  1. As Matthew328 stated, we were extremely young going into that first game against Ryan. Our entire secondary was sophomores, our starting running back was a sophomore. We had a junior QB that made mistake after mistake, that eventually led to him losing the starting position after the worst loss under our current head coach (McKinney North) where he had 5 turnovers. Our offensive line was extremely young as well, so things just..the last two years have been tough for sure. The talent we had in 2017-2019 has not been there the last 2 seasons (minus Jalen Hale), and facing Highland Park/Denton Ryan 5 times in that time span definitely was humbling after having won 28 of 29 games in 2018/2019. The group we have coming up is one we've been talking about ever since Haynes King stepped on the field for his senior season. You could tell they were going to be special even with as young as they were then. Our entire offensive line returns, Tatum Taylor is back at running back as a junior, our secondary is the best secondary I have ever seen a Longview group have, and almost all of them are just juniors. Jalen Hale starts his 4th season as a Lobo on the varsity squad, the first freshmen to play on a Lobo varsity team in over 30 years and he's showed why with the amount of D1 offers he has. The receivers around him are extremely talented on top of it. Our defensive front should be out of this world. QB remains a question mark. Allen comes in as a 3 year starter now (battled back and worth in 2020 before winning it, battling it back and forth in 2021 before losing it). We will go as far as he takes us, no doubt. He is by far our weakest position, but when you have as much talent around you as he does this year, we're hoping it'll mask some things. No doubt Denton Ryan is going to be impressive again. I'm more than happy we won't have to see them until Week 15 if we do have to face them. 3 losses in a row to a single team does not happen to Longview often. It's the first time in program history that we've ever lost to a team 3 times in just 13 games. But we would be more than battled test if we were to get to the Semis. Like I said earlier, we're 18-7 in the last 2 seasons which is just not Longview standards...but also 5 of the 7 losses have come to #1 Denton Ryan, or #2/#3 Highland Park so it is masked a bit considering 3 of those 5 losses were decided by one score. But we have not been elite by any stretch and I think a lot of us feel the group that is coming up (and the group behind them for that matter) is at that elite level. No doubt a Crosby match up is looming in November. It's going to end up being one of those match ups we will have talked about all season long I feel. Looking forward to it potentially happening. And looking forward to keeping up with a new group of schools. I know we almost faced BH back in the late 2000s. I can imagine their fans don't want to make the travel to Longview this season (or next for that matter). Getting that home field in round 1 is going to be extremely important with the travel. Hopefully the district is a little more competition (district 8 that is) than I'm expecting it to be. Looks like a Crosby/PA Memorial run away, with BH in 3rd and the rest...well the rest being as bad as they are. But we'll see what happens.
  2. Well I guess we'll see you guys next season (and 3/4th of this year's team will be there to welcome you to Nac)
  3. Some teams played on Monday (with the next game on a Saturday) when Rita hit (at least Lufkin did). Isn't the hurricane suppose to make land fall on Saturday though?
  4. BH fans, has there been any indication of them moving the game at all because of Ike?
  5. 48-0. Final score ended up being 68-0. Starters were pulled at the end of the first quarter or at the beginning of the second quarter. No reason for 4 teams to be going into the playoffs for that very reason. (Didn't agree with them coming in sweats but the dressing room was quite small and we brought almost our entire JV team as well as the varsity) That BA team couldn't compete with a 3A team that season. How they made the playoffs, I will never know. As far as this game, good luck to the BH fans. Stay safe first of all. Second, our defense is the best I have ever seen it so far. They completely shut down the Allen offense for 3 quarters (3rd quarter they scored 14, first TD was a punt return). And last week, they completed shut down a "improved" Tyler Lee offense (which I don't believe is improved but o well). Offense has a lot of stuff to work on. Either way, it's a learning experience for both teams. Expecting a lot of passes from the Lobo offense this week.
  6. Wow. That's pretty..pathetic honestly. Congrats to Lumberton on the win but someone has got to change that. And fast.
  7. Longview played Tyler Lee last night. Shut em out 21-0. (How they came away with positive yardage, I'm not really sure) Longview played No. 8 Allen in week 0 and lost 21-7.
  8. Let the fun begin. I know BH has a game tomorrow, but o well. Longview's offense is sputtering but still has put up over 200 yards rushing in both games. Longview's defense has been unbelievable thus far, creating numerous turnovers in the Tyler Lee game. Think I'll be heading to SFA around 1ish to tailgate. Good luck to Eagle fans this upcoming week.
  9. No doubt. I'm more excited about not having to waste so much gas going to Mesquite every Friday night, honestly. Will be fun seeing some old district mates and plus we get to face three teams we've never even played during the regular season. SFA is a great location and I'm very excited about returning there. How big of a crowd should I expect from the Barbers Hill side? I have no idea how far it is away from Nacogdoches but I'm assuming it's about half way between LGV and BH.
  10. Just thought I'd wish BH fans a good luck. Pretty excited about returning to SFA, personally.
  11. :D :D That's hilarious to me for some reason. Anything can happen on any given day. I've seen Longview choke too many times to not believe that. Good luck to you guys.
  12. Sadly, it'll be the last year the Wildcatters are in Beaumont. From what I've heard there are plans (well not really plans...they're already set in stone) to move the team to Ontario, California. The team will be called the Ontario Reigh. Edit: whoops, just saw another thread on this already. Sorry.
  13. Story on the game from the News-Journal if anyone is interested.. [Hidden Content] Hats off to BH for stepping up...unlike John Tyler.
  14. Ok y'all gotta give me some info on this team. I've never even heard of em, and I know that sounds bad...but o well. haha. Good Luck to any of their fans on here. Hopefully it'll be a neutral site game, don't really want to travel 4 hours. SFA would be nice.
  15. I rather play someone then noone. I'm actually surprised we found someone to play. It looked a lot like we were only going to have a 9 game schedule.
