ONE kid, Kelvin Smith, moved to Nederland in the 9th grade. A kid who had barely played b-ball before he arrived at Nederland. He did become the MVP of the district his Senior year. Must have been some good coaching. 😏

Let’s see,: Over the past 30 years, HJ has won 3 state titles, I believe. 8-10 Regional Tourneys, Numerous playoff games, as well as lots of district titles This year: 1) HJ ties for 1st in their district 2) Teams 1-4 in the same district win round 1 of the playoffs 3) Then lose by 50 points in the 2nd round to Yates Question: 1) How can one deny Yates’s recruiting? 2) Who wants to watch a 50 point blow out in the playoffs? 3) For the Yates kids moving on and playing at the next level, does anyone think this prepares them for that? Those remaining silent are doing a disservice to these young men.

Yep. As it should be. There is a reason private schools and Prep schools were created. Maybe Yates should apply to be one of those schools. Do that, and we aren’t having this conversation (again). It’s been going on for 10 years now, and the UIL isn’t doing their job at stopping Yates from basically cheating.

I’m asking bc it usually helps having ‘been there’ and understanding the topic at hand. Did you ever attempt to recruit kids from PATJ or Lincoln to okay at SFA or vice versa? And for the record, I earned 9 letters while playing 4 sports in HS at Nederland. I know for a FACT that I worked harder than anyone else at being the best I could be. So I understand putting in more ‘work’ in the gym as Mamba suggested. But no way was my team ever going to be HS opponent with 5 college players on it.
