1. Sat. Lumberton 0, Sharyland 4       Lumberton 5, CE King 1 Sharyland should take 1st with Bastrop in 2nd followed by Lumberton in 3rd in the 1st place bracket. Nice job Lady Raiders!  Much more upside in this team and many young players saw some quality playing time.
2. You the man Bon.  I cant say that i agree with you often, but you sir are on the money.
3. Lumberton 1 Nederland 0 Lumberton 3 Dickinson 2 (SO) Lumberton 1 Ball 0 (SO) Great Job Lady Raiders!!!
4. Again BOXT, if you want the credit, and you sound pretty spirited, go online and find the correct numbers to call.  It's not the reporters, who have several other boys and girls teams to cover, that decide based on success who they will cover.  I'm sure it comes down to who gives them the most information first, and then with what little time they have left, they can go out into the field and catch whatever wasnt given to them.  Be careful with your tone when discussing your "dominance" over area teams who dont know how to play "real" soccer.  You're getting dangerously close to sounding as arrogant as that Friendswood fellow.  Good luck to the Kelly girls team the rest of the way.  May they not listen to such ramblings so their heads dont swell so large that their shoulders wont be able to carry the weight.
5. Wow, i guess nobody voted for the region III girls so they just pulled some names and threw them up there.  At least they got the top three right.  4 should be PNG who could very possibly defeat Brenham this year.  After that it should be KP, Lumb, Santa Fe, Foster, ?, and ?.  And who is Stratford?
6. Can anyone post a list of the senior athletes that will be performing for both sides?
7. Good player, smart, and very nice girl.  Wish her the best.
8. they did not do a goalkeeper of the year for that district
9. The Brenham/Midway game is a tough one this year.  I say Midway by 1 again.  But I dont think it will matter which team faces Friendswood this time.  Either one would lose 2 or 3 to nada.  Now i know FF will have a little to add to this, so i apologize ahead of time for stoking him up, but thats the way i see it going down.  And just so you know, i dont care which one of these three go to state, I'm pulling for whoever it is.
10. Poor froggie, you must be absolutely livid right now.  Them poor old undeserving girls from Lumberton found a way to beat those mighty dogs again.  I actually like the way that sounds.  You just keep on thinking about how much better Ned is for years to come.  I think Lumberton rather likes being the underdogs flying under the radar.  Thanks Shark, you are way closer to the mark here.  Lumberton recorded only 6 saves and none of them needed to be spectacular.  Some people count errant passes that roll to the keeper or past the byline as shots.  You are also correct about taking their lumps early on.  Man was it a brutal preseason.  However, by the time this game rolled around i can only pick out 6 of the starters that were in the same position when they played PNG and Nederland early on. FF:  Not a 1st or 2nd rd exit last year.  They made it to the Quarters and graduated 12 seniors.  I know thats nothing to a man who roots for a team that has all kinds of premier talent to choose from, but its pretty amazing for us who know we have to work that much harder to get there.
11. to FF:  you should ask the moderators how easy is it to start a message board.  I'm sure they would help you, then you could manage it any way you wanted to.  I mean thats the general answer when people complain about poor officiating, "get licensed, put on the uniform if you think you can do a better job" right?   About the game:  I agree with HJkeep, it was one of the most entertaining games i've ever witnessed.  Lumberton seemed to be more patient in the final third which gave them the better of the oppurtunities.  And there were more than the two missed oppurtunities:  The header that glanced the back post, the chip over the goalie that just missed, the two that were from the bad first touch, and the shot the keeeper made the great save on were all the best scoring chances in the entire match which were all by Lumberton.  Nederland dominated what?  Cards?   You couldnt have written a better script for this war of a game.  In the preseason match Lumberton got the red card and Nederland won with 41 sec on the clock.  In this revenge game, Nederland got the red card and Lumberton scored with, you guessed it, 41 ticks on the clock.  And btw, beside the red card in the first game they played, that yellow issued at this game to lumberton was the second card anyone received all year.  I'm glad to see the Lady Raiders could keep their composure against a more physical Nederland squad. Class:  Good post Wellread.  I just cant get the image out of my head of #7 kicking the lumberton keeper in the face while she was down and then laughing and high-fiving her teammates while joggin back down the field.  :( Good Luck Lumberton!  Last team standing representing Southeast Texas.
12. I'll play this one.  3-2 PNG Game On
13. I too like hearing from local refs such as oodooo.  I'm going to go with his statement about local refs im afraid.  I too have had the pleasure of playing, refereeing, and coaching in the area and sorry, but when it comes down to it, this area does have more weak officials than strong ones.  And yes Soccerguy1, it is different than a lot of other areas in the state of Texas.  Not that they're not good people or not trying to do their best and all that good stuff, but some that i know personally could care less and that's a fact.  I cant tell you how many times after asking a ref about a certain call or tried to get a better understanding of a rule i get the old shoulder shrug or an "Im not sure about that one" answer.  More times than i get a good answer, thats for sure.   And seriously, when i became a ref at 16, i knew i was going to be criticized.  I STILL TOOK THE JOB knowing that.  I knew as a coach, i was going to be criticized and I still took that job too.  Some people can handle it and some cant.  If you can't, then i dont think you're too smart to take such a job.  Are there boundaries and breaking points? Certainly!  But you have to do something about it!  If some fan or coach is badgering you past your limit, throw the fan out or card the coach.  No they cannot "generally get away with derrogatory remarks"!  And thats what i mean by weak and someone earlier referred to as "lazy".  I'm rooting for our local refs to tighten up, gain some respect, and get control back.  Before you can be unseen, as Shark said, you have to set the guidelines and have control.  Well, not as short and sweet as i like to keep it, but, for all its worth, thats my two cents.
14.
boys PNG 3, Ned 1 girls PNG 3, Ned 1
:o You know,a friend of mine told me the PNG coach said they had a good chance of beating Nederland.  I told him "No way, Nederland's the best team in this area according to this board".  Man that guys never going to leave me alone about this one.  Good job PNG. Lets hear it Ned fans; whats up with the doggies?  Boys of course.  I assumed the girls would lose.
15. Girls: PNG over NED 2-0 Bianca will need to be on her toes. I think she will, and thats the reason its not a more lopsided prediction. I predict a couple cards in this one maybe. :) Boys: NED over PNG 2-1 And that's actually saying alot for Nederland, considering PNG's stingy defense this year. I think this game could easily be a 1-0 overtime win, or a shootout victory.  I do believe Nederland has the overall better team though.
16. Because although the Lumberton player was given the red for retaliating, the Nederland girl was carded because she started it by trying to pull the defender down from behind.  In all actuality, it should have been a free kick for Lumberton, not a drop ball of PK
17. Lumberton Girls - 4 Alumni - 1 Boys -1 Alumni - 2
18. Just curious to see what some of you people know about what to expect from our area for the years to come. Lets say next 5 years. Looking at our local youth systems, are they getting better, worse, or are they staying the same. Are there any new directions being taken such as more div II teams, a div I team. What have you heard or know about girls or boys? I'll say this, from what i have witnessed, my assessment is that quality girls youth soccer programs are becoming more abundant and seems like the girls are getting much better year to year. As for the boys, I thinks they are either holding steady or getting worse. What else can be done? Your thoughts.
19. My two cents, for what its worth: If Brenham will be down next year, I see a Waco team against Sharpstown or KP. Lumberton should be pretty good again next year. Will they be able to beat one of the forementioned teams? Possibly, I know they will compete with them. Next year's seniors are teh first group that have been with Luttrul for all four years now. Thats a major plus. And Bon is correct, i believe like three of Lumberton's losses this year were close ones to Houston area 5A schools. I'm going to have to say they will be the best team from this area next year.
20. I was being sarcastic FF. The Dallas area teams: WF, WF Rider, Pearce, Plano, etc are always stacked with div 1 players. Probably a good reason they hold most of the titles. However, all of those other teams with 20+ div 1 players in that area (including Rider, whom FW defeated) were not in the final game of the season like FW and RP. Two quality teams got together, and the outcome was one team had to win. Heard FW owned the second half with most of the oppurtunities. LP must have made some adjustments.
