round upsets in years. Lets go Dogs!
 21.
Hopefully the kids will follow him and he won't loose half the athletes to baseball.  This is the key to jasper's future football success
He came from Carthage where a few years back they won State Championships in both football & baseball. That should be our goal here.   Now we have great coaches in both sports. Lets keep em both and watch baseball continue to win big and bring football back to our glory days and beyond.   It doesnt have to be one or the other. It needs to be, can be, and will be success in both.
 22. Take this down.... From tonight on Jasper will roll through 183A.
 23.   Our dogs will be just fine. Give this staff time to establish a winning attitude again. The x's & o's are now solid. The schemes are solid. The kids just have to learn them where they can react without having to think. That is what takes time.   This staff works their tails off and they are going about it correctly. Just give it time.   Jasper will get well once 183A starts, then look for a few playoff wins.
