  1. Best wishes to Coach Mahaffey. My son played for Coach for three seasons at HF and he always treated my son fairly and helped him to prepare to play baseball at the next level. It's always easier to coach from the stands and I am guilty of that but I never questioned the integrity or character of Coach Mahaffey. Enjoy your retirement Coach.
  2. Good way to get the stampede started Horns. Play hard and keep it rolling.
  3. Congrats to Bubba and Hunter. Like to hear when great things happen for our local kids. Keep working hard guys. Please keep us posted.
  4. Good luck to Bubba, Stevo and Trev. Panola not only got three great ball players, they also got three great young men. Work hard guys!
  5. The voting is based on District play. In the past, the list has not been released until all of the teams have finished their play-off run.
  6. Congrats to all the players that were named. Great job!
  7. Congrats Jeremy. Enjoyed watching Jeremy play at WCJC this year. He had a solid season at the plate and in the field. He showed that he still has the speed that us old HF fans remember. Good luck and keep playing hard.
  8. I'm from HF and over the years I have watched Buna and HF play some really good ball games. HF found away to win last night and that's what you are supposed to do if you want to be considered a contender. Buna has a quallity program and they will be just fine come district time. Great to hear that Hicks is pounding the ball and that the pitching staff is doing their job of keeping their team in the game. Congrats to HF for getting things off to a fast start but don't lose focus because distict is just around the corner. 21AAA has been a quallity baseball district for some time now and adding Buna to the mix will only make the district stronger. Good luck to both teams. GO Horns!
  9. WCJC took 3 games from Laredo in Wharton this last weekend. The Pioneers outscored Laredo by a combined 31-7. WB's Aaron Morgan got 2 RBI's and scored in game 3. HF's Jeremy Pender played all 3 games and between scoring and RBI's accounted for 6 runs. HF's Kyle Markum pushed in 7 runs and he scored once in game 1. He also scored a run in Game 2. Morgan and Markum were solid behind the plate as well. Pender has been playing CF and is showing that he still has the wheels. Scott Vaughn came in late in Game 3 to play 2nd. and showed his defensive skills in a 4-6-3 double play. The 3 game sweep puts WCJC at 5-4 for conference play.
  10. Wharton took Friday's game 4-2. Markum started behind the plate and Pender in Right. Markum went 1-3 with his timely single to push a runner into scoring position during the 7th. He was lifted for pinch runner Aaron Morgan who scored when Pender beat out a bunt. WCJC scored all 4 runs in the 7th with former HF duo playing a major part. WB's Reggie Wilson went 1-3 with a walk. Both teams showed strong pitching and the start their double header today at 2. Great opening day for WCJC.
  11. Openning day for the WCJC Pioneers is this Friday 1/27/12 in Wharton against San Jac at 6:00. Saturday's double-header will be at San Jac starting at 2:00. The SETX connection has been joined by HF's Jeremy Pender. Pender will add a lot of speed the WCJC's lineup. Should be a good series.
  12. WCJC dropped a hard fought double header to LSUE this past weekend. The SE Texas connection all had solid games despite the outcome of the games. Morgan had a great day throwing out 4 and hitting a solo shot. Vaughn showed off his skills at 2nd playing some of his best defense of the season. Gonzales covered everything hit to right field and held runners to one base. Markum was again solid behind the plate and had 1 RBI. WCJC should be in good shape for the Spring. They are working hard and learning a lot about their team this Fall by playing tough opponents.
