  1. I don't look for Scott to be going anywhere.......Great facilities and great athletes.....great support from administration and community.....You want to win, blue print Carthage.....I would be shocked if Jeff left Gilmer for PN-G.....he has had plenty of opportunity to go to other places that are much better than the reservation.
  2. should be a s s ' t short for assistant. but the filter for profanity must have read it and changed it.....only thing I can figure.
  3. Guys, Carthage is a very good football team. So is Gilmer. I know it is hard to believe but both teams are better than WO-S. Not because of better athletes as a whole but you need to see the facilities of these schools. The entire community and school understand that football is very important and there is an emphasis there. The kids take pride in what they were given and play and work like it is improtant. Not saying the kids at WO-S don't or that facilities make all the difference, but look where those programs are compared to where they were before they got them. Makes you wonder. And Scott Surratt was an LC-M coach at one time.
  4. I hope Josh applies. He would be great for the community. I talked to him the other day and we discussed LC-M but I am not sure if he is going to apply or not. He is probably making more money as an ass't where he is than LC-M pays their AD. That is not a joke either.
  5. Everybody that has been mentioned that I know would be great in that position. However, it is time to get realistic in your expectations. What would bring these guys to LC-M? What does LC-M offer that would make them leave the job they are in? Until LC-M ponies up so to say, whether it is money or facilities or class schedule, increase in the number of coaches, whatever, you are not going to get a Jeff Harrell or a Randy Crouch, in my opinion. I cannot speak for them but I can tell you they are in great situations and it will take a great situation to get them to leave. Just be prepared to open the purse stings.
  6. YES....EVERMAN IS THAT GOOD!!!!!! Those guys have more speed than you can imagine. I recruit that school and I am here to tell you their front 4 are almost unblockable. They have 4 or 5 TB's that can go. They are not overly big but they do what they do and they do it well. Coach Keeling is a fantastic coach and motivator. They are my pick to win it all. Sorry to not back the SE Texas bunch but I have watched these guys on film and you will be impressed I promise you.
  7. Not so much smart as been around for a while. I guess you kinda learn these things as you go. Still learning though. I really would love to see someone come in there and get it back to where David had it in the mid 90's. Been away for a while but still keep up and want to see them succeed. Shoot me a message to tell me who you are. I have gotten a lot of messages saying hello from a lot of friends.
  8. There will be a committee I am sure. That is the way it is these days and that is a good thing. I am sure the JH principal, HS principal, a couple of teachers, maybe a coach from another sport, personnel dir., and then maybe a community member. They will go through the resumes and discard all the ones that do not meet the minimum requirements. Then go through them again and pick out the best ones. Then set up interviews. Then pick 3-5 for the Supt. to look at then all sit down and decide who they want to hire. That is the way it is and the way it should be. One person does not make the hire and a group of people who have no business in the school will not make the decision. The AD is an important administrative position in the school and that hire affects a lot of people in the school from counselors who are trying to schedule athletic periods to principals trying to get coaches in the athletic period. There will be new people coming in for sure. If you want a good head coach / AD, be prepared to meet demands like all coaches in the athletic periods and the coordinators in both athletic periods. 2 conference periods for the coordinators and no second sports for the coordinators. That is the way it is in your bigger schools. That way, you can bring in good, solid, wxperienced guys and maybe bring in people from more successful programs. You have to sweeten the deal so to say.
  9. I will try again.... LC-M folks need a dose of reality. I have been gone for a long time and not real sure of the situation but I do know the people. Coach Moody is a good man and definitely comes from a great football background. I am sure he ran the program like his mentor's did and it just didn't sit well with the LC-M parents/community I suppose. I hope someone can get in there and get it going though because I hate to see all this turmoil there. As far as Griff goes, he is a great coach. Not just in baseball but in football as well. The guy motivates kids and they play for him. He loves LC-M and only wants the best so keep him out of the discussion. He will be there and will do a great job for whoever comes in. Pauline is a great Supt. Her success should be measured by the districts success all around. I would say LC-M has a good rep in that area. LC-M should be able to compete with the teams in SE Texas but that does not mean they have D-1 talent. Someone name me the last player to sign with a D-1 school. Not walk-on, actually sign. Take out BISD, Dayton, and PA Memorial and you can name the D-1 signees on one hand just about. I recruited that area last year and all the coaches in SE Texas are good coaches and good men that cae about their kids. Parents need to worry about setting an example for their kids by not bad mouthing coaches and teaching them big TEAM little me. Work with the coaches instead of worrying about babies' athletic scholarship opportunities (limited at best). Also said something about the kids that cheered when they heard the news.....I am sure there were a few of the kids that cheered.....but it has been my experiece when a coach steps down or is fired, the ones cheering were the biggest problems and so were there parents. I use my real name on here so no one can say I hide behind a screen name. Coop can attest to what I know and don't know and my football background....as well as other sports.....lol.....and so can others in the comunity when they see the name.
  10. My LC-M post got destroyed.....I was getting such great feedback......
