  1. I still haven't mastered the art of blowing the whistle and talking at the same time.....That guy does it better than anybody.....he is a heck of a coach....a lot of the things I use I learned from him back in the Lumberton days.....
  2. good grief....nobody said it equates....I gave reasons why to participate....IT MAKES YOU BETTER....PERIOD....so what we need to do is just sit at home during the summer and show up in the fall and underachieve....BmtSolja...arent you an Ozen fan?
  3. I don't mind the differing opinion, each to their own....It is the "sissy ball" and "It does nothing" and "wait until we put n the pads" comments that are rediculous....you know that....If you have a differnce in opinion, fine....I was just showing reasons why 7 on 7 is important.... And unless you have been on the field with the Dragon Nation, watch what you say.....when was the last time a team down there was a state champ....
  4. It is amazing to read some of these post about 7 on 7.  Every team in the state should participate in some type of  7 on 7 during the summer for numerous reasons.  1.  Your kids are out there running around developing athletic skill. 2.  Having fun while conditioning. 3.  No matter what offense you run, eventually you will have to throw the football. 4.  and maybe the most important reason, your kids lean to compete. 5.  Kids you are counting on that have never played a varsity snap are out there getting used to the speed of the game. 6.  At some point in the season, you will play a spread team and now you have experience defending it. there are many more but these are the biggest.  Chime in if you have others. As far as LC-M and their showing at state....what a way to go into the year now....lots of momentum...lose to LT by 1 in OT....beat SLC...are you kidding me...I have coached against SLC and I can assure you, there is not a team in that area that can play with them....even in their down years.....and yes, even though 7 on 7 doesn't translate directly to fall success, check out all the teams class A to 5A that play in the semis and I would bet 95% of them have 7 on 7 experiece....so give LC-M their due....and have a clue about football before you start making some of those statements....
  5. pngfan- Tell Cheri I am praying for her and her daughters. She and I graduated from LC-M together and I was friends with Robert. I am so sorry for the loss and was shocked when dad called me last night with the news.
  6. That is not how Robinhood works my friend. That has always been the argument by schools that are short on facailities. All those schools have new and improved stadiums because they passed bonds to build them. The community supported the bond and voted for it. Tax money that is tied up in facilities does not count in the Robinhood formula. If a school wants to build a new facility, float a bond and get after it......By the way, Robinhood money cannot be spent on I&S accounts. It is for M&O.
  7. Oh yeah....I forgot that SETexas is short on industry....lol.....There is plenty of money down there to do whatever is important.....Arp (I know not a metro plex school) has ZERO industry....great stadium and facilities.....hmmmm....Alvarado, Forney, Ferris, Ennis, Cisco, Celina, Gilmer, Gladewater, and the list goes on......
  8. Hey WOSgrad.....I was one of those guys as well.....Not many know that Stew was a hoss pitcher.....I did finally get A hit the last time I faced him....lol
  9. You guys need to get out of Southeast Texas more....It is nice and definitely the nicest in the Triangle......Just drive down the road a little and check out the Berry Center in the Cy-Fair district.....or drive up to the Metroplex and check out some of those stadiums......I am glad to see at least one school trying to keep up.....sorry, two schools, forgot about Hardin......
  10. What's up LB? Things are great here.....recruiting is almost done.....we have some really good ones coming in.....I guess you have been traveling all around watching the Bear Baseballers...
  11. Hey Coop, I don't know what all you put on here with the mucsic and stuff but it does not run through our filters here very well.....takes forever to get from page to page and have to hit back several times to get to the menu page.....hahahahhaahaha
  12. Congrats Stew.....I cannot believe Coop big faced you on here with that pic.....good grief your ugly.....hahahahahahaha....Not sure if you read this much but holler at me if you get a chance......My number is on our web-site....
  13. I sure hope this isn't true. Coach Morrison truly cares about the kids and the programs at OFISD. I have known Blake for a long time and have always had a lot of respect for him. I have been through there recruiting and I have heard him talk about the kids there. He does a great job of selling his guys. Good luck Blake if this is true. OFISD is losing a good one.
  14. If you have such a concern about the health of your student athlete, test them yourself......It amazes me how all this concern and outcry for testing tends to quieten when the ball is in the parent's court.....At the college level, I can see the need for the governing body to be responsible for it because they are adults and out of the house.....High school students are still in the house....CHECK THEM YOURSELF IF YOU ARE SO CONCERNED
  15. You should do both.....If you are allowed Spring training, that is 18 practices as opposed to 5 in the Fall.....plus it puts your guys' minds on football....and I don't care if you are a wish bone team, 7 v 7 teaches your defense how to cover and your team how to compete.....you have to learn how to win before you can become a winner.
  16. I can tell you we are excited to have your young one with us as well. We have put together a really good class of recruits to give us some depth next year. Thanks for all the posts supporting us. We play some good football up here and folks need to get a realistic view of what really goes on in the recruiting process and what colleges are looking for.
  17. Thank you #1pirate.....We are very excited to have Dalton.....I tried to remain very positive with my response to the post by oldskool......It is a growing problem in our society as a whole....the basic rule of thumb is, "If you are a D-1 talent, the D-1's know about you." The recruiting process is difficult to navigate. Check out the rosters of the 1-AA AND II guys and see how many are transfers....another thing you can look at is how many true freshmen are on significant scholarship money.....Many times a D-II comes in and offers a kid $500 in school money and they call it a football scholarship and the kid jumps on it because he can tell people "hey, I got a football scholarship." They end up paying more money than they would at a D-III school and hold a dummy for 2 years than maybe get to play on the kickoff team their Jr and Sr. year......I didn't take offense to oldskool's comment at all but it did reflect a general attitude of uninformed society.....Just because you think a kid is worthy of a scholarship does not mean the people that are passing out the money do.....
  18. Hey Oldskool97. Not sure what you have against ETBU. I am a coach here at ETBU and you apparently do not understand D-III football. We do not give athletic scholarships, but there are other measures our students qualify for that help them pay for school. If you think getting a scholarship is what justifies you as a good ball player, than you are sadly mistaken. We look for kids like Burrell that are not only good athletes but also quality students and quality character kids. I have seen Burrell on tape and we want him here and feel he would be a great addition to not only our football program but also to our campus as a whole. We are offering Burrell an opportunity to get a quality education and do something he enjoys doing. What is so sad these days is that so many people think an athletic scholarship is a badge of honor when the true honor is going to school, getting an education and being a part of something special where you have to make a commitment to something bigger than yourself, whether that is a football team, a basketball team, or the debate team. And just so you know, we have some very good players here that are D-II to DI-AA caliber that developed after high school. It also looks like two of our guys will be playing on Sundays next year. Please do not talk down about any D-III program.
  19. Please do not take this an any way as an assault on Coach Bolton. I am speaking in generalities. Why would a hiring committee hire someone that was part of a program that was unsuccessful? It also is a negative perception that the person had the previous leader fired so he could get the job. Not saying that is what happened but no matter how good of a coach the person was, he was still part of a program that did not meet expectations. That would be like hiring an assistant from another program that was 0-10. I am not sure the community would go for that at all. That is how most processes play out. I am sure LC-M will hire the person best suited for the job.
  20. Now that was funny. I guess it was done to say they had community involvement in the hiring process. I would have loved to seen the comments but I guess it is good I didn't and they were removed. Just like in an intereview setting you can tell what problems existed in the previous regime by the questions asked, you can tell what the perceived problems were in Moody's tenure. I cannot imagine anyone not answering very important to everyone of those questions.
  21. PN-G is not tryin to hide anything. Look what happened to the guy at Boston College when he interviewed. FIRED!!!!! It is not so much applicants are worried about being fired though, it has to do with the program they are at. If the kids, community, school, fellow coaches see them looking for another job, it makes his job more difficult if he does not get the PN-G position. It has to do with privacy. I do not agree with media sources pushing the FOI. I know it is the law. PN-G should have hired a firm to accept applications and sift through them. Then FOI does not apply. I know if my name was made public, I would be very unhappy.
  22. WOS and PNG can what? I am sure the uppities in the networks have been informed about the rivalry and they are not beating down the door.....I never said I knew anyone but I do know football across the state......If the Triangle would ever catch up(facilities, schemes) with the top programs across the state, they would get some national pub. Glad PNG has taken the step to upgrade it's field, now who is next.......Look at the state champions from this year....1 from Southeast Texas- Katy......3 from East Texas SS, D'field, Carthage.....2 from Metroplex Allen, Prosper.....1 from Centex Lake Travis.....3 from West Texas- Muleshoe, Canadian, Stratford......
  23. LOL.....I am sure ESPN will jump right on that one.....Might be too high profile though for FSN and Ric Renner
  24. You bet.....I will be sure to do that.....You still haven't answered my question.....
  25. Those are TV teams. I am just asking who you are talking about. If you say you have some of the best around (football? talent? facilities?) then those are the teams you are going to have to top to get on TV. So pony up my man. Who down there can compete with those teams (football? talent? facilities?). and I ain't your friend. I don't even know who you are. ...lol
