1.
The coach did not watch the same game I did.  Dawson played more back yard football and clearly Nederland was a better team.  Dawson had alot of talant and speed but did not have the coaching that Nederland has. Im not from Nederland but myself and family cheered for yall to win and i hope i can make the next game.
+1    ;D
 2.
But he also said this.. Just sayin "We made too many mistakes," Dawson coach Eric Wells said. "Nederland's a dang good team. They outplayed us today. The ball bounced their way. It just wasn't our day."
Don't know which of his 2 comments were made first, but I'll bet this one was made after his meds took effect... and the hysteria calmed down...

You're an idiot. Dawson was shutout for 3 qtrs... That's not luck you bonehead.
It was LUCK!
I guess Dawson was lucky in the previous 12 games then. How else do you explain their record?
Dawson has TALENT! Nederland had LUCK last night
Well then it looks as if NED has more luck than PD has talent....NED surely has more heart and class...you'll never see the Black and Gold falling all over the the place like a bunch of drama queens after losing a game... they pull themselves up, shake thei opponents hands at midfield and go on about their business, without the whining and hysterics.  That was PA-THE-TIC !!!
 4. Looked like a bunch of drama queens fallin all over the place...kinda like when Geraldo Rivera reported on Hurricane Ike on the Galveston seawall... :o
 5. For those who haven't seen/read it, here's the Chronicle's page on how the "better team" lost last night..  CHeck out the readers' comments at the end of it..  I see PD has a rep for being classless ----wads!! [Hidden Content]
 6.
Never seen the resilience in a high school team as what was displayed last night...when everthing was going wrong, Nederland stepped up and made the plays to gain back the momentum and win the game...anyone know what happened to Hopkins when he went down?...he came back for a few plays so it couldn't be too serious but he didn't play very much after he went out...he is one tough kid so I'd assume you would have to leave him tied him to the goal post in Nederland for him to not play next week
not sure of what happened or to what extentent Kendrick was injured, but I'm sure it was the result of another of PD's "clean, sportsman-like" hits...I understand that the PD player who was involved was ejected and PD was assessed a 15 yd PF.
 7. I'm too tired to fully understand this...maybe one of ya'll can shed some light... Can you make the call?: Live-ball fouls or dead-ball fouls? By Lee Grace Thursday, September 1, 2011 When do you throw the flag and blow your whistle to stop the play or throw the flag and let the play continue? When is a foul a "live-ball" foul or a "dead-ball" foul? Normally, a "live-ball" foul is one that occurs after the football is snapped and while the play is happening. A "dead-ball" foul normally is a foul that occurs before the snap. However, there are exceptions to complicate the issue. Here are some play situations to test your knowledge. Play One: From its own 30-yard line, the offense lines up in a spread formation. The split end never gets set or stops for one second before the snap. The quarterback runs around right end for a 7-yard gain. What is the result of this play? Answer — Since all 11 offensive players did not come to a complete stop for one second before the snap, the play should be whistled dead at the snap. This is a 5-yard dead-ball foul. Play Two: From the opponent's 15-yard line on first and 10, the offense lines up with two backs outside the right tight end. Both backs start in motion before the snap. The quarterback hands the football to the fullback who runs up the middle for a 3-yard gain. What is the result of this play? Answer — This is an illegal shift. It is a live-ball foul. The defense can accept the result of the play or penalize the offense 5 yards from the 15-yard line. Play Three: On fourth and 15 from the opponent's 40-yard line, the punter takes the snap and runs to his right. At the 38-yard line he kicks the football downfield. It rolls out of bounds at the opponent's 12-yard line. What is the result of this play? Answer —An illegal kick from beyond the line of scrimmage should be whistled dead when the football is kicked. The penalty for an illegal scrimmage kick is 5 yards from the previous spot and loss of down. It will be first and 10 for the opponent at the 45-yard line. Play Four: On a pass from midfield, the defensive back intercepts the football at the 40-yard line. As he returns it for a touchdown he points the football at his opponent as he crosses the 10-yard line. What is the result of this play? Answer — In previous seasons, this would be a live-ball foul treated as a dead-ball foul. Now, when the foul occurs during a play, this unsportsmanlike conduct foul is a live-ball foul. There is no touchdown. The 15-yard penalty is walked off from the spot of the foul. It is first and 10 for the intercepting team at the 25-yard line. 8.
The pearland team has to be the dirtiest and most undisciplined team i have ever seen. From start of the game from flipping off the nederland fans, late hits, punches being thrown, helmets throwing around, a player thrown out of the game, #1 and other players taunting after they tied it up, and after nederland ran out on the field for the win #1 tried to go fight players and was escorted out by 2 coaches. then during the handshake several of there players just stayed on the sideline or just walked and didnt congratulate nederland on the win, to there coaches chest bumping with our coaches, to one of there players being escorted out by police they have to be ranked as dirtiest team in houston if not in the state. Ohhh Well BULLDOGS WIN!!!!  8) 8)
...and that's all that really matters...It's gonna be a long, long winter coach wells...and the memories of tonight's game will be with ya the entire time!
 9. one of my co-workers said that her son and some other Dogs met Watt and Foster in the weight room at Reliant on Monday before practice and they were really cool with the kids, cutting up and talking game and really down to earth.  Pretty exciting for HS kids... He told his mom, that if you think Watt looks big on TV, you can't imagine how big he is in person.

 12. Hopkins is probably used to dirty hits by now...I'd be surprised if he doesn't have teeth marks and fingernail scratches on his body too.  Whatever happened, I'm hoping he'll be 100% for next game..Prayers for full recovery.
 13. wouldn't it stand to reason that tonight we were the better team seeing as how we won??  Howfunny.....and what a very classy comment coming from a HC.  Maybe the poor man needs some R & R...that had to be embarassing for him...oh....and maybe he needs to teach his players to avoid penalties...that may help in his future endeavors to beat teams that his is better than!!  ;)

So many thoughts but I'll start with 5th and 7.... To me, either Ned should have been able to decline the penalty OR accept it with a ten second runoff which would've ended the game. Is there no runoff rule in hs??? If not, that's a load of crap! Any team can just sacrifice 5 yards for basically a free time out if they have none.. If the clock is ticking, just commit a false start and the clock stops, giving you enough time to get your field goal team on the field.. I think something major was blown tonight with that. For sure, the field goal was blown.. I can't believe not one of the officials were watching the game clock. A full second ran off after the clock hit 0:00. Nederland nearly got screwed bad tonight and I am just glad it didn't turn out that way. Great job Dogs... I think you just made some more believers in that defense.
Maybe we can get a ref on here to answer this question.  I know there is in the NFL, but not sure about college.
was it because it was a dead ball foul ??
A false start is a dead ball foul.  Illegal motion is a declinable penalty.  I wasn't there and was listening, but according to the announcers Dawson had people running everywhere and weren't set which would be illegal motion.  I'm not sure what happened just what the announcers said
Is that the same as an illegal shift??  somewhere I read that an illegal shift (not being set for 1 second) is a DBF.

No wonder the end of this game was a whirlwind disaster. He almost gave another win away!!!!
He should find a new profession.
Yeah...like training seeing eye dogs to help blind referees call games!!
 16. IMHO, I truly believe that pound for pound, position by position and man for man, this is the BEST overall Nederland team, from top to bottom,  to play under Coach Neumann at Nederland. Every unit on this team (OL, DL, LB's, DB's, WR's, RB's) are all very well oiled components that when assembled together make for the results such as we have witnessed tonight.

 21. Pass him the Tony's to season up that crow with Jake!!    ;D
 22. I'm still confused about PD's 4th qtr FG with 0:00 on the clock.  Can someone elaborate on what the heck happened there...was it just a zebra screw-up or did I miss something?
