  1. My apologies. I actually only meant to direct the "dream is a joke" comment toward you, because you had mentioned dream in your previous post. But I didn't type it very clearly. The "UFC is the best org." comment was meant to be directed toward venom. I apologize for not typing it well. I agree with you on the dream rules and regulations. My comment was directed toward the talent pool of dream. And I can't agree or disagree with you on the Fedor thing, because I think we just don't know, which is, I think, reason enough not to have him ranked numero uno. But I dislike him, and I will admit that it more than likely biases my opinion a bit. Sorry for the clarity and if I offended, I really only mean to offend venom. But I do it because I love...and because I think he's wrong. ;D
  2. Fedor a poon? WOW!!!! Have you looked at the fighters Fedor has faced and beat? In your last statement you said "and then beat Tim,which I think we can all agree is not that big of a feat," if this is the case then what exactly is Timmy gonna expose that these other fighters havent? I understand there are quite a few UFC nuthuggers but all Im asking is think outside the UFC and look at the other organizations around the WORLD including K1 and you will find that the UFC has good fighters but there are MANY fighters that if given an opportunity would run rough shot through anyone in the UFC! I will give you two names right off the bat as an example; Semmy Schilt and Jerome Labanner.... Man you are ridiculous. Schilt lost to Hong Man! and Labanner lost to Cro Cop, and we all know how he did in the UFC. But again, all this debating is for naught because the main issue is something we agree on. There are good fighters outside the UFC, and to only consider the UFC is just ignorant. I do however think that the UFC is the best organization, and that DREAM, Lufan, is a joke. Pride was good, and Fedor was good, great, mythical even, but I do not agree with the ranking because he hasn't done anything to prove he's number one recently. But I understand it, because the heavyweight divisions of all the organizations that have it are all up in the air. No one has clear competitors at heavyweight. And that is why Fedor is still ranked number one, because he hasn't fought anyone worth mentioning in a while and the heavyweight divisions in the world are in a state of limbo.
  3. Delusional! Fedor is going to be exposed you watch, and yes, I will concede that a few Pride fighters have found success in the UFC, but the resounding majority have not. A couple things though, Rampage has only beaten one legitimate UFC fighter in Chuck, his other major win is over another Pride fighter. And Big Nog nearly lost to Heath Herring, ANOTHER Pride fighter, and then beat Tim, which I think we can all agree is not that big of a feat. We will see how he fairs over Frank Mir. So both of them have only one major win over a UFC fighter. Granted, they were two big UFC names. Again, not denying the legitimacy of Rampage and Big Nog, but they are UFC fighters now, what they were is irrelevant to your comment that other organizations have superior fighters to the UFC champs. It's just not true. Just look at any ranking, and the list of top 10 Pound for Pound fighters are all UFC fighters save Fedor and Urijah (Again, I don't count Fedor because he's been so stagnant for so long, and he's a poon, and you like him, which means he can't possibly be any good ;D)
  4. Just because Choi is massive I think it is absolutely unfair to call him a circus act!!! Unlike Kimbo Choi IS an accomplished star!!! Heres his records and a few noteable fights: K1 kick boxing 12-4 mma 1-1 Hes beaten Sapp, K1 World Champion Semmy Schilt,Gary Goodridge, and Akebono(2)... Oh Boy! Here we go again! Hong Man Choi is a circus act, don't make excuses, you know it, I know it, everyone in Hong Man's family knows it. And for future reference, don't use beating Bob Sapp to make a point. That guy is useless. And what are you smoking? other organizations have far superior fighters than the UFC? That's either delusional or just plain denial. The UFC is the best in the world, and while Pride was good, the only organization that might have competed with it, the UFC is better, much better. NO OTHER ORGANIZATION TOUCHES THE UFC. In fact, the only two legitimate organizations in the MMA world are the UFC and the WEC, and they are owned by the same company! Now to be fair, there are good fighters in other organizations, and it is a bit pious to only consider the UFC. I mean if you don't know much about Fedor, you can't really be considered a hardcore MMA fan. And, I think Affliction has the potential to compete with the UFC, especially now that we know Donald Trump is behind them. BUT, no one touches the UFC in quality of fights and fighters, and to say that "many organizations around the world have far superior fighters than the UFC" is not only horrendously erroneous, its wishful to the point of desperation. This all of course stems from your mancrush on Fedor, who couldn't close negotiations if someone offered him a continent. The man is terrified to lose his reputation, and is a pre-madonna punkass. I'm hoping and praying Tim rips his head off. Harsh debate aside, it's nice to hear from 'Ol Venom again.
  5. A few things: 1. When did the difference in weight in this debate go as far as heavyweight and flyweight? Big difference between that what we're talking about. 2. I did in fact see the Hong Man Choi/Fedor fight. I will agree that Hong Man beat up Fedor's face for a sec, just like Lesner did to Mir. Of course they both lost in the first round to submission and now Frank Mir is headed on to challenge for the heavyweight title. Fedor is another story, his career went south a bit because he did in fact choose to fight a circus act. 3. I reread my post, and I did not say that Chuck was more polished than Randy, I did state that Chuck is very very polished, though unorthodox. Though he is a counter striker, so I can understand how it would be difficult to see. All these things really don't matter though, because you have gone from Kimbo beating and ending the careers of the top pound for pound fighters in the world, to having a punchers chance against them, which is something that I agree with. Peace.
  6. It was a great night of fights. And the Pulver/Faber fight lived up to the hype. Faber is a monster and both of their chins are incredible. Faber is going to have to move weight classes though, there's no competition for him at featherweight.
  7. Career ending Luf? Are you serious? You are saying that the two best MMA fighters in the world (literally, they are #1 and #2 in the pound-for-pound rankings) would get beat down by an out of shape newb who just nearly lost to a joke of an opponent. I don't think so. That's like saying that Chipper Jones would strike out against a college prospect just because he throws hard. Kimbo is no way near ready for any serious MMA professional. And you won't see him get put in there with one. And Chuck Liddell isn't polished? Please, he's one of the most polished strikers out there, unorthodox, but very very polished, along with the likes of Anderson Silva, GSP, and now apparently Urijah Faber.
  8. I agree with venom 100% (yes I know, shocking). The show should have been aborted before it started. Buc, Kimbo definitely did not take it to the mat, he was taken to the mat several times. He got one accidental takedown in the second round, but other than that, thompson took him down at will. Kimbo was done at the end of round 2, and the ref not stopping it then was atrocious. Kimbo couldn't hang with anyone, including Silva or GSP. They would crush and submit him. I think BJ Penn would kill him too. Thompson could very well beat him too. I mean Kimbo was so gassed he couldn't finish his interview. Pathetic. I can excuse him for being a newbie and this only being his 3rd pro fight, but I can never overlook not being in shape to at least go the full fight. You'd think with nostrils like his Kimbo could last a while. Lufan man I can't agree with you. GSP and Anderson would kill Kimbo. You mentioned that wandy could stand with him, but the funny thing is that all three of those fighters are very close in size. Wandy could and should fight at middle weight, and GSP has to pull off a miracle every fight to get down to welter weight. And anderson would beat anyone at any weight class. Kimbo is not big, he's actually just an average sized heavyweight. thompson outweighed him by 22 lbs and had 3 inches on him. The event was awful, and I am in no way a conspiracy theorist, in fact I despise them, but it very much looked fixed, and with the way Elite XC runs its organization (founded on Kimbo and run by an underhanded hack like Gary Shaw) it's quite feasible that it was fixed. I'll bet Dana White is laughing hysterically and I doubt Elite XC will recover from this.
  9. Well he's not very good at PR. He tends to put his foot in his mouth more often than not, and he angered a lot of people by not finishing fights. The biggest reason probably though is that he lost to captain america at a time when Randy could do no wrong. People remember how they felt, but they don't remember what for or what has happened since. Therefore people still dislike Tim, even though he is now fighting better and Randy is a douche.
  10. that's true, except that I think Tim would rather use it to get a better contract with the UFC. I wouldn't be surprised.
  11. No, actually. I firmly believe that he goes out of his way to not have to fight anyone who would ever challenge him. I think Tim is the biggest threat to him in two years, and that's not saying much for Fedor's fights if Tim is your hardest opponent in YEARS. Him and his people are also impossible to work with. Neither the UFC nor M-1 (now Adrenaline) could make deals with him because of his arrogance. He refuses to sign exclusive contracts, he won't concede to stop competing in that joke show in russia where he beats up on amateurs, and he will not sign a contract with anyone who won't let him pick and choose his own fights. So it doesn't really have anything to do with the actual fighting, but how he conducts himself outside of the ring and with others. I mean M-1 changed the name of their organization to distance themselves from him!! I just think he needs a reality check, and that's why I want him to lose, and if it was to Tim it would just be great because he is not only from the UFC, but has recently lost to two fighters who are/were from the UFC. I'm not denying Fedor's incredible past, nor am I denying that he's a great fighter, one of the best in the world if not the best, but his attitude just sucks.
  12. Doesn't mean I won't root for Tim. I can't stand Fedor, no matter how good or not good he supposedly is, and I like Tim. Fedor is probably the better fighter, but come on, there is always a fart in the wind's chance.
  13. WAR TIM!! DOWN WITH FEDOR!! (Done for venom's benefit)
  14. sounds good. Be nice to put a face to all these wayward hackneyed opinions. :
  15. james irvin was confirmed for the fight with evans. in addition matt hughes is going to be fighting thiago alves, and brandon vera vs. fabricio werdum is also being considered. I'd say they more than made up for loss of Liddell. And I saw the injury, it was gruesome. check it out: [Hidden Content]
  16. I have to disagree venom. While they did get their start streetfighting, the good ones evolved into mixed martial artists, those who stood with the streetfighting, (i.e. tank) didn't fair well. And while they are legends, they are legends in an old age of mixed martial arts. A streetfighter doesn't stand a chance against an established mma fighter. Rampage wasn't even worth a crap until he stopped focusing on streetfighting and started focusing on his mma technique (his pride career was dismal, other than beating chuck), and you can't use tank abbott as an example man! you taught me that earlier in this thread.
  17. I do remember you not being much of a believer in Kimbo, Venom. But I think that we both agree that he has the potential to be really good. He's just not proven yet.
  18. I love how people say "take down" as if it's a cop out. It's just as dangerous as striking. That being said, Kimbo would not KO any accomplished MMA fighter, he's just not good enough yet, and until he does, all this speculation of how awesome he is is just out there.
  19. You guys are bent. A veteran liddell with a long reach against a rookie kimbo? Liddell TKO. The better fight is what is probably going to happen in september, Liddell against Rua. Should be a hell of a fight.
  20. I'll go with that. I can understand how splitting between the teams isn't really good comparing. I retract my statement. But that would mean that you can't nominate someone just because they played on varsity a couple of games or are mostly on jv but play varsity every once in a while. Has to be someone who constantly contributes to the varsity team.
  21. So have we confirmed you have to be playing on varsity in order to be considered? Does this apply even to those teams who have really strong varsities? Lots of good freshman who play down simply because they are unproven compared to those strong varsities. Maybe the category should be split in two: best fish on varsity and best fish not playing varsity.
  22. What about the gators? Still seeing a ton of them?
